Abstract

Kerosene is a type of hydrocarbon commonly known as paraffin oil which is usually used as a home heating fuel, lamp and asphalt solvent. The presence of kerosene in the asphalt production can potentially cause environmental pollution, one of which affects soil conditions. Some bacteria that have specific ability to degrade hydrocarbon content in soil are called hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria. Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and Bacillus Subtilis are two types of bacteria that belong to the type of hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria. This study aims to compare the ability of the two types of bacteria to decrease the concentration of kerosene in this case measured as Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) on artificial soil with a ratio of sand to asphalt material containing kerosene of 75:25 for 10 days of testing. Other supporting parameters used in this study were temperature, pH, water content. Based on the results of the study, the temperature and pH values of the soil measured for 10 days ranged between the normal and optimum ranges for the biodegradation process. Meanwhile, the soil media had low water content compared to the optimum conditions for the biodegradation process. However, hydrocarbon compounds still naturally degraded due to environmental factors even though the rate of degradation was slow. Based on the descriptive analysis method, it was found that the ability of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in degrading kerosene was 54.67% and for Bacillus Subtilis it was 62.62%. It can be seen that there was a difference in the ability of the two types of bacteria in descriptive analysis, but different results were obtained in the results of statistical analysis where there is no significant difference between the two types of bacteria on the total percentage of TPH reduction in the soil.

Abstract

Over the year population have continued increase and the limited natural resources make city management increasingly complex. The concept of smart cities, which is a major issue in big cities around the world, encourages community participation. The importance of community participation in the development of technology-based public services underlies the purpose of this study to analyze community perceptions regarding the implementation of smart cities in Gorontalo City. This study uses primary data collection methods assisted by distributing questionnaires to respondents in nine sub-districts and 50 villages, as well as data obtained from institutional surveys and related documents. The results of the analysis show that the developed model is able to explain 48.26% of the variation in community perceptions of city services. It was found that positive community perceptions have the potential to increase their involvement in smart city programs, while negative perceptions can be an obstacle to implementation. This study emphasizes the importance of community understanding of the benefits of smart city technology, as well as the need for effective socialization efforts to increase community support for this initiative. The results of the analysis of community perceptions regarding the implementation of smart cities are expected to be used as a reference for local governments in formulating responsive policies to community needs.

Abstract

The demand for clean water in Indonesia has been steadily increasing, but water pollution from industrial wastewater, especially from tofu production, remains a significant challenge. This study investigates the potential of fly ash and bottom ash as adsorbents to reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) in tofu wastewater. Laboratory experiments were conducted with different adsorbent doses of 25, 50, and 75 grams. The adsorption process involved stirring the samples for 60 minutes, followed by a sedimentation period of 120 minutes. The results showed that fly ash was more effective than bottom ash in reducing COD and BOD levels. At a dose of 75 grams, Fly Ash achieved a 72% reduction in COD (from 0.8672 mg/L to 0.2438 mg/L) while Bottom Ash resulted in a 68% reduction with a final COD concentration of 0.2735 mg/L. A similar pattern was observed in the reduction of BOD. These results indicate that both fly ash and bottom ash can be effective and environmentally friendly alternatives for the treatment of tofu wastewater.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji efektivitas limbah pembakaran batubara, yaitu Fly Ash dan Bottom Ash, sebagai adsorben untuk menurunkan kadar Total Suspended Solids (TSS) dalam limbah cair industri tahu. Tujuan utama dari studi ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi kinerja kedua jenis adsorben dengan variasi dosis (25, 50, dan 75 gram) serta membandingkan efisiensi penurunan TSS. Metode eksperimental kuantitatif digunakan dengan mengaktivasi Fly Ash dan Bottom Ash, kemudian mengolah sampel limbah melalui proses sedimentasi dan filtrasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penurunan TSS yang signifikan, di mana Bottom Ash mencapai efisiensi sebesar 94% (0,921 mg/L) pada dosis 75 gram, lebih unggul dibandingkan Fly Ash yang mencapai efisiensi 92% (1,146 mg/L). Fly Ash memerlukan dosis yang lebih tinggi untuk mencapai hasil yang setara, mengonfirmasi keunggulan Bottom Ash dari segi porositas dan konduktivitas hidrolik untuk aplikasi skala besar. Kedua adsorben memenuhi baku mutu air limbah berdasarkan standar Indonesia, membuktikan kelayakan praktisnya. Dalam studi ini, Bottom Ash juga terbukti tahan terhadap penyumbatan dan memiliki biaya rendah karena memanfaatkan limbah PLTU yang melimpah. Penelitian ini menawarkan solusi ramah lingkungan untuk pengolahan limbah tahu sekaligus mendaur ulang abu batubara, sejalan dengan prinsip ekonomi sirkular.

