Abstract

The human body regulates its temperature to normal levels when exposed to cold temperatures, which allows it to adjust to changes in its surroundings. The force of blood that the heart pumps against the artery walls is called blood pressure. Variations in fishermen's blood pressure may be affected by the cold working environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of blood pressure before and after exposure to air temperature in fishermen workers. With a single group pretest-posttest quantitative research methodology, this study used an experimental pre-research design. Univariate data analysis, bivariate using the Wilcoson test and multivariate using MANOVA testing. The study population was 57 fishermen of Tanjung Tiram District. By using the basic random selection approach, the research sample amounted to 50 respondents. Data collection using primary data obtained directly from fishermen workers on the Tanjung Tiram coast using digital tension meters and observation sheets. The analytical tool used is SPSS. The results showed that there was a comparison of blood pressure before and after exposure to air temperature, meaning that exposure to air temperature can increase blood pressure both systole and diastole, so maintaining health is needed for workers who work as fishermen.

Abstract

Work productivity at work is very important for a company to produce a product to achieve targets and as a form of consideration to achieve success in a company. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of workload on the labor productivity of oil palm harvesters. The research method used quantitative research with Cross Sectional design and data analysis on univariate tests using frequency distribution tables and Paired tests on pulse samples with sig. < 0.05 values. A sample of 48 respondents who were oil palm harvesters at PT. Merbaujaya Indahraya, Aek Kuo District, using total sampling. The measurements in this questionnaire use the Likert scale, and check the pulse on the arteries in the respondent's wrist, and see the results of the achievements obtained by the respondent. The results showed that the workload had a positive and significant effect on the work productivity of oil palm harvesters at PT Merbaujaya Indahraya, Aek Kuo District, with a significance value (sig) of 0.000 < 0.05. This study came to the conclusion that the work productivity of oil palm harvesters at PT Merbaujaya Indahraya is in the good category, but there must be improvements to increase the work productivity of oil palm harvesters to remain stable and increase for the success of a company.

Abstract

In 2023, there will be an increase in the prevalence of stunting in the Puskesmas working area, decreasing from 31 stunted toddlers to 35 stunted toddlers compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the target for reducing the stunting rate in Medan City by 2024 is 14.92%. The research aims to analyze the influence of parenting styles on the incidence of stunting in the area, with a focus on parental practices/support for children in feeding practices personal hygiene practices, and environmental sanitation. This research uses a quantitative approach with an observational case-control design. The sample size was 70 respondents who were divided into two groups, namely 35 respondents in the case group and 35 respondents in the control group. The results of this study show that there is an influence between parental practices/support in providing food (p-value=0.000) and personal hygiene/hygiene practices and environmental sanitation on the incidence of stunting in the working area of the Terjun Community Health Center (p-value=0.006) with an Odds value The ratio (OR<1) indicates that these factors have a weak or protective influence on the incidence of stunting. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that parental practices/support in providing food and personal hygiene practices and environmental sanitation influence the incidence of stunting, but positively as protective factors against the incidence of stunting in the working area of the Terjun Community Health Center.

Abstract

The industrial sector is a significant contributor to employment in Indonesia, necessitating the availability of skilled and competent workers. Enhancing worker productivity is crucial for companies to remain competitive, as it allows for the production of goods within predetermined proportions in a shorter timeframe. Productivity among workers is influenced by various factors, notably their nutritional status and health. This study aims to explore the relationship between nutritional status and productivity among production workers at Pt. Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk Ppb in North Sumatra. The research employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design, involving a sample of 63 workers from a total of 410 in the production department. Data collection tools included scales and microtoise for height measurement, with data analysis conducted using the chi-square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The study found that out of the 63 workers, 27 (42.9%) were classified as productive, while 36 (57.1%) were deemed unproductive. The chi-square test results indicated a significant relationship between nutritional status and worker productivity (P value = 0.049). The study concludes that nutritional status significantly affects labor productivity, with normal nutritional status being a key factor in enhancing work performance.

Abstract

Risk factors for tuberculosis in children include lack of nutrition, HIV infection, poverty, cigarette smoke exposure, and close contact with infected individuals. Children's immune systems are less developed, making them more susceptible and causing severe complications. This study uses cross-sectional research to analyze secondary data from Indonesia's 2018 Basic Health Research study. The sample consisted of 110.465 children aged 0–14, selected randomly or based on criteria. The study used univariate analysis and chi-square bivariate analysis to determine the relationship between variables and the incidence of tuberculosis in children. Further analyses were conducted in May–June 2024 using JASP version 16.The study revealed a significant association between lighting conditions and TB incidence, with 119 cases in well-lit master bedrooms and 51 in poorly lit bedrooms. Kitchen windows also played a role. However, the study concluded that the association could be due to chance, with no strong association between adequate living room lighting and TB incidence. The study found no significant association between lighting or ventilation conditions in different house areas and tuberculosis (TB) incidence. Although slight variations were observed, these were likely due to chance. The prevalence ratios also showed no strong association between adequate lighting or ventilation and TB incidence. Public health initiatives should focus on improving housing infrastructure, ventilation, and hygiene to mitigate environmental risk factors. Further research is recommended to explore socioeconomic and geographical variations influencing TB incidence in children. Keyword: Children, Environment, Home, Tubeculosis
