Abstract

Latar Belakang: Perubahan warna gigi (diskolorasi) merupakan problem estetika yang berdampak padapsikologis terutama pada gigi anterior. Seseorang akan melakukan perawatan terhadap giginya untuk mengatasimasalah estetiknya. Salah satu upaya dokter gigi untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah bleaching. Tujuan:Mengetahui pengaruh air perasan jeruk nipis konsentrasi 2,5% terhadap email gigi yang mengalami diskolorasi,serta untuk menentukan waktu optimum air perasan jeruk nipis konsentrasi 2,5% dalam memutihkan email gigiyang yang mengalami diskolorasi dengan variasi waktu 30 menit, 45 menit dan 60 menit. Metode Penelitian:Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah eksperimental laboratorik dengan rancangan pretest-posttest group. Alatuji interpretasi warna yang digunakan adalah Spectrophotometer UV-VIS 2401 PC. Analisis data menggunakanuji Paired-T test dan Oneway Annova. Hasil: Nilai uji intensitas warna sesudah perendaman air perasan jeruknipis konsentrasi 2,5% lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan sebelum perendaman air perasan jeruk nipis konsentrasi2,5% dan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan antar kelompok (30 menit, 45 menit dan 60 menit). Kesimpulan: Jeruknipis mampu merubah warna gigi yang terdiskolorasi menjadi lebih putih dengan konsentrasi 2,5% dengan lamaperendaman 30 menit, 45 menit dan 60 menit.

Abstract

Resin komposit adalah salah satu jenis bahan tumpatan gigi anterior yang populer karena memiliki kelebihan dalam bidang estetik dan sewarna gigi. Komposit nanofiller memiliki sifat mekanik lebih baik dibandingkan microhybrid dan dapat mempertahankan kehalusan selama pemakaian setara microfiller. Resin komposit dapat mengalami perubahan warna di dalam rongga mulut, salah satunya dapat disebabkan oleh minuman dengan pH rendah. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui adanya pengaruh perendaman di dalam minuman susu fermentasi terhadap perubahan warna resin komposit nanofiller. Selain itu untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan perubahan warna resin komposit nanofiller selama perendaman 6, 12, dan 18 jam. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratories dengan rancangan penelitian desain grup pretest and post test. Sampel berjumlah 24 direndam dalam susu fermentasi selama 6, 12, dan 18 jam. Pengukuran perubahan warna menggunakan spektrofotometer optik untuk mengetahui nilai intensitas cahaya. Nilai perubahan warna tampak pada besarnya nilai intensitas cahaya yang muncul pada alat spektrofotometer optik.  Analisis data menggunakan uji Paired-T Test dan One Way Annova. Nilai uji intensitas cahaya  sesudah perlakuan lebih tinggi dari sebelum perlakuan. Selisih rata-rata nilai uji intensitas cahaya sebelum dan setellah perlakuan paling tinggi pada perendaman 18 jam dan paling rendah pada perendaman 6 jam. Resin komposit nanofiller mengalami perubahan warna setelah dilakukan perendaman dalam minuman susu fermentasi dengan perbedaan yang signifikan. Kata kunci: Resin Komposit, Perubahan Warna, Estetik, Susu Fermentasi, Nanofiller

Abstract

Background: Periodontal disease is one of the most common oral diseases in Indonesia. Poor oral hygiene behavior has been seen as a risk factor for periodontal disease. Oral hyigiene behavior is different in each individual or group, as well as the fishpond community. Purpose: To analyze the influence of oral hygiene behavior on periodontal disease status of fishpond community. Methods: This study was a observational analytic study with cross sectional approach. The samples were fishpond community in Banjar Kemuning village, district Sidoarjo which amounts 100 people in age range between 26 to 65 years old. Oral hygiene behavior in the form of knowledges and attitudes were measured using a closed questionnaire and oral hygiene behavior in the form of practices were measured using a checklist questionnaire, while Periodontal Disease Index (PDI) was used to measured periodontal disease status. Results: Ordinal regression analysis of the oral hygiene behavior on periodontal disease status showed significant value that was 0,043. Conclusion: Oral hygiene behavior has influence on periodontal disease status of fishpond community in District Sidoarjo. Abstract

