Abstract

This article analyzes the phenomenon of Arabizi ( عربي - إنجليزي ), using Arabic in Latin letters and numbers that mixed with dialects and foreign languages . This phenomenon is widespread in social media and can be used as one way to learn Arabic language independently with internet or social media. This paper is not intended to support the phenomenon, but rather as an alternative study to use of learning media more creatively. The results of this study indicate that Arabizi is an Arabic style that needs to be studied related to the contents and variety of language and Arab culture. DOI: 10.15408/a.v1i2.1146

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of readability of the Arabic teaching text book for sixth grade published by Pustaka Mulia and used in SD Islam Ruhama. The cloze test method was used to determine the level of readability of the text. The sample consisted of 80 students from the sixth grade of SD Islam Ruhama. The results of this study showed that the level of readability of the textbook varies. The readability level of the textbook is 34%, which means that the readability is at the level of frustration and the students' reading ability is 43%, which means the level of readability is at the instructional or educational level. The researchers concluded that the textbook did not meet the readability standards and that the readability of the textbook was varied. However, to further support students' reading skills, books or other additional references are still needed.

Abstract

This research is motivated by Sayyid Qutub’s assumption in his book (Fii Zilaal Al-Qur’an) that meaningful cohesion study has been carried out in the Al-Qur’an, but has not been studied literally and lexically. There was the impression that the lexical cohesion was the important thing to understand the meaning of Al-Qur’an. Lexical cohesion is a cohesion that associated with meaning and formed by the semantic relationship between another lexicon. In addition to the researcher chose the Surah Al-Qiyamah as the object of research to analyze the lexical cohesion devices that contained in Surah Al-Qiyamah by using Halliday and Ruqaiya’s theory of lexical cohesion. Halliday and Ruqaiya see lexical cohesion as being formed of two aspects: reiteration (repitition, synonym, antonym, hyponym) and collocation. Therefore, this research is trying to answer how many devices of lexical cohesion are contained in Surah Al-Qiyamah.

Abstract

This study examined a gap in the company's manual book for Indonesian bus drivers assigned to work in Saudi Arabia. The manual book used formal Arabic vocabulary about bus parts, occupational safety, and traffic signs, while foreign workers from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh frequently communicated in simplified Arabic. This discrepancy highlights the need to align training courses with the practical demands of daily interaction. The study employed a qualitative descriptive content analysis approach. The findings confirm Canagarajah's work on the importance of sociolinguistic competence in transnational work environments, Duggan's focus on the necessity of sociolinguistic awareness for migrants, and Kött and Vogl's research on the role native speakers play in acquiring hybrid Arabic. It supports Ubalde et al.'s findings on the impact of interethnic contact on language learning and aligns with Al-Rojaie's analysis of dialectal variations in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, it agrees with Al-Mutayri and As-Susuwah's studies on pidgin Arabic. The study concludes the importance of equipping bus drivers with language variation in real-world communication and recommends incorporating sociolinguistic content into training courses to address multicultural work environment challenges.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the results of using the Think-Pair-Share strategy in teaching writing skills and to examine its effectiveness.The researcher used the quantitative method with a type of quasi-experimental design using the nonequivalent control group design. The sample was taken from classes 10-8 and 10-10, each consisting of 33 students. Class 10-10 was the experimental group using the Think-Pair-Share strategy, while class 10-8 served as the control group. The strategy was applied in writing instruction by presenting material through a projector and a workbook. Students understood the texts and vocabulary, then the teacher demonstrated how to arrange words into sentences and paragraphs before giving exercises. After that, the teacher provided questions based on the taught examples. Then, students answered individually (Think), discussed with a partner (Pair), and presented their answers in front of the class (Share).The results of this study proved that the Think-Pair-Share strategy was effective in teaching writing skills. This was evident from the increase in the post-test average score of the experimental group (77.66), which was higher than the control group's average score (58.81). Moreover, the Independent Sample T-Test results showed that the sig (2-tailed) value was 0.01, which was smaller than 0.05, meaning that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The N-Gain test result for the experimental group was 0.55, which, according to the N-Gain effectiveness standard, indicates a moderate level of effectiveness. Keywords: Effectiveness, Teaching Writing Skills, Think-Pair-Share. مستخلص البحثهدف هذا البحث إلى الكشف عن نتائج استخدام إستراتيجية فكر-زاوج-شارك في تعليم مهارة الكتابة، وكشف فعالية استخدامها. استخدمت الباحثة في هذا البحث المنهج الكمي مع نوع البحث ذو التصميم شبه التجريبي باستخدام تصميم مجموعة التحكم غير المكافئة (Nonequivalent Control Group Design). أخذت العينة من الصف العاشر - 8 والصف العاشر - 10. حيث تكوّن كل منهما من 33 طالبًا، عمل الصف العاشر - 10 كفئة تجريبية باستخدام إستراتيجية فكر-زوج-شارك، والصف العاشر –8 كصف تحكم. طبقت الباحثة الإستراتيجية فكر-زاوج-شارك في تعليم الكتابة من خلال تقديم المادة عبر جهاز العرض والكتاب الإرشادي. فهم التلاميذ النصوص والمفردات، ثم عرض المعلم طريقة ترتيب الكلمات في جمل وفقرات قبل أن أعطى التمارين. بعد ذلك، قدم المعلم أسئلة تستند إلى الأمثلة التي درّست من قبل. ثم أجاب التلاميذ على الأسئلة بشكل فردي (فكر)، ثم ناقشوها مع شريك (ناقش)، وأخيرًا قدموا الإجابات أمام الصف (شارك) .أثبتت نتائج هذا البحث أن إستراتيحية فكر-زاوج-شارك في تعليم مهارة الكتابة كانت فعالة. ظهر ذلك من خلال زيادة متوسط درجة الاختبار البعدي للمجموعة التجريبية 77،6٦ والتي فاقت متوسط درجة الإختبار البعدي للمجموعة الضابطة 58،81. علاوة على ذلك أظهرت نتائج اختبار-ت مستقل (Independent Sample T-Test) أن قيمة sig (۲ ذيل) 0،01 مما دلّ على أنها كانت أصغر من0،05 بحيث الفرضية الصفرية (Ho) مرفوضة، والفرضية البديلة (Ha) مقبولة. كانت نتيجة اختبار  "N-Gain "المجموعة التجريبية هي ٠،55 وفقا إلى معيار فعالية  "N-Gain" هذه نتيجة على نسبة متوسطة. الكلمات المفتاحية: فعالية، تعليم مهارة الكتابة، فكر-زاوج-شارك.

Abstract

This study investigates the application of the discovery learning method to enhance students’ reading skills at State Islamic Senior High School 1, Western Aceh. The research was prompted by classroom observations indicating that Arabic language teachers often rely on conventional approaches, which do not adequately engage students—particularly in the context of reading instruction. As a result, students are limited to passive reception of information through teacher explanations, leading to disinterest, reduced motivation, and poor participation. These challenges highlight the need for a more interactive and student-centered learning strategy. Through a quasi-experimental design involving pre-test and post-test measures, this study demonstrates that the discovery learning method has a significant positive impact on students’ reading proficiency. Statistical analysis using a paired-sample t-test yielded a calculated t-value of 26.73, which far exceeds the critical values at both the 5% (2.09) and 1% (2.86) significance levels. Accordingly, the null hypothesis is rejected in favor of the alternative, confirming the effectiveness of discovery learning in improving reading outcomes.
