Abstract

The balance between growth and crop yield can be manipulated by exploiting nutrient and retardant interactions. This study is aiming to assess the effects of various combinations of NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer in different doses, along with the application of multiple concentrations of paclobutrazol on the growth and yield of hanjeli. This experiment was carried out in the experimental field of Ciparanje, Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Sumedang from February 2021 to August 2021. This research was conducted in a split-plot design with three replications. The main plot consisted of 200 kg ha-1, 250 kg ha-1, and 300 kg ha-1. The subplot consisted of 2000 ppm, 3000 ppm, and 4000 ppm. The results show that there were interaction effects between different doses of NPK fertilizer and paclobutrazol concentrations on plant height and 100-grain weight. The best combination came from the application of 200 kg/ha NPK fertilizer with 3000 ppm of paclobutrazol, which gave higher results in plant height and 200 kg/ha NPK fertilizer with 2000 ppm of paclobutrazol on 100-grain weight.

Abstract

Jasmine (Jasminum sambac) is one of the ornamental plants that are widely cultivated in Indonesia and is known to have economic value and benefits in various sectors, such as the perfume, pharmaceutical, and health industries. The purpose of this study was to determine the right efficiency in the concentration of fructose addition to the callus of two varieties of Jasmine on the content of secondary metabolites. The method used was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), repeated 4 times and each replication contained 5 samples. The treatments were as follows: Factor 1 Variety: V1: Var. Jasminum officinale, V2: Var. Jasminum Grand Duke of Tuscany while in Factor 2 using the addition of Fructose concentration K1: 10 g, K2: 20g, K3: 30g. The results of the quantity and quality of callus showed the best growth in the treatment of jasmine variety Jasminum officinale with the addition of a fructose concentration of 20 g, while the highest secondary metabolite content was in the treatment of jasmine variety Jasminum officinale with the addition of a fructose concentration of 30 g.

Abstract

Abstract

Belsasikuntas is a functional beverage made from a mixture of Wuluh star fruit, bay leaves, betel leaves, turmeric, and beluntas leaves. This study aims to analyze its polyphenol and vitamin C content using the Folin-Ciocalteu method for polyphenols and the iodometry method for vitamin C. Additionally, an organoleptic evaluation was conducted to assess color, aroma, and taste. Polyphenol and vitamin C content were tested both with and without dilution. For the diluted samples, a Completely Randomized Design method was applied with four concentration levels and five repetitions. The results for the undiluted samples showed that the highest polyphenol content (81.43 mg/100 mL) was observed at 5 mL, while the lowest (80.88 mg/100 mL) was recorded at 15 mL. The highest vitamin C content (48.01 mg/100 mL) was found at 15 mL, whereas the lowest (47.89 mg/100 mL) was at 5 mL. In diluted samples, the highest polyphenol content (81.36 mg/100 mL) was observed at 20 mL, while the lowest (27.54 mg/100 mL) was at 5 mL. The highest vitamin C content (47.93 mg/100 mL) was recorded at 20 mL, whereas the lowest (11.10 mg/100 mL) was found at 5 mL. The results indicate that polyphenol and vitamin C content decrease as more water is added. The organoleptic evaluation yielded a total public acceptance score of 100%, with 62% for color, 11% for taste, and 27% for fragrance. These findings suggest that Belsasikuntas has potential as a functional health drink with favorable consumer acceptability. Keywords: Belsasikuntas, Health Drink, Polyphenol, Vitamin C
