Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the Inquiry-Based Learning model on students' critical thinking ability in two locations, namely Makassar Aviation Polytechnic and Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic. The research sample consisted of 48 learners selected in total sampling. The research method used was a pretest-posttest design with a single group (one group pretest-posttest design). The data obtained were analyzed using an independent T-test. The results showed that simultaneously, the Inquiry-Based Learning model did not significantly influence students' critical thinking ability. It means that there are no other variables that can cause a decrease in the value of critical thinking ability (variable Y). However, it should be noted that this study was only conducted with one group with no comparison or control group, so the results may be limited in generalizing the results broadly. Thus, further research can be carried out by adding variables or the number of samples to deepen understanding of the Inquiry-Based Learning model's influence on students' critical thinking ability.

Abstract

This research delves into the complex relationship between higher education curricula and the rapidly evolving industry landscape within the Indonesian context. The study aims to assess the alignment of higher education curricula with the Industry's ever-changing demands. This alignment is of paramount importance as it directly influences the readiness of graduates to meet industry requirements. The research employs a multi-dimensional analysis framework, examining various factors influencing curriculum-industry alignment. These factors encompass curriculum content, industry expectations, and students' educational experiences. The study seeks to provide a holistic perspective on this alignment through an array of research methods, including curriculum analysis, surveys, and interviews with industry representatives and educators. The significance of this research is twofold. First, it contributes to the ongoing discourse on curriculum development within higher education, particularly within the Indonesian context. Second, it offers practical insights that can inform policy decisions and curriculum development in higher education institutions. Understanding the nuances of curriculum-industry alignment is crucial for preparing students effectively for the workforce and ensuring that the education system meets the evolving needs of the Industry. It is essential to acknowledge the limitations of this study, primarily related to the dynamic nature of industries and resource constraints. Nevertheless, the findings hold the potential to drive positive changes in the Indonesian higher education landscape, improving the responsiveness of curricula to the Industry and enhancing graduates' preparedness to face the challenges of a rapidly evolving job market. This research contributes to the broader conversation on curriculum alignment in higher education and offers a nuanced perspective within the Indonesian context.

Abstract

The quality of education is assessed based on the condition of educational institutions, which should be well-maintained and meet all requirements, along with the various components involved in the educational process. This study aims to determine the influence of training, further education, and teaching experience on improving the professionalism of productive instructors at Jayapura Aviation Polytechnic. The purposive sampling method is used to obtain 40 productive instructors as respondents based on ex-post facto research, and the data analysis is conducted through the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) program. The results show that training, further education, and teaching experience significantly influence the professionalism of educators/instructors/lecturers at Jayapura Aviation Polytechnic. Educators/instructors/lecturers with adequate teaching experience and participation in sufficient training will help realize national education goals and establish quality standards.
