Abstract

Abstract

The Educational Personnel Training Agency has the responsibility of preparing vocational high school teachers who possess reflective learning skills. Reflective learning involves the practice of engaging in reflective thinking, where individuals delve into their experiences in order to gain fresh insights and appreciations. This study is motivated by the recognition of the importance of Micro Teaching in shaping aspiring vocational high school teachers. To address this concern, it is essential to develop a reflective learning model that is rooted in the Unity of Sciences, which will aid in the preparation of these candidates. The aim of this study is to establish a reflective learning model, grounded in the Unity of Sciences, that will contribute to the growth of professional vocational high school teachers. The research methodology employs a development model design, which encompasses various stages including initial investigation, design, implementation, testing, evaluation, revision, and widespread implementation. The findings of this study indicate that the developed reflective learning model, based on the Unity of Sciences, is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing the competitiveness of vocational high school teacher candidates in the era of digital revolution.

Abstract

Power quality is a critical factor in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of modern power systems, particularly in distribution networks that extensively utilize power electronic equipment. One of the primary sources of harmonic distortion is the use of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), which operate as non-linear loads and cause current and voltage waveforms to deviate from their ideal sinusoidal shape. This study aims to analyze the harmonic characteristics generated by VSDs in the distribution system of PT. PLN ULP Tomohon, determine the levels of Total Harmonic Distortion of current (THD-I) and voltage (THD-V), and evaluate the effectiveness of harmonic mitigation using a passive single-tuned harmonic filter. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach through modeling and simulation of the power system using the Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) software. Technical system data, including transformer capacity, distribution network configuration, and load parameters, are modeled in the form of a Single Line Diagram (SLD) and analyzed using the Harmonic Load Flow module. The simulation results indicate that VSD operation produces dominant harmonics at the 5th and 7th orders, which significantly increase the THD levels within the system. The implementation of a passive single-tuned harmonic filter is shown to effectively reduce harmonic distortion, allowing the THD-I and THD-V values to approach or comply with the limits specified in the IEEE 519-2014 standard. Therefore, the application of appropriate harmonic mitigation methods can improve power quality, enhance energy efficiency, and increase the reliability of electrical power systems in distribution networks.

Abstract

Learning at vocational schools aims to prepare the younger generation for work or entrepreneurship. However, in Indonesia, vocational school graduates are the highest contributor to unemployment, namely 9.6%. To increase the competitiveness of graduates, vocational schools must improve the quality of education and vocational skills, especially scientific and mathematical process skills. The objective of this research is to assess the influence of incorporating the WhatsApp-assisted inquiry training on the science process skills and mathematical representation abilities of vocational school students enrolled in the electricity skills program. The study was carried out as a quasi-experiment employing a non-equivalent control group design. A saturated sample of 85 respondents from three classes, including one experimental class and two control classes, was utilized. Prior to the intervention, a pretest was administered. The experimental class received the inquiry training with WhatsApp, while the control class 1 received the inquiry training, and the control class 2 received the direct instruction. The findings of the study indicate that the inquiry training with WhatsApp yields a positive impact and is more effective in enhancing the science process skills and mathematical representation abilities of vocational school students in comparison to the inquiry training model and the direct instruction model, achieving an mean score of 84.16 and an N-Gain score of 0.72 in the high category.