Abstract

A sustainable alternative strategy to prevent the overcapacity of final disposal sites (TPA) is to strengthen waste management systems at the upstream level, particularly through the establishment and optimization of Reduce-Reuse-Recycle Waste Processing Facilities (TPS 3R). The selection of appropriate locations is a critical initial step to ensure the operational effectiveness and long-term sustainability of TPS 3R facilities. This study aims to identify potential sites that meet spatial and environmental criteria for the development of TPS 3R across five subdistricts in Gorontalo Regency. Spatial analysis was conducted using Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, applying buffer, scoring, and overlay techniques in ArcGIS. The analysis identified five optimal locations for TPS 3R development: Hutuo Subdistrict, Limboto (0°37'33.3"N, 122°59'55.8"E); Yosonegoro Subdistrict, West Limboto (0°37'30.4"N, 122°55'24.6"E); Mongolato Subdistrict, Telaga (0°35'17.2"N, 123°01'56.8"E); Tinelo Subdistrict, Telaga Biru (0°36'24.0"N, 123°01'25.0"E); and Tolotio Subdistrict, Tibawa (0°38'33.9"N, 122°51'34.0"E). These findings are expected to serve as a strategic reference for improving regional waste management planning in a more effective and sustainable manner. ABSTRAKSalah satu strategi alternatif yang berkelanjutan untuk mengurangi tekanan terhadap kapasitas Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA) adalah dengan memperkuat sistem pengelolaan sampah di hulu, khususnya melalui pembangunan dan optimalisasi Tempat Pengolahan Sampah dengan prinsip Reduce, Reuse, dan Recycle (TPS 3R). Penentuan lokasi yang tepat menjadi tahap krusial dalam pembangunan TPS 3R guna menjamin efektivitas dan keberlanjutan operasionalnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi lokasi-lokasi potensial yang memenuhi kriteria spasial dan lingkungan untuk pembangunan TPS 3R di lima kecamatan di Kabupaten Gorontalo. Analisis dilakukan dengan pendekatan spasial berbasis Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG), menggunakan teknik buffer, pemberian skor (scoring), dan overlay pada perangkat lunak ArcGIS. Hasil analisis menunjukkan lima lokasi potensial yang memenuhi kriteria sebagai calon lokasi TPS 3R, yaitu: Kelurahan Hutuo, Kecamatan Limboto (0°37'33.3"N, 122°59'55.8"E); Kelurahan Yosonegoro, Kecamatan Limboto Barat (0°37'30.4"N, 122°55'24.6"E); Kelurahan Mongolato, Kecamatan Telaga (0°35'17.2"N, 123°01'56.8"E); Kelurahan Tinelo, Kecamatan Telaga Biru (0°36'24.0"N, 123°01'25.0"E); dan Kelurahan Tolotio, Kecamatan Tibawa (0°38'33.9"N, 122°51'34.0"E). Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan dalam perencanaan pengelolaan persampahan yang lebih efektif dan berkelanjutan di tingkat daerah.

Abstract

Berdirinya Provinsi Gorontalo pada tahun 2000 sangat mempengaruhi penataan ruang yang ada, khususnya pada perubahan fungsi lahan. Selama sepuluh tahun terakhir, telah terjadi perubahan fungsi lahan sawah di Kota Gorontalo seluas 103,17 hektar, dengan rata-rata alih fungsi sekitar 10,32 hektar per tahun. Perubahan ini menunjukkan tren yang berlawanan dengan peningkatan luas area terbangun yang terus berkembang di wilayah kota tersebut (Syukri & Arifin, 2021). Hal ini mengakibatkan Provinsi Gorontalo menghadapi pesatnya Pembangunan baik fasilitas fisik maupun fasilitas sosial. Pemanfaatan ruang yang baik adalah pemanfaatan ruang yang memiliki struktur ruang dan pola ruang sesuai dengan rencana tata ruang. Efektivitas pengendalian pemanfaatan ruang dapat tercapai apabila masyarakat berperan aktif dalam mengawasi serta melaporkan setiap bentuk penyimpangan kepada pemerintah daerah. Upaya penanganan sejak dini hanya dapat dilakukan apabila terdapat informasi yang tepat dan segera ditindaklanjuti oleh pihak berwenang. Selama ini, kurangnya perhatian dan tindak lanjut menjadi kelemahan yang menyebabkan tujuan penataan ruang belum sepenuhnya terwujud, sehingga pemanfaatan ruang sering kali tidak sesuai dengan prinsip pembangunan yang aman, nyaman, produktif, dan berkelanjutan. Karena itu, penting untuk meningkatkan kapasitas dan pemahaman masyarakat agar mampu berpartisipasi dalam pengawasan pemanfaatan ruang, salah satunya melalui kegiatan bersama mitra di SMAN 1 Kabila.
