Abstract

Business opportunities in the agricultural sector have great potential, especially in processing harvests into value-added products. The potential for developing processed harvest products in Balikpapan is substantial, given its role as a primary producer of secondary crops used as the main raw materials. Therefore, the Kalimantan Institute of Technology seeks to contribute to the development of community welfare, especially in Balikpapan. The method used is identifying problems and finding solutions.  The main problem faced by the Swa Tani Farmers group is the direct sale of their harvests to the collector or through safekeeping at nearby kiosks. The production of harvest-derived products is a part-time endeavor, with sales exclusively conducted through kiosks or WhatsApp (WA) groups. Community service activities have been implemented to foster an entrepreneurial spirit by encouraging creativity and innovation. The innovations carried out are in the form of developing processed harvest products and also management innovations in the marketing sector.  Marketing training contains material to provide an in-depth understanding of the importance of marketing strategies, as well as simple but effective marketing methods.  The practiced harvest product is in the form of sticks, with the primary raw materials for stick production being cassava, taro, and bananas.  Evaluation of the results of processed products shows that cassava sticks dominate in consumer choice, while taro sticks require further adjustments, and banana sticks need additional flavor aspects.

Abstract

An environmentally friendly technological system that can be utilized as a food source is the aquaponic system. Aquaponics is a way of farming that combines aquaculture and hydroponics, the goal is to raise fish and plants in a circulated environment and interconnected system. The advantage of the aquaponic system is that fish waste can be used as a source of organic fertilizer that is good for plant growth and the products produced are organic products because they only use fertilizer from fish waste that has gone through a biological process. Aquaponics applies a natural ecological system in which there is a mutually beneficial relationship between fish and plants. The application of aquaponics on Cemara beach can improve the economy of the community and as one of the sources of attraction of this tourist spot.

Abstract

As an institution equipped with resources and experts in the field of technology, universities hold significant potential to develop and provide innovative solutions to the challenges faced by the elderly. Therefore, this activity aims to design and implement a specialized walking aid tailored specifically for older adults. This assistive device will be developed with careful consideration of the unique needs and limitations commonly experienced by the elderly. The introduction of such a device is expected to promote greater independence and active engagement among elderly individuals in their daily lives. Ultimately, it is anticipated that this will enhance their overall quality of life and generate positive social impacts across the broader community in Kalimantan. Furthermore, this activity emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts among universities, local governments, healthcare institutions, and the community in supporting and effectively implementing this initiative. The project will begin with consultations involving neighborhood leaders (RT) and local residents. Upon reaching a consensus, the next stages will involve socialization, the design and development process, and the eventual delivery of a prototype that meets the identified needs.
