Abstract

Solar Power Plant is a power generation system that uses solar energy to generate electricity. PLTS components consist of solar panels, solar charger controller, battery and inverter. Solar panels are used to convert solar energy into DC electrical energy. The solar charger controller functions to regulate the voltage value distributed to the battery. The battery is used to store electrical power and the inverter is used to convert DC current to AC. In its use, the components installed on the PLTS need to know the efficiency percentage so that the amount of electrical energy utilization that can be generated can be known. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of electrical energy generation produced by solar panels with a capacity of 250 WP and a 2000 W inverter. Tests were carried out 5 times within a 5-hour time span (10:00 WIB – 14:00 WIB) using a 350 W Water Pump load. The test results showed that the solar panels were able to produce an average power of 76.39 W, with the largest power reaching 86.55 W. The calculated solar panel efficiency was 15.13%. The battery efficiency, based on the highest power measured, reached 0.80%. The inverter's power output varied, averaging 919.6 watts, with the highest output reaching 935 watts.

Abstract

The performance of microstrip antennas can be significantly improved through fractal geometry, particularly in achieving size reduction and multiband behavior. This study investigates the radiation efficiency of a microstrip dipole antenna employing the Cohen-Minkowski fractal geometry. The antenna is designed using FR4 substrate material with a dielectric constant of 4.4 and is simulated in multiple fractal iterations. Simulations are conducted using CST Studio Suite to observe return loss (S11), gain, and radiation efficiency across different frequencies. The results show that the incorporation of Cohen-Minkowski geometry increases surface current path length, enabling better impedance matching and improved radiation efficiency, especially at higher iterations.

Abstract

Insulation resistance testing is an important part of electrical installation system maintenance to ensure system safety and reliability. This study aims to analyze the condition of low-voltage cable insulation in the PT. PLN (Persero) UPP Sumbagut 1 building through insulation resistance testing using a megger. Measurements were conducted at several distribution panel points by comparing the results with the 2011 PUIL standard. The test results showed a decrease in insulation quality at several points, especially in the generator panel area, which has the potential to cause disruption to the power distribution system. The decrease in insulation resistance can be influenced by various factors such as cable age, environmental humidity, and installation conditions. This study provides recommendations for preventive measures in the form of cable replacement at critical points and the implementation of periodic testing to maintain the performance of the electrical system. In addition, evaluation of installation design and environmental control is also needed to increase cable service life and overall system efficiency.

Abstract

The stability of a three-phase power supply is crucial for ensuring the reliable operation of photography studio equipment, which is generally sensitive to electrical disturbances. One common disturbance is phase failure, which can cause equipment damage, reduced work quality, and safety risks. This study aims to analyze and implement a microcontroller-based phase failure detector system capable of detecting abnormal conditions in a photography studio's electrical system quickly and accurately. The system is designed using an ATmega328P microcontroller integrated with voltage sensors on each phase. When one of the phases fails, the system will provide a warning via a buzzer and LED indicator, and can optionally disconnect the load to prevent further damage. Test results show that this detector is capable of detecting the loss of a phase in less than 1 second with an accuracy level of XX% (adjusted based on the results). Thus, this system can improve protection for studio equipment and support more reliable operations.

Abstract

The reliability of the electric power transmission system is a crucial factor in ensuring the continuity of electrical energy distribution to customers. Disturbances in the transmission system can cause significant technical and economic losses. Therefore, the application of Adaptive Defense Schemes (ADS) was developed as an effort to improve the performance of the protection system and the reliability of the electric power transmission system. This study aims to analyze the performance of ADS on the Barikin-Tanjung bay line electric power transmission system and evaluate its technical and economic effectiveness. The disturbance data used include the number of disturbances, the duration of disturbances, and Energy Not Supplied (ENS) during the period 2015–2022, which is divided into the pre-implementation period of ADS (2015–2018) and post-implementation period of ADS (2019–2022). The Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) method is used to analyze the characteristics of time series data and forecast disturbances in the period 2023–2026. The results of the analysis show that the implementation of ADS is able to reduce the number of disturbances, the duration of disturbances, and the ENS value significantly in the post-implementation period. The selected ARIMA models, namely ARIMA (2,1,1) for the number of disturbances, ARIMA (3,1,1) for the duration of disturbances, and ARIMA (2,1,1) for ENS, produced stable predictions with residuals without significant autocorrelation. In addition, the results of the economic analysis showed that the implementation of ADS was able to reduce the company's potential losses by more than 50% compared to the scenario without ADS. Thus, ADS has proven effective in improving the reliability of the electric power transmission system and is worthy of being recommended for implementation in other transmission lines with high levels of vulnerability.

