Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of the results of writing anecdotal text using the image-streaming method and describe the influence of the image-streaming learning method in improving the ability to write anecdotal text. This study used quantitative methods. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with a nonequivalent control group design model. The variables in This study are divided into two, namely the independent variable is the image-streaming learning method and the dependent variable is writing anecdotal text. The sample of this study amounted to 60 students divided into two groups, namely 30 students as an experimental class and 30 as a control class. Data collection is carried out by observation techniques and tests. The data of this study were analyzed with statistics assisted by the SPSS program. The results of this study show that students' ability to write anecdotal texts has increased. The use of the image streaming learning method provides stimulus to students in determining the framework for composing anecdotal texts so that students can write anecdotal texts well. In addition, the use of this image-streaming learning method has proven effective in improving students' ability to write anecdotal texts. Students are more motivated and active in learning.

This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study are information from various sources about the history, manufacturing process, and symbolic meaning of mendoan and its relevance in learning. Data sources are informants, events, and documents. Data collection methods are interviews, observation, and document analysis. Data analysis techniques use the Miles and Huberman analysis technique with symbolic meaning using Roland Barthes' theory. The results of the study show that the history of mendoan is related to the accidental origins of making mendoan, the process of making mendoan goes through several stages, and the symbolic meaning of mendoan is related to the meaning of the word mendo in the Banyumasan language which means middle which shows the characteristic of Banyumas society. Abstract

This study explores the challenges faced by English as a foreign language (EFL) learners and teachers in Eastern Indonesia when implementing flipped learning, with a focus on technological access and digital literacy. Despite the potential benefits of flipped learning, such as increased learner autonomy and deeper cognitive engagement, these factors significantly hinder its effectiveness in under-resourced regions. The study employs a qualitative research design, utilizing interviews and questionnaires with 199 EFL learners and 10 certified EFL teachers from both West and East Nusa Tenggara. The findings reveal that limited internet access, lack of personal digital devices, and low digital literacy are the primary obstacles to successful engagement with flipped learning. These challenges prevent learners and teachers from adequately preparing for class, leading to reduced participation in interactive activities and ultimately hindering language acquisition for learners. In response, the study proposes strategies such as improving internet and device access, offering digital literacy training, and adopting a blended learning approach that combines both online and face-to-face learning. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing context-specific insights into the barriers faced by EFL learners in Indonesia and offering practical recommendations for overcoming these challenges to improve the efficacy of flipped learning in similar educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the analysis model of the characteristics of reading literacy items with the polytomous item response theory, which uses the Graded Response Model (GRM), Partial Credit Model (PCM), Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM), and Nominal Reasons Model (NRM). This research is quantitative research in nature, and secondary data were used from about 1000 test takers' responses to reading literacy items in the 2018 reading literacy study analyzed with the R program. This model comparison was carried out so that the analysis results obtained were more accurate in representing the level of reading literacy skills in Indonesia. The results show that the GPCM model is the fit model with an AIC value of 23753.89 and a BIC value of 24042.45, and the number of suitable testlets is 7 out of a total of 7 testlets. Based on the relationship between information function scores and SEM, reading literacy items provide higher information when participants' abilities range between -2.3 and +2.
