Abstract

HOTS is a lesson designed to prepare the 21st century generation. Each student's HOTS ability is certainly different, and this is certainly influenced by many factors. This study aims to determine the relationship between learning motivation, self-confidence and initial ability with students' HOTS abilities. The sample of this study was 32 students of class XI MIPA 2 taken by random sampling technique. Data analysis used multiple linear simple regression test. The results showed that (1) there was a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and students' HOTS abilities, (2) there was a positive and significant relationship between self-confidence and students' HOTS abilities; (3) there is a positive and significant relationship between initial ability and students' HOTS ability; and (4) there is a significant relationship between learning motivation, self-confidence and initial ability with students' HOTS abilities with a determination coefficient of 67.8%.HOTS merupakan pembelajaran yang dirancang untuk menyiapkan generasi abad 21. Kemampuan HOTS setiap siswa tentu berbeda-beda, dan hal tersebut tentunya dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan motivasi belajar, kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan awal dengan kemampuan HOTS siswa. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA 2 sebanyak 32 orang yang diambil dengan teknik random sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji regresi sederhana linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara motivasi belajar dengan kemampuan HOTS siswa, (2) ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kepercayaan diri dengan kemampuan HOTS siswa; (3) ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan awal dengan kemampuan HOTS siswa; dan (4) ada hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi belajar, kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan awal dengan kemampuan HOTS siswa dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 67,8%.

Abstract

The quality of an education always refers to the results or academic achievements achieved by students. Chemistry can be a place or means for students to practice critical thinking skills, be creative and be able to solve problems where students relate them to everyday phenomena. Certainly, there are many factors that influence the success of students in learning chemistry. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and creative thinking skills with student chemistry learning outcomes. The sample of this study was 50 students of class XI taken by random sampling technique. Data were collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire as well as creative thinking ability tests and chemistry learning outcomes tests. Data analysis using multiple linear regression test. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and student chemistry learning outcomes, there was a positive and significant relationship between creative thinking skills and student chemistry learning outcomes; there is a significant and simultaneous relationship between self-efficacy and creative thinking skills with student chemistry learning outcomes with a coefficient of determination of 36.2%.Kualitas suatu pendidikan selalu mengacu pada hasil atau prestasi akademik yang dicapai oleh peserta didik. Ilmu kimia dapat menjadi wadah atau sarana bagi siswa untuk melatih kemampuan berpikit kritis, kreatif dan mampu memecahkan masalah dimana siswa mengaitkannya dengan fenomena sehari-hari. Tentunya ada banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan siswa dalam belajar kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan self-efficacy dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dengan hasil belajar kimia siswa. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI sebanyak 50 orang yang diambil dengan teknik random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket self-efficacy serta tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan tes hasil belajar kimia. Analisis data menggunakan uji regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara self-efficacy dengan hasil belajar kimia siswa, terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan berpikir kreatif dengan hasil belajar kimia siswa; terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dan simultan antara self-efficacy dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dengan hasil belajar kimia siswa dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 36,2%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the adsorption ability of betel nut skin-activated carbon on Fe metal in industrial wastewater. Betel nut skin carbon is activated using H2SO4 and HNO3. To identify the quality of adsorption using betel nut skin adsorbents, carbon and activated carbon are characterized using XRD and BET analysis. To determine the concentration of Fe metal adsorbed in the adsorption process, it was analyzed using AAS by determining the optimum conditions for the adsorption of Fe metal from the adsorbent using mass and contact time variations. The XRD characterization results show that betel nut skin carbon activated with sulfuric acid has a higher degree of crystallinity (41.03%) than that activated with nitric acid (20.61%). Betel nut skin activated carbon has a larger pore size of 3.2110 nm than the pore size of betel nut skin carbon of 2.2644 nm. The optimum condition of activated carbon on the adsorption of Fe metal was obtained at a mass of 1 gram with an optimum contact time of 45 minutes. The adsorption capacity of betel nut skin-activated carbon obtained was 1.4174 mg/g and the adsorption efficiency of betel nut skin-activated carbon was 99.84%. The initial concentration of Fe metal obtained was 25.86 ppm, after adding activated carbon from betel nut skin is decreased the concentration of Fe metal obtained was 3.72 ppm. So, the ability of betel nut skin adsorbent to adsorb Fe metal in industrial wastewater was 22.14 ppm.Keywords: Activated carbon; Adsorption; Amorphous; Betel nut skin; Wastewater

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, And Society) based modules on colloidal system, determine student learning outcomes after using SETS-based modules in learning and student responses to the modules. This study uses a 4-D development model consisting of define, design, development, and dissemination. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 11 Medan which was carried out for 7 months. The feasibility of module was seen through a feasibility questionnaire for media and material experts based on the BSNP standard with a Likert scale of 1 to 5. Validation data obtained from media and material experts on SETS-based modules obtained an average percentage of 83.58% with the category valid/worthy. Student learning outcomes were obtained through the calculation of N-Gain test, which was equal to 0.74 in the high category and the average posttest score of students was 84.67. Student responses to the SETS-based module obtained an average percentage of 91.24% with a very high questionnaire interpretation. Based on the results obtained by the researcher, it can be concluded that this SETS-based module is appropriate for use in colloidal learning with a high student learning success rate and student responses that fall into very good criteria.
