Abstract

Ducks are one of the poultry that can be relied on as a source of animal protein, namely meat and eggs, which are greatly needed by the community. Peking ducks are a very potential meat-producing poultry besides chickens. One of the advantages of this poultry is that it has resistance to disease when compared to broiler chickens. More than 19% of egg needs are met from duck eggs, but its role as a meat producer is still low at 0.94%. The low role of ducks as meat producers is caused by inadequate and quite expensive feed. Animal-derived feed ingredients are generally industrial waste, so their nature utilizes waste such as sago pulp. This study aims to investigate the effect of providing fermented sago pulp in rations on the quality of carcasses and abdominal fat of Peking ducks. This study used an experimental method designed with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments are P1. 100% Bran (Control), P2. 75% Bran + 25% Fermented Sago Pulp, P3. Bran 50% + Fermented Sago Pulp 50%, P4. Bran 25% + Fermented Sago Pulp 75%. Observation parameters in the form of feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion. The results of the study of providing fermented sago pulp in bran in Peking ducks did not have a significant effect with (P>0.05) on feed consumption, had a very significant effect with (P<0.05) on daily weight gain, did not have a significant effect with (P>0.05) on feed conversion. Treatment P1 (Control) gave the best value for feed consumption, Treatment P4 (Bran 25% + Fas 75%) gave the best value for daily weight gain and treatment P2 (Bran 75% + Fas 25%) gave the best value for feed conversion.

Abstract

Bisnis rumahan atau sering disebut home industry termasuk dalam kategori UMKM (Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah), yang merupakan singkatan dari bisnis kecil biasnaya tidak mendominasi pasar dan dimiliki atau dikelola secara bebas. Pengembangan home industry dapat dimulai dengan melakukan sosialisasi tentang divesifikasi olahan cangkang lokan bagi masyarakat khususnya kelompok tani binaan yaitu Mitra Kana. Kegiatan sosialisasi dilaksanakan dirumah Ketua kelompok tani Mitra Kana, Desa Mesjid Tuha, Kecamatan Meurebo Aceh Barat pada hari Rabu, tanggal 09 Juli 2025 mulai dari jam 08.00 WIB hingga selesai. Anggota kelompok yang hadir berjumlah sebanyak 32 orang, 2 orang narasumber dan 2 orang asisten pelaksana. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode penyuluhan atau ceramah langsung dan deskripsi contoh yang terdiri atas tahapan persiapan, penyuluhan dan penutupan. Materi sosialisasi ini adalah diversifikasi tentang produk olahan tepung cangkang lokan yang terdiri atas biofertilizer, bahan koagulan water purifier dan bahan pembuatan pakan ternak (pelet) dengan indikator keberhasilan kegiatan ini adalah terdapat peningkatan pemahaman anggota kelompok tani yang semula hanya 5 orang yang faham (15,62%) menjadi 27 orang (85%) faham.

Abstract

The reduction in the quantity and quality of food can occur during storage in warehouses due to the infestation of rice weevils (Sitophilus oryzae). Environmentally friendly control methods for rice weevil pests are needed, such as using botanical insecticides made from fragrant pandan leaf powder. This research aimed to determine the effects of fragrant pandan leaf powder insecticide on rice weevil pests. The research design used was a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) utilizing four dosage levels: 15, 30, 45, and 60 g. The results showed that the dosages had a significant effect on rice weevil mortality, with the highest mortality rate found at the 60 g dosage, reaching 43.50%. The implications of the findings indicated that while higher doses of fragrant pandan leaf powder (60 g) significantly increase rice weevil mortality and also lead to rice weight loss, a balanced dose of bio-insecticide is needed to avoid excessive damage to the rice. Additionally, the organoleptic test results indicate that lower doses (15 g and 30 g) are more preferred by consumers for color, taste, and aroma, which implies that careful dosage control is crucial for both pest control effectiveness and maintaining consumer acceptance.
