Abstract

The civil war in Yemen has resulted in a humanitarian crisis full of complexity. Exacerbated by the intervention of Saudi Arabia and its coalition, Yemen is already in the throes of a humanitarian crisis and faces terrorist violence, water shortages, and rampant corruption. Saudi Arabia's intervention increases the intensity of the conflict and worsens the humanitarian crisis occurring in Yemen, which is characterized by an increase in all aspects of the humanitarian crisis, including widespread violence, population displacement, the impact of the conflict on the economy, the need for humanitarian assistance, obstacles to humanitarian assistance, and security threats for humanitarian aid workers. This study is a combination of descriptive and qualitative research. The purpose of this research is to interpret the current situation, attitudes or views that occur in society, the conflict between two or more situations, the influence of a condition, or other things. The Yemeni conflict creates insecurity due to attacks by weapons of war, limited access, and climate change. However, these various causes actually emerged because of the continuation of the war. Therefore, stopping the war is the main thing that needs to be done to prevent continued threats.

Abstract

This research analyzes the managerial strategies of banks in Makassar in facing economic uncertainty with qualitative approach and case study design on five representative banks. The research was conducted in five stages: preparation, data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation study, data analysis using thematic techniques and local economic contextual analysis, and validation of findings through triangulation of sources and methods. The results show that banks in Makassar adopt adaptive strategies, focusing on strengthening internal management (organizational restructuring, human resource development, and technology-based control systems) and external collaboration (partnerships with fintech, research institutions, and educational institutions). Strategic differences between nationalbanks that are more flexible to local markets and multinational banks that excel in integrated systems and structured risk management were also found. The findings result in a contextualized managerial strategy model and practical recommendations for risk management and service innovation in the banking sector.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of saving behavior among millennial workers in the formal sector, despite their broad access to digital financial services. The purpose of this research was to analyze the determinants of saving behavior among millennial employees in South Sulawesi by emphasizing the roles of financial literacy, financial product knowledge, and technology-enabled financial services innovation as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, and the sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving 316 respondents working in the formal sector across Makassar City, Gowa Regency, and Maros Regency. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire measuring four key constructs: financial literacy, financial product knowledge, technology-enabled financial services innovation, and saving behavior. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS software. The results indicated that both financial literacy and financial product knowledge had positive and significant effects on saving behavior, either directly or indirectly through technology-enabled financial services innovation. Financial product knowledge exerted the strongest influence on saving behavior. The study contributed theoretically by integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to explain financial behavior among millennials in a developing country context. Practically, the findings provided insights for financial institutions and policymakers to design integrated financial literacy programs and digital financial innovations that effectively promote sustainable saving behavior in the digital economy era.
