Abstract

The human development index is a benchmark for determining human welfare in a country. The human development index can be measured by various factors. In this study, the benchmarks used were gross domestic product and life expectancy after birth in Afghanistan and China for the period 1990 to 2021. This benchmark can be seen through the correlation test, where the results show an 80.35% relationship between the human development index and GDP. Meanwhile, the relationship between the human development index and life expectancy after birth was 97.07%. Then, to determine that the data was valid, the researcher used several regression analyses tests. With the regression analysis, researchers can see a comparison of human development in the two countries. Keywords: Human Development Index; Gross Domestic Product; Life Expectancy.

Abstract

Abstract: The issue of Open Defecation remains a serious challenge in Lampung Province. Various efforts have been made to address this issue through sanitation programs, but the results have not been optimal, necessitating research to identify the characteristics that impact ODF behavior. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of demographic, environmental, and governance variables on ODF behavior using SEM in the society of Lampung Province. This research examined secondary data on demographic, environmental, and governance variables, collected from 2015–2022 in Lampung Province. The developed SEM model identifies complex relationships. The research results show that demographic variables significantly influence ODF behavior with a p-value of 0.049, demographic variables significantly influence sanitation governance with a p-value of 0.001, environmental variables significantly influence ODF behavior with a p-value of 0.041, environmental variables also significantly influence sanitation governance with a p-value of 0.000, governance variables significantly influence ODF behavior with a p-value of 0.036, demographic variables through governance variables do not significantly influence ODF behavior with a p-value of 0.116, and environmental variables through governance variables significantly influence ODF behavior with a p-value of 0.037. The results of this research can be used to develop more effective policies and programs to eliminate open defecation in Lampung Province.
