Abstract

Effective and ineffective English teacher will determine the success of teaching and learning process. This research was conducted to find out the students’ perception on the characteristics of effective and ineffective English language teachers. The methodology employed in this research was qualitative method by applying coding of qualitative data. The main instrument of this research was data in the form of essay. The essays were collected from the students. The data analysis was carried out by following the grounded theory procedure and technique comprised three steps: open coding (inductive), axial coding and selective coding. This research found out that there are several characteristics of  effective and ineffective English teacher. They are teacher’s personality, teacher’s appearance, teacher’s classroom performance, material mastery and classroom management. Keywords: effective, ieneffective, perception

Abstract

Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dalam kegiatan ini yaitu menjadikan lingkungan sekolah sebagai pusat yang berbudaya literat bagi warganya melalui hasil karya peserta didik yang sistematis. Target khusus yang ingin dicapai melalui gerakan literasi sekolah (GLS) yaitu memberikan fungsi dalam pembelajaran sebagai wadah dan metode. Fungsi sebagai wadah; menjadikan literasi untuk membiasakan membaca dan menulis kepada peserta didik yang mengarah pada menghasilkan karya-karya peserta didik, meningkatkan efektivitas guru dan sekolah agar literat, menjadikan sekolah sebagai taman belajar yang menyenangkan dan ramah dalam mencapai pengetahuan peserta didik. Fungsi sebagai metode; berguna untuk melihat, membandingkan, dan mengamati keberhasilan belajar peserta didik. Metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini yaitu mencakup pada perspektif action research dengan manfaat yang ingin dicapai yakni perbaikan dan peningkatan mutu pembelajaran, maka kegiatan ini berpijak pada pendekatan tahapan GLS.

Abstract

Keterampilan berbicara merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa dengan menggunakan kata-kata efektif dalam berkomunikasi. Kemampuan verbal (berkomunikasi) manusia tidak bisa didapat secara alamiah, tetapi harus melalui proses belajar dan berlatih. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dalam presentasi ilmiah melalui pembelajaran daring dan model pembelajaran advokasi “belajar debat” . Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara (dari segi kebahasaan dan nonkebahasaan) mahasiswa STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan desain penelitian berbentuk PTK. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan 2 siklus dan dilaksanakan sesuai dengan model pembelajaran advokasi. Adapun populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia pada semester 1 Pendidikan Ekonomi, sedangkan sampel dalam penelitian ini yakni mahasiswa kelas 1B Pendidikan Ekonomi STKIP PI dengan jumlah 30 mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan data kualitatif dan data kuantitatif. Data kualitatif diperoleh dengan teknik observasi dan angket, dan data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui tes berbicara (pretes dan postest). Data kualitatif dianalisis melalui tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan, sedangkan data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan analisis statistik deskriptif.

Abstract

Dalam pelatihan yang dilaksanakan di SMPN 14 Tanralili Maros, guru akan diperkenalkan teknik-teknik permainan Ice Breaking mulai dari permainan Ice Breaking perorangan, kelompok hingga permainan Ice Breaking yang memiliki nuansa hiburan dan permainan. Tujuan dari pelatihan ini adalah selain menghibur guru dalam pelatihan, guru pun dibekali kemampuan dalam memotivasi siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran melalui penerapan Metode Ice Breaking; Adapun Metode pelaksanaan program pengabdian ini terbagi menjadi tiga tahapan, yaitu: praperencanaan, perencanaan, dan pelatihan. Melalui PKM dengan judul “Strategis Peningkatan Motivasi Belajar Siswa melalui Metode Ice Breaking bagi Guru SMPN 14 tanralili Maros. Peserta dalam kegiatan PKM ini berjumlah 14 guru. guru antusias dan memahami teknik-teknik dalam pengelolaan kelas, selain itu, guru dapat menggunakan teknik-teknik Ice Breaking untuk menstimulasi siswa agar fokus terhadap apa yang akan mereka pelajari.

