Abstract

The realization of self-reliant villages is a crucial pillar in fostering prosperous and competitive communities amid rapid development. Accurate and comprehensive data management of village community organizations (Lembaga Kemasyarakatan Desa, LKD) is essential for informed decision-making, meticulous planning, and effective program implementation. This article discusses the role of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) in enhancing LKD data collection processes. FGDs serve as an effective method to gather in-depth information and diverse perspectives from stakeholders, facilitating the identification of needs and challenges, formulation of effective data collection strategies, and fostering commitment and collaboration among participants. The outcomes of these FGDs include more accurate and relevant data, enhanced human resource capacities, and improved village self-reliance. This approach underscores the importance of collective effort and strategic planning in achieving genuine village autonomy, leveraging the spirit of cooperation and collaboration to build resilient and thriving communities

Abstract

This study examined the long-term and short-term impacts of interest rate policy (BI Rate) and inflation on the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Using annual time-series data from 1997 to 2023, the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) was applied to capture both equilibrium relationships and dynamic adjustments among the variables. Stationarity tests confirmed that the variables were integrated of mixed orders, and the Johansen cointegration test revealed the existence of long-run relationships. The results showed that inflation had a more substantial and statistically significant effect on MSME performance in the short run, particularly through lagged effects. In contrast, the BI Rate had a limited and statistically insignificant influence, suggesting that inflation posed a more immediate constraint on MSME growth. The significant error correction term confirmed that MSMEs adjusted gradually to deviations from long-term equilibrium. These findings highlighted the need for inflation-targeted policies and improved financial access mechanisms to support MSME resilience. The study concluded that macroeconomic stability, especially price control, played a more critical role than monetary tightening in shaping MSME outcomes. It also suggested that expanding alternative financing, such as peer-to-peer lending and digital credit solutions, could buffer MSMEs from macroeconomic volatility. This research contributed to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence from a developing country context and suggested future exploration of digital financial tools as adaptive strategies for MSMEs.

Abstract

Indonesian migrant workers contribute significantly to household and national economies through remittances; however, many face challenges in achieving sustainable economic independence after migration. This community service activity aims to promote the economic transformation of Indonesian migrant workers into sustainable independent entrepreneurs through a participatory and dialogical approach. The program was conducted in Kuching, Malaysia, involving Indonesian migrant workers through direct visits and interactive discussions facilitated by the community service team in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy. The implementation method included knowledge-sharing sessions, reflective dialogue, and experiential discussions focused on entrepreneurship awareness and post-migration economic planning. The results indicate an increased understanding among participants regarding sustainable entrepreneurship, a shift in mindset from short-term income dependency toward long-term economic planning, and enhanced motivation to utilize work experience and skills as entrepreneurial capital. This activity contributes to strengthening the economic readiness of Indonesian migrant workers and offers a replicable community-based empowerment model for similar initiatives in other migrant destination areas.
