Abstract

Children are an age group who adapts very well to the stimuli what they receive from their environment, such as movies and games. Unfortunately, entertainment these days contains many negative messages that has an impact on the erosion of moral values, which are, then implemented in the form of negative thought patterns and behaviors.The purpose of this research is to examine how children's entertainment media can be educational, entertaining, and easy to understand with a case study of the animated tv series ‘Riko: Jarak Matahari dan Bumi’This research was studied using the method of pragmatic semiotics initiated by Charles Sanders Peirce by analyzing semiotic elements, then validated with the psychological theory of child development. The results of the analysis show that the semiotic elements presented in ‘‘Riko: Jarak Matahari dan Bumi’ are in line with the psychological principles of child development.

Abstract

AbstractLocal artifacts as the assets of cultural heritage has a big contribution in establishing national identity. As well as sundanese traditional bamboos cookware and tableware which had been living in their tradition for a very long time until postmodern era. It can be said that besides as functional objects, the traditional cookware and tableware also able to afford the system of meaning, ideology and beliefs of the local society.the purpose of this research is to learn sundanese visual culture on traditional bamboos cookware and tableware, such as aseupan and seeng, and boboko, till they were able to transform into an identity of sundanese itself. This research is using interpretivism paradigm with qualitative-inductive approach. Analysis method applied was ethnography and semiotics based on charles sanders pierce’s theory which shown on descriptive form. AbstrakArtefak budaya lokal sebagai kekayaan budaya nusantara memiliki peran besar dalam membentuk identitas bangsa. Salah satu contoh, perkakas memasak dan perangkat makan tradisional sunda suku berbahan bambu yang hidup dalam tradisi masyarakatnya sejak lama. Bisa dikatakan bahwa perkakas memasak dan perangkat makan tradisional ini disamping sebagai objek fungsional, juga mampu mengakomodasi sistem makna, ideologi serta kepercayaan yang dianut masyarakatnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mempelajari budaya visual suku sunda pada perkakas memasak dan perangkat makan tradisional berbahan bambu diantaranya aseupan dan seeng, serta boboko, hingga mampu mewujud sebagai identitas dari suku sunda itu sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma interpretivisme dengan pendekatan kualitatif-induktif. Metode analisis yang diterapkan adalah etnografi dan semiotika berdasarkan teori charles sanders pierce yang disajikan dalam bentuk deskriptif.Kata kunci : identitas, sunda, tradisional, alat makan.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan mendesain Brandbook dari logo kegiatan Baca Jakarta untuk penguatan citra kegiatan agar lebih dikenal oleh masyarakat Jakarta. Pengabdian juga bertujuan  sebagai implementasi project based learning sehingga dalam pelaksanannnya diterapkan metode  pembelajaran diluar kampus sesuai konsep Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka dengan melibatkan interaksi langsung antara mahasiswa dengan mitra. Brandbook dari logo kegiatan Baca Jakarta merupakan hasil karya dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang didesain tim pengabdi yang terdiri dari dua Dosen dan dua mahasiswa untuk mitra Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan DKI Jakarta yang bertujuan meningkatkan budaya literasi. Brandbook merupakan aspek solusi yang memiliki fungsi sebagai panduan visual penggunaan logo ketika diaplikasikan pada berbagai jenis media publikasi seperti poster, merchandise/stationary, artikel, sosial media.Kata Kunci: brandbook, budaya membaca,  project based learningThis community service activity aims to create brandbook of Baca Jakarta’s logo to strengthen the image of the programme to be well known by the people of Jakarta. The community service also aims to implement project-based learning, this is learning methods are applied outside the campus in accordance with the concept of Merdeka Learning Kampus Merdeka by involving direct interaction between students and clients. Community service consisted of a team of two lecturers and two students from the Department of Graphic Design. The brandbook of Baca Jakarta’s logo was designed by Graphic Design major for Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan DKI Jakarta as clients with the aim of increasing literacy culture. Brandbook is an aspect of the solution that has a function as a visual guide to the use of logos when applied to various types of media campaigns such as posters, merchandise/stationary, articles, social media.Keywords:  brandbook, literacy culture,  project based learning

Abstract

The context of this research is the phenomenon of a value change of murals in modern society, from a previously negative image to a positive image. Nowadays murals can even become a form of visual media that able to accommodate various sociocultural discourses. The aim of the research is to analyze how murals can be semantically as a contemporar media for various socio-cultural discourses within the visual communication design paradigm. The research uses a case study of a gardening for food security-themed, created by researchers as part of community service activities in Kelurahan Srengseng Sawah, South Jakarta in 2023. Murals as visual culture are analyzed using the design thinking method initiated by John Edward Arnold, then murals are studied as visual culture, and validate to communication psychology theory. The results show that murals has a communication and visual function as an ambient media (to build an atmosphere of activities), aesthetic value, visual text, murals as campaign media that encourages the society to actively participate in gardening activities as part of an independent food security programme led by PKK (Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga) in Kelurahan Srengseng Sawah. By those semantic contents, murals through of a cognitive, affective and behavioral approach, managed to build a positive image and have a positive impact to the community to do gardening activities along with awareness of the importance of independent food safety efforts.
