Abstract

Urban society shown a more heterogenous personal quality compared to rural society such as greater diversity in social status and religious pluralism. Unfortunately, structure of urban society tends to put achievement above morality in academic practices. This can be seen in academic phenomenon such as cheating, and plagiarism. Such practices are only made easier through technology. Since the emergence of Covid-19 pandemic the use of technology is increasing substantially in learning process. In urban region such as Jakarta metropolitan area, Indonesia, the use of internet and technology in university become one of many factors that facilitate academic dishonesty behaviors. This research is quantitative research with samples of 187 university students currently taking courses on associate degree, bachelor, and master’s degree from public and private universities inside and outside of Jakarta metropolitan area (JABODETABEK). The result showed differences in proportion of internal factor variance that includes religious commitment, self-efficacy, and self-monitoring. Participants in Jakarta metropolitan area are controlled more by internal factors to abstain from academic dishonesty, compared to students outside of Jakarta metropolitan area. These findings can give consideration for universities stakeholders to enact an academic climate that supports integrity with character development, especially in urban universities.

Abstract

Homeschooling in early childhood is not just learning like in formal school, but also doing many different activities to stimulate children's development. When homeschooling starts, parents are required to be involved and maintain a relationship with their children. One approach that can be used in carrying out learning activities from home is Fitrah-Based Education (FBE). This study aims to look at the role of FBE in the relationship between parents and children. This study uses a mixed method with a cross-sectional design. Data was collected using a reflection of Child-Parent Relationships Scale (CPRS) filled out by parents and observations via social media Instagram and Qur’an Based Play’s community WhatsApp groups. Quantitative data analysis uses correlation and linear regression techniques, qualitative data analysis uses observation recording techniques. The results show that the routine of various Fitrah-based education activities can predict parent-child relationships (p-value 0.05) by 9.3% on the conflict dimension and 8% on the closeness dimension. This research can be useful for parents at home and the community of Fitrah-based education activists in general. The limitation is a threat to external validity.

Good character is a congruence of thought, feelings and behaviors that are in accordance with principles of morality. Since 2016 Indonesian education system attempts to develop good character in students using principles for encouraging character education (PPK, Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter). The principles of PPK are based on Pancasila, Indonesia national ideology. These five principles are religiosity, nationalism, independence, cooperation, and integrity. Currently, there are no instrument for measuring good character in accordance with the principle of PPK. This study aims to develop a reliable and valid measuring tool for good character that can be used for measuring good character in Indonesian high school students. In the development of this measurement, this study tests the reliability with discriminatory item analysis using SPSS v.21. Construct validity was measured using confirmatory factor analysis with JASP emulation MPlus, from which group norm was formed with average of 10 and standard deviation of 3. The subjects of this study are 728 Indonesian high school students. The result of this study show that the instrument can be deemed reliable with Cronbach alpha of 0.892. This instrument also shows model fit p-value of 0.000, SRMRS of 0.078 and GFI of 0.957, which can be interpreted as a reliable in term of measurement.

Abstract

The development of coastal regions is a pivotal aspect of Indonesia's ‘poros maritim dunia’ national agenda. This study focuses on Untung Jawa Island, a designated 'tourism village' off the coast of Jakarta, to investigate how the aspirations and perspectives of its young population align with this developmental drive. This study focuses on the viewpoints of the active Karang Taruna group members on the island, as they represent the youth engaged in community development. Utilizing a qualitative exploratory phenomenology design, this study employs Focused Group Discussions (FGD) to gain insights into how the youth perceive their potential career based on their career adaptability.
