Abstract

The benefit of this activity is to encourage children to learn English from an early age. This activity was held at the Sonaf Maneka Orphanage as a partner of this activity. This activity is carried out through two methods: providing theory and providing direct teaching practice carried out by the PKM team. By using media such as songs, videos, pictures, and games. The material provided includes the alphabet, colors, body parts, numbers, and animals. Apart from that, to avoid boredom for recipients of the material, several games, such as word games, are also provided. This activity is considered to have a positive impact and foster children's interest in learning English, as shown by the children's enthusiastic responses. In addition, the children began repeating the English words they learned, such as the names of colors and numbers, on the last day of service. This is consistent with the idea that children have the ability to imitate what they see and hear. Therefore, we can conclude that this activity successfully achieved its aim of fostering children's interest in learning English

Abstract

The United Kingdom storytelling training is an effort made to increase the interest and storytelling skills of Sint Carolus Kupang Catholic High School (SMA) students. This school has difficulty managing United Kingdom storytelling activities as one of its extracurricular activities due to the lack of competent Human Resources (HR) so that this activity is not in great demand by students. Storytelling is the activity of telling an event in an interactive way. The activity began by providing an explanation of storytelling and the ability to speak United Kingdom. After that, the speaker practiced United Kingdom storytelling directly in front of the participants and ended with the speaker inviting participants to participate in the storytelling practice by demonstrating storytelling in front of the class. It is hoped that this storytelling training can motivate students to improve their storytelling skills in United Kingdom and also motivate teaching staff in managing and presenting teaching materials for United Kingdom extracurriculars, especially storytelling

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to assess the proficiency of second-grade students in utilizing suitable verbs to complete a recount text and to identify the challenges encountered by these students in completing a recount text at the junior high school level. The researcher employed a qualitative approach to analyze the data. The study included a population of 20 students, and the researcher selected a random sample of 15 students. The researcher used a test as a tool to complete the recount text, selecting appropriate verbs from the provided list. The researcher employed various formulas to analyze the data. The findings indicate that the second-grade students lack proficiency in selecting suitable verbs to effectively complete the text. The analysis supports this conclusion, revealing a competency level of 56.52% among the students. We classify this skill as "poor," and the pupils achieved an average grade of 56.33%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research article is to address the following inquiries: (1) Can tenth-grade students proficiently acquire the present continuous tense through game-based instruction? (2) What is their proficiency level? (3) Do games effectively teach the present continuous tense to tenth grade students at SMAK Giovanni? To address those inquiries, the researcher used a descriptive method because it is used to describe the students’ mastery in the present continuous tense. The participants of the study consisted of tenth grade students from SMAK Giovanni Kupang. Fifteen students, who were all selected as subjects for the researcher's study, comprised the level. The researcher employed lesson plans and tests to get the data. The researcher devised three instructional approaches to teach the present continuous tense through the utilization of games. During the experiment, the researcher administered two tests: a pre-test and a post-test. Only three students demonstrated successful performance in the pre-test results. The class had a low level of proficiency. By incorporating game-based instruction, the students' performance and overall understanding of the subject matter showed noticeable improvement.
