Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in the IPAS subject at SD Negeri Selomerto, where learning was still dominated by conventional methods. The research aimed to determine the effect of using Augmented Reality (AR) media based on Assemblr Edu on students' learning outcomes in the topic of Cultural Diversity and Local Wisdom. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 52 students divided into an experimental class and a control class, each comprising 26 students. Data were collected through observation, tests (pretest and posttest), and documentation. Data analysis included validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, homogeneity testing, Independent Sample t-Test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the experimental class achieved a higher average posttest score (89.81) than the control class (74.04). The N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.7546 (high category), while the control class obtained 0.3799 (moderate category). The Independent Sample t-Test revealed a t-value of 6.122, which was greater than the t-table value of 2.009, with a significance value of less than 0.05. These findings indicate a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. Therefore, the use of Augmented Reality (AR) media based on Assemblr Edu is proven to be effective in improving IPAS learning outcomes among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Selomerto.

Abstract

This article provides an in-depth examination of the role of puzzle games as an educational tool for fostering creativity in early childhood. Creativity is defined as the ability to generate new, meaningful, and useful ideas or solutions that contribute to a child's overall development. In the context of early childhood education, creativity is a crucial developmental component, influencing cognitive, emotional, social, and problem-solving abilities that support future learning. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this study illustrates how children interact with puzzle activities and how these interactions stimulate their creative thinking skills. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers, and documentation of children’s activities while engaging with puzzle games. The findings reveal that puzzle activities significantly stimulate multiple aspects of children’s development. Cognitively, puzzles enhance visual – spatial skills, pattern recognition, visual memory, as well as logical and analytical thinking. Motorically, handling and arranging puzzle pieces helps strengthen fine motor skills and hand – eye coordination. From a socio – emotional perspective, puzzles teach children cooperation, turn-taking, perseverance, and resilience when facing challenges. Completing puzzles also fosters a sense of accomplishment and boosts self-confidence. Furthermore, puzzle play encourages children to experiment, develop strategies, and express imagination through exploring shapes and structures. Overall, the study concludes that puzzles serve as a highly stimulating educational medium capable of effectively fostering children’s creativity. The wide variation in puzzle types, shapes, and difficulty levels enables teachers to tailor activities according to individual developmental stages, including children with special needs. Thus, puzzles are not merely toys, but multifunctional educational tools that provide meaningful, engaging, and long-term benefits for early childhood learning.
