Abstract

ABSTRACT Consumption of liquor has become a part of the socio-cultural of the people in Indonesia. There are many different types of local liquor. Groups of people who consume liquor generally have various reasons and backgrounds such as the need to warm the body, entertainment reasons and so on. The effect of liquor is an important aspect in the creation of the work, namely to capture the moment of expression of the drinking subject, as part of the photographer's medium of expression as well as the subject of photography. This creation is done by using the method of exploration and experimentation. Each stage that is carried out is based on a literature review, including expression photography, EDFAT and non-verbal semiotics. This is done as an effort to create art photos that are able to display the reality of expression as a potential in the aesthetic concept of photography. Keywords: Alcohol, Expression, Expression Photography

Abstract

Penciptaan karya fotografi ini mengangkat tema tentang masalah gangguan kesehatan mental akibat penggunaan media sosial yang berlebihan. Tujuan penciptaan fotografi ekspresi ini adalah untuk memvisualisasikan dampak negatif media sosial terhadap kesehatan mental. Aliran fotografi ekspresi dipilih karena dapat menyampaikan kegelisahan diri hingga kondisi kesehatan mental dan didukung dengan metode montase sebagai penunjang perwujudan karya. Metode pengumpulan data dalam perwujudan karya ini menggunakan metode observasi dengan berbagai cara, yakni dengan meninjau literatur, membagikan kuesioner kepada kelompok remaja masa akhir dengan rentang umur 18-24 tahun, dan mewawancarai langsung salah satu psikolog sebagai ahli kesehatan mental. Hasil dari observasi tersebut dijadikan landasan ide dalam visualisasi karya. Dalam perwujudan karya, media sosial yang dipilih sebagai objek pendukung ide penciptaan adalah Instagram. Hasil penciptaan karya fotografi ini menyampaikan kesan yang berhubungan dengan pengguna. Hal ini digambarkan melalui visualisasi dari berbagai gejala gangguan kesehatan mental, yaitu (a) adiksi, (b) komparasi diri, dan (c) kecemasan. Dengan demikian, penciptaan karya fotografi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan reflektif bersama mengenai pentingnya kesadaran dalam penggunaan media sosial.Visualisation of Excessive Social Media Use on Mental Health through Fine Art Photography. This photographic work brings up the theme of mental health disorders due to excessive use of social media. The creation of this fine art photograph aims to visualise the negative impacts of social media on mental health. This genre of fine art photography was chosen because it can express self-anxiety about mental health conditions and is supported by a montage method to support the realisation of the work. The data collection method in the embodiment of this work uses observation methods in various ways, namely by observing literature, distributing questionnaires to the group of late adolescents aged 18 to 24 years, and conducting direct interviews with one of the psychologists as a mental health expert. These observations' findings serve as the foundation for ideas in the creation of works. In the realisation of this work, the social media platforms chosen as supporting is Instagram. The result of this photographic work conveys user-related impressions, which are illustrated through the visualisation of various symptoms of mental health disorders: (a) addiction, (b) self-comparison, and (c) anxiety. Thus, the creation of this photographic work is expected to be a collective reflective material regarding the importance of awareness in the use of social media.
