Abstract

Conventional fuels such as kerosene, whose prices continue to increase and firewood is increasingly scarce, will cause many residents to experience difficulties in meeting their energy needs, both for their daily needs and for business needs. Daily cooking needs require a sufficient supply of fuel, such as kerosene, or firewood. The need for kerosene in a month is ± 30 liters, but its availability is often scarce, and when it is rare for retailers to sell it at multiple prices, this condition makes it even more difficult for people to meet their fuel needs. A service program to help provide solutions due to the scarcity of kerosene fuel. Training on making bus wood charcoal briquettes and training on the use of briquette stoves for household needs in Kamundu sub-district, Merauke, is very helpful for housewives (OAP) in making alternative fuels in the form of charcoal briquettes made from bus wood and also how to do it. using charcoal briquettes as fuel. After the training was held, we conducted monitoring regarding the making of bus wood charcoal briquettes by housewives (OAP) which they would then use as an alternative to kerosene fuel for their household needs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi jenis arang dalam proses pack carburizing terhadap laju keausan baja karbon rendah ST 37. Baja ST 37 dipilih karena karakteristiknya yang ulet namun memiliki kekerasan permukaan yang rendah, sehingga rentan terhadap keausan. Untuk meningkatkan ketahanan aus, dilakukan perlakuan panas melalui metode pack carburizing dengan menggunakan empat jenis arang berbeda: arang tempurung kelapa, arang kayu cemara, arang buah pinus, dan arang tulang kerbau. Setiap media arang dicampur dengan 10% NaCO₃ sebagai energizer, dipanaskan pada suhu 800°C selama 1 jam, lalu didinginkan dengan media air. Pengujian keausan dilakukan menggunakan metode abrasif. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa jenis arang sangat berpengaruh terhadap laju keausan. Spesimen tanpa perlakuan (raw material) memiliki laju keausan tertinggi sebesar 0,0076 gr/s, sementara spesimen dengan perlakuan menggunakan arang tulang kerbau menunjukkan laju keausan terendah sebesar 0,0038 gr/s. Analisa korelasi menghasilkan koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar -0,85, yang mengindikasikan hubungan negatif yang kuat antara jenis arang dengan laju keausan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa variasi jenis arang berpengaruh terhadap terhadap laju keausan sebesar sebesar 72,25%. Dan arang tulang kerbau merupakan media karbon terbaik untuk meningkatkan ketahanan aus baja ST 37 pada proses pack carburizing.
