Abstract

Abstract

Tinea pedis is a dermatophytosis of the feet, especially between the toes and soles of the feet. The cause of this disease is Tricophyton rubrum with signs of fissures surrounded by fine and thin scales. Tinea pedis is the second highest occupational disease in Europe. In Indonesia, tinea pedis is one of the top ten skin diseases and 65% of this disease is related to work, especially rubber farmers. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the habit of washing feet after work and the incidence of tinea pedis infection in rubber farmers in Lipat Kain Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency. This study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique was total sampling that had met the inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using the chi square test. The results of 40 samples obtained as many as 23 respondents with the habit of not washing their feet after work, around 16 (69.6%) respondents were infected with tinea pedis and as many as 17 respondents with the habit of washing their feet after work had no incidence of tinea pedis infection. Based on the chi square test with P = 0.000, the p value <0.05 was obtained, indicating that there is a significant relationship between the habit of washing feet after work and the incidence of tinea pedis infection in rubber farmers. Clean and healthy living behavior by maintaining cleanliness of the feet through the habit of washing feet after work for rubber farmers can reduce the incidence of tinea pedis infection

Abstract

Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by ectoparasites and is a health problem worldwide. Many factors related to scabies cause the prevalence of scabies to continue to increase over time. Residential density is one factor causing the high prevalence of scabies. Different occupancy densities can be found in modern Islamic boarding schools that have dormitories with varying room sizes, one of which is the Modern Islamic Boarding School Diniyyah Pasia Ampek Angkek in Agam Regency, West Sumatra. This study was conducted to determine differences in scabies incidence based on the level of residential density in Islamic boarding schools. This study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique was total sampling that had met the inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results of 219 students showed that 141 (64.4%) students lived in poor residential density, of which approximately 104 (73.8%) students had scabies. Approximately 78 (35.6%) students live with good housing density, of which approximately 36 (46.2%) students have scabies. Based on the chi-square test with P = 0.000, the p value < 0.05 shows a significant difference between the level of housing density and the incidence of scabies. Housing density for residences that meet the requirements of a healthy home and clean living behavior in modern Islamic boarding schools can reduce the incidence of scabies.

Abstract

Lymphatic filariasis is a chronic infectious disease caused by filarial worms and transmitted to humans through the bites of various mosquito species in tropical and subtropical environments. In Indonesia, Simbang Kulon sub-district is categorized as a filariasis endemic area based on the results of finger blood surveys (SDJ), but research on entomological surveys is rare. This study aims to conduct an entomological survey (identifying and understanding the bionomics) of mosquitoes as filariasis vectors in Simbang Kulon Sub-district, Buaran District, Pekalongan Regency, Central Java Province. This study used a descriptive survey with a cross-sectional design. Mosquito capture was carried out using the Human Landing Collection and Resting Collection methods both inside and outside the house. Samples were taken to the laboratory. The results of the identification of 50 mosquitoes found 94% Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes and 6% Culex vishnui mosquitoes. The blood-sucking activity of Culex quinquefasciatus and Culex vishnui in the research area is eksophagic, while the resting behavior of Culex quinquefasciatus and Culex vishnui in the research area is more outdoor resting. Peak fluctuations in blood-sucking and resting activity in Culex quinquefasciatus inside and outside the house are generally at 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM. Based on the results of the research data analysis, Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes are a potential vector mosquito species of filariasis in Simbang Kulon Village, Pekalongan Regency

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus and transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. DHF always increases at the start of every rainy season and causes Extraordinary Events (KLB) in several regions in Indonesia, including Riau Province. Eradicating dengue fever should prioritize prevention efforts by carrying out 3M Plus Mosquito Nest Eradication on an ongoing basis rather than focused fogging actions which are more frequently implemented nowadays. The aim of this service activity is to provide education on the 3M Plus Mosquito Nests Eradication so that it is hoped that it can increase knowledge and attitudes about dengue prevention behavior in children assisted by the As-Salaam Orphanage Pekanbaru City. Knowledge and attitudes about dengue prevention behavior are one of the factors that influence dengue prevention behavior in everyday life. Delivery of health material using the Leaflet tool was carried out by the head of the lecturer service team, while filling out the knowledge questionnaire about dengue prevention before and after health education, as well as documentation was carried out by members of the lecturer service team and students. The service activities lasted for ± 60 minutes and were attended by 13 children assisted by the orphanage. Descriptively, there is an increase in the knowledge of target children about dengue prevention, but this cannot be proven statistically. Health assistance efforts are sufficient to achieve goals, as shown by changes in results on the pretest and posttest questionnaires, but improvements need to be made in subsequent service activities, by combining health education methods with other relevant service methods.
