Abstract

The growing awareness of the importance of halal products has significantly influenced various sectors, including the cosmetics industry. However, prior research has predominantly focused on halal food and beverages, while halal skincare products, such as Somethinc, have received limited academic attention. Furthermore, studies that integrate halal literacy, labeling, product quality, and price about purchase decisions, with a willingness to pay a premium price as a mediating variable, remain scarce. This study examines the influence of halal literacy, halal label, product quality, and product price on the purchasing decisions of Somethinc skincare products among Gen Z, mediated by willingness to pay a premium price. The research method used is quantitative, with primary data obtained through questionnaires. The sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, with a total of 272 respondents. The data analysis technique used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), analyzed using the software SmartPLS version 3. The results of this study indicate that the variables halal literacy, product quality, and product price do not directly affect purchasing decisions, while the halal label variable and willingness to pay a premium price directly influence purchasing decisions. The halal literacy and halal label variables do not affect willingness to pay a premium price, whereas product quality and product price variables do affect willingness to pay a premium price. Additionally, halal literacy and halal labels do not influence purchasing decisions when mediated by a willingness to pay a premium price, whereas product quality and product price do influence purchasing decisions when mediated by a willingness to pay a premium price.

Abstract

Background: The evolution of inheritance practices within the Pakpak Muslim population in Dairi indicates a progressive transition from traditional to Islamic inheritance law (Faraidh). Historically, Pakpak customary law favored male heirs, precluding daughters from inheriting real property. Increased legal understanding, discussions on gender equality, and marrying with non-Pakpak persons have prompted the community to accept Islamic inheritance principles voluntarily Purpose: This study examines the factors behind this change and assesses its ramifications via the lenses of Living Law Theory, Legal Awareness Theory, and Maqasid al-Shariah Methods: Utilizing a qualitative case study with a normative-empirical framework, data were gathered via interviews with traditional leaders, religious authorities, and community members. Results: The results indicate that Islamic inheritance law is regarded as more equitable and consistent with religious duties and changing societal standards. The transition transpires spontaneously through musyawarah (family deliberation) and religious influence rather than state-imposed legal reform. The research enhances the dialogue on Islamic legal pluralism by illustrating the coexistence and evolution of customary and Islamic legal systems. Implication: The findings hold practical significance for policymakers and religious organizations, highlighting the necessity of legal awareness initiatives and community-oriented law adjustments to promote gender justice and equitable inheritance distribution Originality: comparative analysis of Malaysia's shift from Adat Temenggong inheritance to Faraidh, emphasizing how voluntary, community-driven transformation might be an alternative to state-mandated legal reform

Abstract

The milkfish pindang business in Junok Village, Sreseh District, Sampang Regency, is a leading business that is highly sought after by the local community. However, this business has not yet developed optimally and is still limited to the area. Therefore, efforts are needed to optimize village downstreaming and access to Islamic microfinance to support milkfish pindang production so that it can expand further and provide a greater economic impact for the community. This study aims to analyze the role of the village government in optimizing both of these aspects and contributing to sustainable local economic development. The research method used was qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and observation. The results show that the Junok village government has undertaken various efforts to optimize village downstreaming, including milkfish cultivation training, setting harvest schedules, and also plans to facilitate financing from Islamic microfinance institutions (LKMS). Despite several obstacles, such as a lack of financial knowledge among farmers and limited equipment, the village government continues to strive to address these issues through mentoring and education. Overall, the efforts made have been quite optimal and have the potential to support the development of the milkfish pindang business in the future.