Introduction:Teeth are hard tissue that serve as the process of mastication in humans. In the event of tooth damages, they can not perform their functions optimally. Dental hard tissue damages include caries, attrition, abrasion, erosion and fracture.The damage of tooth hard tissues can change the anatomical shape of the tooth which make them fail to function properly. Restoring the damaged anatomical shape can be achieved by restoration or fillings.Objective: To know the indication of restoration treatments in patients who attended RSGM University of Jember in 2015.Methods:This research was a descriptive study with Cross Sectional Study approach. The study was conducted at RSGM University of Jember. The number of respondents were 100 which was obtained by using the Slovin formula.Result and Conclusion: The prevalence of restoration treatments indication in patient who attended RSGM University of Jember in 2015 was 89% . It was distributed based on sex was 52,8% for women and 47,2% for men, based on age groups, 21-26 year-old-group had the highest prevalence, while 33-44 year-old-group had the lowest prevalence.  Keywords: restoration treatments, prevalence

Abstract

Background. Root canal irrigation is important for debridement and disinfection in rootcanal treatment to eliminate population of microorganisms that exist in the root canal.Irrigation materials must be biocompatible and can not cause biological response.Objective. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of pod Mangosteen extractas alternative root canal irrigation materials to eliminate bacterial colonies. Method. Thisresearch was experimental study with post test control group design. The method wasdone by counting the number of mix bacterial colonies in the media used colony countertool. 24 samples were divided into 4 groups, they were 80% pod mangosteen extract,100% pod mangosteen extract, 2.5% NaOCl and distilled water. Results andConclusions. Pod mangosteen extract with 100% concentration had antibacterialcapabilities similar to 2.5% NaOCl. Pod mangosteen extract (Garcinia mangostana L.)was able to eliminate mix bacteria in root canals.Keywords: biocompatible, irrigation materials, the mangosteen peel extract, the numberof mix bacterial colonies

Abstract

Background: Root canal irrigation is one, of important in endodonti treatment because if ignored can lead to failure. 3% Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is one of irrigation solution is often used. To reduce the effects of toxicity of root canal irrigation, it can be used for alternative materials canal irrigation are safe to use. One is piper betle plant. Based on previous research phytochemical test, the piper betle leaf has anti-bacterial effect. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the antibacterial effect, difference antibacterial effect and effectiveness of red piper betle leaf extract and green piper betle leaf compared with 3% H2O2 solution to Streptococcus viridans. Methods: This study is an experimental laboratory with research design post only control design. This study uses pitting. Each petridish divided into 6 holes, spilled A 3% H2O2, B sterile distilled water, C 50% red piper betle leaf extract, D 50% green piper betle leaf extract, E 100% leaf extract a red piper betle and F 100% green piper betle leaf extract. All incubated for 24 hours at 37 ° C and the inhibition zone diameter measured. Results: The results showed significant difference between the extracts of green and red piper betle. Statistical test with Mann Whitney test showed a significant difference between each group except 3% H2O2 and 50% green piper betle extract. Conclusions and Recommendations: Conclusions from this research are green piper betle leaf extract and red piper betle leaf extract can inhibit the growth of bacteria S. viridans. There were significant differences antibacterial effect between green piper betle leaf extract and red piper betle leaf extract with 3% H2O2 to S. Viridans. 100% Green piper betle leaf extract effective as an antibacterial against S. viridans. Need more research on the use of green piper betle leaf extract and red piper betle leaf extract as an alternative material of root canal irrigation. Abstract

