Abstract

Language serves as a means of communication among humans. Through language, individuals express their preferences and dislikes, as well as offer praise or criticism to others. This highlights the significant role language plays in a person's life, as it can bring respect or subject them to insult. Accordingly, there is an intrinsic relationship between language—particularly spoken language—and religiosity. This research aims to explore spoken language specifically, as the researcher will focus extensively on how individuals use speech to convey their intentions. The central research question is: "Is there a relationship between spoken language and the quality of religiosity?" This study employs a library research method, utilizing books as primary sources, supplemented by scientific articles, online publications, and other materials as needed. The findings reveal a reciprocal relationship between language and religiosity: language serves as the cause, and religiosity as the effect. The better one’s language, the stronger their religiosity appears; however, language alone is not the sole indicator of religiosity. It is possible for someone to speak gently and use kind words, yet still be cursed by Allah for hypocrisy and envy.

Abstract

This study examines the role of wives in enhancing their husbands’ religiosity in modern Muslim families, particularly in Padangsidimpuan City. Viewing the family as a spiritual institution, the research explores how religious values are cultivated through daily interaction, exemplary conduct, and meaningful communication. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, it draws on a literature review and in-depth interviews with five Muslim married couples, analyzed thematically to reveal patterns of the wife’s spiritual influence. The findings show that a wife’s devotion in worship, moral behavior, and positive religious communication significantly strengthen her husband’s religiosity. Her exemplary conduct and empathetic communication create a religious atmosphere that nurtures spiritual awareness at home. Modern wives who balance domestic and professional roles also contribute to the family’s spiritual resilience. Thus, the wife’s role embodies dakwah bil hal, serving as a spiritual catalyst who inspires her husband’s piety and supports a harmonious, faith-centered family.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relevance of a mother's piety in the family to the development of a child's personality. This study is a qualitative study with a literature type. Data were collected using documentation techniques and then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that there are four points as evidence of the extent of the relationship between the development of a child's personality and the mother's piety. First, children are a gift from Allah SWT, which is natural and parents, especially mothers, are obliged to maintain this natural. Second, fathers and mothers have the same obligations to children but with different proportions, fathers are more emphasized on fulfilling material needs; food and clothing, while mothers are tasked with controlling the child's psychological and emotional development. Third, mothers are the main actors who shape children's personalities, therefore mothers play a role as teachers who determine the direction of children's personality development. Fourth, a person's development is influenced by their environment and mothers are the figures who interact most intensely with children, the good and or bad of children is largely determined by the mother who accompanies them.

Abstract

This study examines the authoritative sources utilized by the Tafsir study community within the Batak Angkola society in Padangsidimpuan City for interpreting the verses of the Qur’an. The objective is to identify and analyze the primary references employed by this community to understand and convey Qur’anic interpretations. A qualitative research method with an ethnographic approach was used. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and a literature review relevant to the study. The findings reveal that the Tafsir study community relies on a combination of classical and modern tafsir as their main sources for Qur’anic interpretation. Additionally, local culture influences distinctive interpretive patterns among the Batak Angkola society, although some community members face challenges in integrating local cultural elements into their interpretations. The study concludes that the authoritative sources used by the Tafsir community reflect a dynamic adaptation between Islamic teachings and local culture; however, not all members incorporate local culture into their interpretations. Ultimately, this interpretive study produces a unique and contextual approach to Qur’anic exegesis.