Abstract

The Role-Playing learning model is a learning model which can assist the students to understand, think, and act alone by acting out the behavior of others in real life in the form of group discussion activities. This study aims to determine the influence of role-playing learning models in building students’ character in overcoming moral degradation in the world of education. The results of this study are expected to build the character of students to be better in living in society. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and the research design was Class Action Research. The research was carried out with 2 cycles by following the Role-Playing learning model. The population of this research was all students of FKIP, Universitas Patompo, while the sample of this research was class 1B students of Economic Education of FKIP, Universitas Patompo with the total number of students were 40. This research applied qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data was obtained through observation and questionnaire techniques, while quantitative data was obtained through direct tests, namely role-playing in building the students’ character. Qualitative data was analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusions, while quantitative data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The result of the research shows that there is an increase in the average score of each aspect assessed in character learning by applying the role-playing learning model in cycle I and cycle II, it can be concluded that the Role-Playing learning model can be an interesting learning method and can overcome the moral degradation of students of Economics Education at FKIP Universitas Patompo. Abstract

This resaerch aimed at finding out the factors which caused the students of STKIP PI had difficulties in learning English. This research applied qualitative method by adapting and applying coding method. This research also applied coding method in data analysis. Coding is a process of qualitative data dispalying in the forms of words, phrases, sentences which were classified as codes and labels. The data collected until saturated. Tha Data analysis includesd three stages; data reduction, data display, conclusion and verification. The subjects of the research were taken from 30 students of Biology Education Studi Program in Semester two Academic Year 2019-2020 and 30 students of Economics Education Studi Program in Semester eight Academic Year 2019-2020, STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia. The result of the this research showed that there were two general factors which caused the students of STKIP PI had difficulties in learning English. Internal factors which were from the students themselves that included the lack of motivation in learning English, laziness, lack of awareness on the benefits of English itslef. Mean while, the external factors are devided into two main factors; the first was dealing with the material of English subject like pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, words classification, reading ability, spelling, homonym as well as translating. While the second external factors were dealing with the lack of facilities and resourches which could support the learning process, lack of time and supporting athmosphere in practicing English. Based of the findings, it may concluded generally that there were internal and external factors which caused the students of STKIP PI had difficultties in learning English.

Abstract

The sociodrama model is a role-play learning model in an interesting learning activity to help students improve their public speaking skills. This study aims to improve students' Public Speaking skills through the sociodrama learning model at Patompo University. This research was carried out using a qualitative approach and research design in the form of PTK. The research was carried out in 2 cycles. The population in this study were all students of FKIP Patompo University, while the sample in this study was class 1B students of Economics Education FKIP UP with a total of 27 students. This study uses qualitative data and quantitative data. Qualitative data were obtained by observation and questionnaire techniques, and quantitative data were obtained through direct tests with the application of the sociodrama model. Qualitative data were analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that there was an increase in the average score for each aspect assessed in learning. It can be concluded that the sociodrama learning model can be an interesting learning method in improving students' Public Speaking skills at Patompo University

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan dan memberikan pemahaman kepada guru-guru SMP Maros tentang model pembelajaran SAVI sebagai model pembelajaran alternatif yang dapat digunakan di kelas khususnya pada masa pembelajaran daring. Penerapan model pembelajaran savi dapat dikombinasikan dengan alat peraga sederhana. Peserta kegiatan adalah guru-guru bidang studi matematika dan IPA. Hal pertama yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian ini adalah melakukan survey dan wawancara dengan guru. Kedua, mengenalkan model pembelajaran SAVI berbantuan alat peraga sederhana sebagai alternaltif model yang dapat digunakan. Guru-guru dapat menggunakan alat dan bahan yang ada disekitar siswa untuk menjelaskan materi pelajaran. Ketiga, Pendampingan dimana guru mendesain pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model SAVI berbantuan alat peraga sederhana. Evaluasi bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh mana guru memahami model SAVI dan dapat mengaplikasikannya di kelas. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah guru semakin kreatif dalam mendesain proses pembelajaran di kelas.