Self etch dentin bonding created to make light easily activate the application of composite resin on tooth surface. The monomer content has acid effect that could irritate tooth pulp. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of light exposure duration of self etch dentin bonding on toxicity of human gingival fibroblast of cell culture by MTT assay. Self etch dentin bonding was used as on experimental unit and the sample was exposed by visible light curing in different duration: 10, 20, 30 seconds and immerged in artificial saliva in pH 7 for 24 hours. 100 µl artificial saliva was exposed to human gingival fibroblast of cell culture 20.000 cells/100 µl RPMI for 24 hours. Toxicity was evaluated by MTT assay, optical density was measured using 550 nm spectrophotometer. The data was analyzed using Kruskal Wallis in 5% degree of significance. The result showed that increasing exposure duration (10, 20, 30 seconds) of self etch dentin bonding will reduce the toxicity of human gingival fibroblast of cell culture. It is concluded that 30 seconds-exposure of self etch dentin bonding will reduce the toxicity of human gingival fibroblast of cell culture.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Smear layer merupakan lapisan tipis berisi substansi organik dan anorganik yang keberadaannya dapat menghalangi penetrasi medikamen ke tubuli dentin, sehingga harus dihilangkan dengan bahan irigasi saluran akar yaitu EDTA 17%. Bahan alami yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif dalam membersihkan smear layer pada dinding saluran akar adalah air perasan pulpa kakao 50% karena mengandung berbagai senyawa asam dan saponin. Tujuan penelitian menganalisis kemampuan air perasan pulpa kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) 50% dalam membersihkan smear layer pada dinding saluran akar Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian experimental laboratoris dengan rancangan penelitian the posttest only control group design. Terdapat dua kelompok uji yaitu air perasan pulpa kakao 50% dan EDTA 17%, masing-masing adalah 4 buah. Sampel yang digunakan adalah gigi insisif sapi yang direndam dalam larutan salin. Sampel dipotong mahkotanya setinggi servikal gigi dan di preparasi saluran akarnya dengan teknik konvensional menggunakan file no 45-80 dengan panjang kerja 21 mm, dirigasi dengan air perasan pulpa kakao 50% dan EDTA 17% tiap pergantian instrumen. Bagian yang diamati dengan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) 2000x adalah 1/3 tengah akar gigi bukal. Hasil pemotretan SEM dilakukan perhitungan skor menurut sistem skoring Hülsmann dan dilakukan analisis data dengan uji statistik Mann Whitney U Test. Hasil: Hasil penelitian dan analisis data didapatkan p=0,495 yang menunjukan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara keduanya. Kedua kelompok memiliki rerata skor 2 yang artinya sebagian orifis tubuli dentin terbuka dan terdapat sedikit smear layer. Simpulan: Air perasan pulpa kakao 50% mampu membersihkan smear layer saluran akar yang sebanding/setara dengan EDTA 17%.Kata kunci: air perasan pulpa kakao; bahan irigasi saluran akar; smear layerABSTRACTIntroduction: Smear layer is a thin layer containing organic and inorganic substances whose presence can prevent the penetration of the medicament into the dentinal tubules, so it must be removed with root canal irrigation material, namely 17% EDTA. Natural ingredients that can be used to clean the smear layer on the root canal wall are 50% cocoa pulp juice because it contains various acidic compounds and saponins. Therefore, the study aimed to analyze the ability of 50% cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) pulp juice to clean the smear layer on the root canal walls. Methods: This study was an experimental laboratory study with the posttest only control group design. There were two test groups, namely 50% cocoa pulp juice and 17% EDTA, which were four pieces. The sample used was a bovine incisor immersed in a saline solution. The samples were crowned at the teeth' cervical level, and the root canals were prepared using conventional techniques using file no. 45-80 with a working length of 21 mm, irrigated with 50% cocoa pulp juice and 17% EDTA at each instrument change. The part observed with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) 2000x was the middle 1/3 of the buccal tooth root. The results of the SEM observation were calculated according to the Hülsmann scoring system, and data were analyzed using the Mann Whitney U Test statistical test. Results: The results of the study and data analysis obtained p = 0.495, which indicates that there is no significant difference between the two. Both groups had a mean score of 2, meaning that most of the dentinal tubular orifices are open, and there is a thin smear layer. Conclusions: 50% cocoa pulp juice was able to clean the root canal smear layer, equivalent to 17% EDTA.Keywords: cocoa pulp juice; root canal irrigation agents; smear layer

Abstract

Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) is restoration material commonly used in dental practice.One of GIC strengths is its low level of microleakage. GIC is applied on the cavity with low mastication weight like Fuji® II, Fuji® VII (white), Fuji® VII ( pink). The aim of this study was to observe the microleakage level of cervical restoratin edge with Fuji® II, Fuji® VII ( white), and Fuji® VII ( pink).Each group contained of 6 samples of GIC filling of cervical third buccal surface , immersed in methylene blue solution, cut across linguo-buccal and subsequently observed on its edge microleakage using binoculer microscope indicated with the depth of methylene blue penetration.The result showed that edge microleakage from the lowest up to the highest were Fuji® VII pink, Fuji® VII white and Fuji® II. Anova statistical analysis showed no significant differences among the three groups.
