Abstract

Sustainable forest resource utilization can alleviate poverty in developing countries, including Indonesia, mainly by rural community groups like forest farmer groups (KTH). However, the capacity of KTH to manage forest resources is still low, leading to a decline in their well-being, exemplified in KTH in Kampar Regency. Unlike previous studies, this research focuses on developing KTH based on institutional, area management, and business aspects. The objective of the study is to analyze the factors influencing KTH’s well-being and build a development model for KTH. The research was conducted in Kampar Regency with 193 respondents using a census method. Data analysis used the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The study’s findings reveal that business management significantly influences KTH’s well-being in Kampar Regency, followed by institutional and area management aspects. The development model for KTH involves enhancing key indicators in each aspect, such as KTH’s involvement in government/non-government organizations/other institution programs, appropriate area utilization, and increased business capital, as key steps to achieve a productive, self-reliant, prosperous, and sustainable management. The total revenue for the same period was IDR 1,055,775,000. The net income generated was IDR 563,381,669. The R/C ratio analysis for the five honey bee businesses, Young Daffa Madu, Madu Munthe Family, Tunas Mekar, Depra Group, and Abdullah Madu Riau, shows that the total revenue divided by total production cost yielded a value of 2.14. This indicates that the honey bee business is profitable and feasible for development, as the R/C ratio value exceeds 1

Abstract

Kuala Tolam Village, Pelalawan Regency, has forest areas and peatland ecosystems that play an important role ecologically, economically, and socially for the community. However, these areas have been experiencing continuous decline and pressure due to industrial activities and land-clearing practices. This condition requires a deeper understanding of stakeholder perceptions of forest functions, as an essential basis for building a commitment to preserve and maintain the remaining forest areas. The purpose of this study is to analyze stakeholder perceptions of forest functions in efforts to maintain forest areas in Kuala Tolam Village, focusing on three aspects: economic, social, and ecological. The research employed both quantitative and qualitative approaches, using interviews with stakeholders who were involved in discussion forums for the formation of commitments to protect forest areas in Kuala Tolam Village. The results show that stakeholder perceptions of forest functions in Kuala Tolam Village fall into the “agree” category across all measured aspects economic, ecological, and social. The positive perceptions of stakeholders regarding forest functions indicate a collective awareness of the importance of forests for life. This awareness serves as social capital for building a shared commitment to safeguarding forest functions and areas.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the competencies of Forestry students at SMK Negeri 1 Tualang, Siak Regency, in drone-based videography using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology. The training was conducted through an experiential learning approach that integrated theoretical instruction, technical demonstrations, and hands-on field practice. Training materials covered UAV fundamentals, flight safety, and aerial videography techniques relevant to forestry applications. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using pre-test and post-test methods, supported by observations and interviews. The results indicated a substantial increase in the participants’ average scores, from 57.91% before the training to 96.51% after the training. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test results (p 0.05), confirming the positive impact of the training on students’ knowledge and technical skills. In addition, the program fostered improved confidence, discipline, and responsibility in drone operation. This activity contributes to strengthening vocational competencies and technological literacy in forestry education.
