Abstract

One type of cereal that can be used as a functional food is hanjeli (Coix lacryma-jobi L.). Hanjeli production has many problems, i.e., low productivity and long life. Hanjeli cultivation from ratoons has several advantages, including reduced production costs, shorter lifespan, and less water requirement. Fertilization of NPK and application of GA3 as gibberellin hormone are expected to increase the growth and yield of hanjeli. This study aims to determine the interaction effect between NPK and GA3 on the growth and yield of hanjeli from ratoon. This experiment was carried out at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Sumedang Regency, West Java, from August to December 2020. The experimental design used a Randomized Block Design, while the treatment design consisted of 2 factors. The first factor was the dose of NPK fertilizer which consisted of 3 levels, namely 100, 200, and 300 kg. The second factor was the concentration of GA3, consisted of 3 levels, namely 0, 10 and 20 ppm. All treatments were repeated 3 times. The results showed that there was an interaction effect between NPK fertilizer application and GA3 concentration on growth and yield of hanjeli, namely plant height, number of tillers, number of branches, leaf area index, number of productive tillers, grain weight per plant, harvest index and grain size and hardness. At a high concentration of GA3, increasing NPK fertilizer dose could improve the growth, yield, and yield quality of the hanjeli.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims to understand the importance of information literacy in relation to libraries and the strategies implemented by school libraries in strengthening literacy. The method used in this study is a literature review, which involves examining various reference books and previous research studies that are relevant and useful for establishing a theoretical foundation for the issue under investigation. The findings indicate that information literacy is a crucial component and an absolute prerequisite that the millennial generation must possess to compete with other global communities. Libraries, including school libraries, are an integral part of information literacy activities. There are various efforts that school libraries can undertake to strengthen the information literacy of students, including forming reading groups, enriching the curriculum, collaborating with other libraries, and involving students in library management. Through these strategies, efforts can be made to enhance the information literacy of elementary school students. Keywords : information literacy, school libraries, literacy strengthening strategies, students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of disaster education and social media usage on disaster preparedness in coastal communities, focusing on Masawah Village in the Cimerak District, Pangandaran Regency. The research was conducted using a quantitative survey method with data collected from a sample of 100 respondents selected through probability sampling with a cluster sampling approach. Data were analysed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The findings reveal that both disaster education and social media usage significantly influence individual intentions and actual disaster preparedness. Additionally, the mediating role of intention is identified, highlighting its importance in linking disaster education and social media usage to preparedness. These results suggest that disaster education should incorporate practical training and community participation, while social media campaigns should leverage popular platforms like WhatsApp and TikTok to engage wider audiences effectively. This study contributes to the literature by integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to explore the mediating effects of intention in disaster preparedness. It offers practical implications for policymakers and disaster management organisations to enhance community readiness. The originality of this research lies in its focus on a coastal community and its use of TPB as a theoretical framework, addressing gaps in previous studies that have not thoroughly investigated the role of social media in disaster preparedness.

Abstract

This research looks at how the “Waste Management Go to School” program impacts students’ environmental information education. The study took place in schools involved with the environmental education effort run by the Bening Saguling Foundation in West Bandung Regency, Indonesia. Through simple random sampling, 370 students were selected using a quantitative approach. Questionnaires were used to collect information which was then analyzed with the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The researchers looked at three main parts of communication: the person speaking, the message and the channel for delivering the message. The results indicate that knowledge, awareness and attitudes, as well as skills, were all significant factors in student environmental information literacy. Having credible sources was found to be fairly important in helping students become more literate about the environment, according to the communicator variable. Media reports suggested that the right media can increase how interested and knowledgable students are about environmental matters. Also, the message part was found to matter most, pointing out that educational content should be both clear and involve the students. The results indicate that giving priority to strategic communication in schools should help enhance students’ environmental literacy. Research conducted here aids institutions in adopting better ways to teach environmental issues and serves as a reference for introducing sustainability into the curriculum at schools.
