Abstract

Fire is a disaster that cannot be predicted when and where it will occur. Many fire disasters occur in dense settlements, so dense settlements become vulnerable to the danger of fire disasters. Negeri Batu Merah is one of the densely populated settlements located near the central area of Ambon City. This dense residential condition has resulted in settlements in Batu Merah Country becoming areas that are potentially vulnerable to fire disasters. This research aims to determine the distribution of fire disaster vulnerability levels in dense settlements in Batu Merah State. Apart from that, this research also aims to provide recommendations for reducing the level of fire vulnerability in the study area. The analytical methods used in this research are spatial analysis, appreciation analysis and descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the vulnerability analysis in the study area, the level of fire vulnerability is divided into three, namely low, high and very high levels of vulnerability. Interventions to reduce the level of fire vulnerability can be carried out by mitigating efforts both structurally and non-structurally by adding fire extinguishing facilities, widening residential roads, and widening roads in the Batu Merah settlements.

Abstract

Subsidized housing is one of the main programs to provide livable housing that is affordable for low-income communities. However, often in development and environmental management, livability aspects are not paid attention to which can affect the level of community comfort and the quality of the housing itself. This condition can be seen in Bukit Hijau Urimessing Housing, which is currently the only subsidized housing in Ambon City. The condition of infrastructure and facilities such as roads, waste facilities and accessibility are still inadequate. The aim of this research is to measure the level of livability of Bukit Hijau Urimessing Housing, which is based on aspects of housing livability. This research uses a quantitative approach with quantitative descriptive analysis techniques and scoring analysis methods on 11 (eleven) housing livability indicators. The results of the analysis show that there are 5 (five) aspects with a level of livability included in the low category, namely the availability/quality of residential roads, access to transportation services, waste, drainage networks and security and safety of the residential environment. This condition reinforces the problems that often occur in the construction of subsidized housing, namely related to facility readiness, location not paying attention to accessibility and environmental management that is not optimalt.

Abstract

Pasumpahan Island in Padang City has great potential as an ecotourism destination, but its unplanned development risks causing environmental degradation and conflicts over space use. Careful planning is needed to align tourism activities with long-term conservation efforts. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the potential and biophysical carrying capacity of the island and formulate a spatial planning concept based on sustainable ecotourism principles. This study uses a descriptive method with a spatial analysis approach. The research stages include site analysis to identify physical characteristics, analysis of regional carrying capacity to determine development capacity limits, and analysis of the application of ecotourism principles in the local context. The results of the study produced a spatial planning concept that divides Pasumpahan Island into three main zones: a conservation zone to protect coastal ecosystems and vegetation; a buffer zone as a center for controlled ecotourism activities such as environmental education; and a service zone concentrated on environmentally friendly accommodation and supporting facilities. This concept is designed based on the pillars of ecotourism, namely conservation, empowerment of the local community economy, and increasing environmental awareness for tourists. It is concluded that the application of this zoning model is a crucial integrative strategy to optimize the tourism potential of Pasumpahan Island in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The availability of spatial data on clean water infrastructure that is not yet integrated in the Negeri Mamala makes it difficult for the state government to monitor networks, determine repair priorities, and plan the development of clean water services. This community service activity aims to produce a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based map of clean water infrastructure, identify the existing conditions of the infrastructure, and enhance the capacity of state officials in utilizing spatial data. The activity involves Negeri Mamala and local communities as participants in the mapping and data validation process. The implementation methods include initial coordination, field surveys, GPS mapping, technical observations, participatory interviews, data processing using ArcGIS 10.8, joint validation with partners, and guidance on map utilization. Data analysis was conducted in a descriptive-spatial manner to identify infrastructure conditions, location distribution, and connectivity of the clean water network. The results of the activities showed that 13 infrastructure points were successfully mapped, including water sources, storage tanks, drilled wells, dug wells, service points, and distribution pipe networks. The outputs of the activities include digital maps, printed maps, and technical infrastructure notes. This GIS-based participatory mapping can support planning, network evaluation, and the strengthening of clean water governance in Negeri Mamala. This activity is still limited to mapping the existing conditions of clean water infrastructure. Therefore, further data development and analysis are needed to support more sustainable service planning

Abstract

ABSTRACT The availability of basic service infrastructure is essential for promoting equitable regional development and improving community welfare. However, previous studies on infrastructure in Central Maluku Regency have primarily focused on individual sectors and have not provided a comprehensive assessment through a basic service infrastructure index that can support evidence-based policymaking. Therefore, this study is important to provide an integrated evaluation of infrastructure performance and identify development priorities. This study aims to identify the availability of basic service infrastructure and analyze the infrastructure index of Central Maluku Regency in 2024. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using secondary data collected from relevant government agencies and analyzed through a composite index. The findings reveal that the education sector achieved the highest infrastructure index and was classified as good, followed by the health sector in the moderate category. In contrast, land transportation and, particularly, clean water infrastructure recorded the lowest performance, significantly reducing the overall infrastructure achievement. Consequently, the composite infrastructure index of Central Maluku Regency falls into the poor category. These findings highlight the need to prioritize investment in clean water infrastructure, road improvement, and equitable health service provision to support sustainable regional development.

Abstract

Rural spatial planning is a crucial aspect in efforts to control land use so that management can be carried out optimally and sustainably. The preparation of a village settlement spatial plan is expected to be one of the solutions to address the challenges of village space and land utilization, especially future challenges such as the need for residential land by village residents. The approach used is a descriptive qualitative approach aimed at identifying factors within an area, such as physical and non-physical conditions, which will later serve as the basis for generating design ideas (alternative designs). Data collection techniques were carried out through field observation and obtained from relevant sources such as literature studies, government sources, and articles related to this community service activity. The analytical techniques used include site analysis and design, which form the foundation for developing planning concepts and conducting discussions with the community to obtain feedback on the proposed spatial concept. The analysis results show that planning using the Redevelopment concept in the form of Homestays is appropriate to be implemented in Lonthor Village. The results were discussed with the village community, and while they accepted the design, they also raised obstacles and challenges regarding its implementation if it were to be realized.

Abstract

The Ir. M. Putuhena Road corridor is a key access route in Ambon City, characterized by significant pedestrian activity—particularly among university students, faculty members, and local residents. However, this high level of pedestrian activity is not fully supported by adequate facilities, a situation that impacts user safety, comfort, and accessibility. This study aims to analyze the walkability level of the Ir. M. Putuhena Road corridor. It employs a quantitative descriptive approach involving field observations, documentation, and questionnaires administered to 100 pedestrian facility users selected via accidental sampling. The walkability analysis is based on Krambeck’s (2006) indicators, covering aspects of safety and security, comfort and attractiveness, and policy support. A scoring system was used to calculate the walkability index. The results indicate a walkability index score of 61 for the Ir. M. Putuhena Road corridor, placing it in the "good" category. Nevertheless, certain conditions require improvement, including limited, narrow, or damaged sidewalks; a lack of pedestrian crossings and shading; and the presence of obstructions along the pedestrian path. These findings demonstrate that enhancing the quality and completeness of pedestrian facilities remains essential to optimizing safety, comfort, and accessibility for pedestrians.