Abstract

Rubber Tyred Gantry is one of the heavy equipment used at container ports to carry out container loading and unloading activities. One of the main components of the RTG is the spreader, which functions to lift and lower the container through a twistlock system at all four corners. However, in practice, technical problems often arise such as the failure of the twistlock lock, which has the potential to pose a risk of work accidents and equipment damage. This study discusses the interlock system on the RTG spreader as a safety and control system in the container lifting process. The analysis was carried out through experiments by observing the electro-mechanical working system on the spreader seen directly in the field and simulating the logic of the interlock using Zelio Soft 2. If the twislock does not fit perfectly into the twislock hole, then the landed light does not turn on and the interlock process cannot be carried out. The landed light is on, so the container lock process can be done by the operator by pressing the lock button on the master control in the operator's cabin. And the lock process is complete, then the container is ready to be lifted. The interlock system is effective in preventing twistlock locking if the spreader has not been landed and hoist lifting if the lock process is not complete. The implementation of this interlock increases safety and effectiveness in the loading and unloading process at the Port and also requires regular maintenance of the landed sensor (proximity) as well as the adjustment of the distance of the landed sensor to the twis tlock pin needs to be carefully adjusted to prevent detection failure. By implementing this system, the level of work safety and operational efficiency of RTG can be significantly improved.

Abstract

Electricity is a vital component in supporting activities across various sectors, particularly in industry. The reliability of the power distribution system is crucial to maintaining the continuity of energy supply. However, during the distribution process, power losses (technical losses) frequently occur, primarily due to load imbalance in distribution transformers. This study aims to analyze transformer loading on the JN 05 feeder at ULP Janarata by calculating the load percentage, phase current imbalance, and power losses caused by neutral current. A quantitative approach was used, based on field measurements of 16 transformers under Peak Load Conditions (WBP) and Off-Peak Load Conditions (LWBP). Prior to load balancing, total power losses due to neutral current reached 10,190.37 kWh during LWBP and 3,733.41 kWh during WBP each month. After load balancing was performed between phases, technical losses were reduced by 13,923.77 kWh per month. These results indicate that load balancing is an effective method to reduce power losses and improve the efficiency of the distribution system.

Abstract

The reliability of the electric power system is greatly influenced by the system's ability to maintain the loading of the main equipment within safe limits during a disturbance. In the Sumbagselteng system, conductor disturbances have the potential to cause excessive loads on the Inter Bus Transformer (IBT) due to the concentration of generation in the South Sumatra region. Therefore, the implementation of the Over Generation Shedding (OGS) scheme is required as part of the defense scheme to protect the IBT from overloading conditions. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the OGS scheme in limiting the fault current and improving the dynamic stability of the system. The method used is a dynamic simulation using DigSILENT software with a short circuit fault scenario and a two-stage generator shedding based on definite time characteristics. The parameters analyzed include the IBT current, loading percentage, rotor angle, logarithmic decrement, and damping ratio. The simulation results show that the IBT current increases to around 1800 A with a loading reaching 110–133% during the disturbance. After the 340 MW generator shedding in two stages, the current drops to around 490 A and the loading returns below 65%. The damping ratio ranged from 0.017 to 0.069, indicating the system remained stable with improved damping. The OGS scheme proved effective in reducing IBT loading and improving system stability under disturbance conditions.

Abstract

The protection system is a crucial component in maintaining the reliability of the electric power distribution system, particularly the 20 kV medium-voltage network, which is vulnerable to various types of disturbances. This study aims to analyze the reliability of the protection system in the 20 kV electric power distribution network at PT Karya Wisesa through evaluation of Over Current Relay (OCR) and Ground Fault Relay (GFR) settings, short-circuit current analysis, and protection coordination. The research method involved system data collection, load calculations, fault current analysis, and relay coordination evaluation based on protection operation time and selectivity. The results showed that the protection system had a sensitivity of 21.44, a main relay operation time of 0.28 seconds, and a Reliability Index of 95%. After optimizing the relay settings, the grading time increased from 0.17 seconds to 0.35 seconds, thus meeting the IEC 60255 standard. These results indicate that PT Karya Wisesa's 20 kV distribution protection system has a good level of reliability in selectively detecting and isolating disturbances.
