Abstract

Ruang Normal Coffee UMKM implements online buying and selling in marketing their products, but these UMKM do not yet have distribution packaging to protect the product during delivery. Based on the field survey, the distribution problems were the coffee cup packaging being dented, leaking, difficult to carry, and unattractive. The distribution packaging is currently considered not following consumer preferences because it is only in the form of clear plastic. This study aims to design packaging for distributing MSME coffee drinks in the Normal Room according to consumer preferences. The method used is Kansei Engineering (KE). KE implementation is supported by decision-making methods in determining packaging design concepts and packaging design elements. The term frequency-inverse document frequency (TFIDF) and principal component analysis (PCA) methods determine the design concept. In contrast, the Rough Set method determines the design elements. Sampling of respondents using purposive sampling with a minimum number of 30 respondents. The results of this study were that there were 21-word pairs based on TFIDF extraction and 40 packaging samples. The design concept was obtained through PCA analysis of the two main components that have a variance value of 1, namely PC-1 produces the concept of "challenging-modern" and PC-2 produces the concept of "old-fashioned-practical." The combination of design elements from rough set analysis for the “challenging-modern” concept is cardboard/corrugated material, blunt end handles, folding cartons, tray/box type without additional features, sans-serif fonts, and illustrations. Meanwhile, the "old fashioned-practical" concept consists of kraft materials, round handles, sleeve shapes, inner stands or trays/boxes, pop-up designs, classic concepts, monochrome, and illustrations. The final step is implementing the design elements into the 3D packaging mockup model. This research has an impact on the development of science and technology in the packaging design process by considering consumer feelings using quantitative methods that are more objective

Abstract

In developing packaging, MSME Numany Rempeyek must find out what kind of packaging consumers want. Based on the survey results, 96.8% of respondents stated that the packaging used was not appropriate, as if the packaging was a bit difficult to distribute because the product was easily destroyed, and the packaging was not good in terms of features. and design. This research aims to identify design elements for peanut brittle products based on the concepts obtained. Kansei Engineering is used in packaging development because it can describe consumer desires through their emotions so that it can be customized. The K-Means and Artificial Neural Network methods are used to support the application of Kansei Engineering. The process of determining the concept uses K-Means while the Artificial Neural Network method is used to identify design elements. The research results show two concept clusters, namely "Modern" and "Practical". Meanwhile, the results of the "Modern" concept design elements consist of multilayers (X1.2), center seal (X2.7), sealer (X3.1), modern (X4.1), window only or others (X5.2), illustration (X6.2), black only or combination (X7.2). On the other hand, the "Practical" concept obtains design elements in the form of plastic (X1.1), gusset (X2.4), zip-lock (X3.4), natural (X4.6), tear notch only or others (X5. 3 ), photo (X6.1), brown only or combination (X7.3). This research can produce new packaging designs that are obtained quantitatively to minimize uncertainty and subjectivity in the packaging design process. Kansei Engineering has proven effective in designing packaging based on consumer preferences.

Abstract

The current toast packaging has not met customer satisfaction due to the use of inappropriate packaging materials and unattractive packaging design. Therefore, it is necessary to plan and develop packaging with Kansei Engineering (KE) that is able to translate consumer emotions. It is important to apply the use of elements that are in accordance with the concept. The method of determining the elements used is Rough Set Theory (RST). The result of the concept with the K-Means Genetic Algorithm method is “practical” while the elements produced by the RST method get a horizontal block shape with paper & polymer materials, window features, telescope locks, minimalist design, surface direct and images consisting of vector illustrations. The use of RST in this study proved to be optimal in realizing practical concepts, with supporting elements in the form of horizontal beams that have a support size value of 3 and a Laplace value of 0.887.

Abstract

Oolong tea is one of the tea commodities that has a distinctive taste and high global market potential. However, in Indonesia, the appeal of Oolong tea is still low compared to black tea and green tea. This may be due to the lack of packaging that can represent the character of the product and the emotional preferences of consumers. This study aims to develop a packaging design concept for Oolong tea based on Kansei Engineering by translating aspects of functionality, usability, and pleasure. A total of 30 respondents were involved in this study to conduct interviews and surveys using video stimuli as well as digital and physical packaging. The results of this exploration were analyzed using the TF-IDF method, Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering, and K-means Algorithm. The TF-IDF analysis yielded 25 Kansei words. These were then grouped using the HAC method into four main concepts: Exclusive, Modern, Practical, and Reusable. Based on the K-means Algorithm, the Exclusive concept had the highest silhouette value. This indicates consumer preference for packaging with a luxurious and elegant feel. Based on these analysis results, it is evident that the Kansei Engineering approach, supported by statistical methods, can generate more emotional and relevant packaging concepts that can serve as references in the domestic market.

Abstract

Indonesia has a wealth of culinary archipelago, one of which is Sambal Pecel. Sambal Pecel is now not only sold in traditional markets, but also available in modern markets. Behind the popularity of Sambal Pecel, there are a number of problems that need to be considered regarding the design and functionality of the packaging used today. These problems include unattractive packaging design, lack of ease of storage, packaging that is difficult to open and cannot be closed again. Packaging redesign is needed to overcome these problems by considering the emotional aspects of consumers. This study aims to design the packaging of chili sauce pecel in accordance with consumer preferences using the Kansei Engineering (KE) method. The method is supported by Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering (HAC) and K-Means methods in determining design concepts and Genetic Algorithm (GA) to determine packaging design elements. Based on the results of HAC analysis with average linkage calculation, 3 concept clusters were obtained, namely “Simple”, “Modern” and “Reusable”. The results through K-Means analysis obtained the selected design concept, namely the “Reusable” concept which represents consumer preferences. Analysis using GA, obtained packaging design elements include material “Polyethylene”, shape “Rectangle Tub”, lid “Snap On & Pull-Tab Lid”, features “Hanger Hole”, volume “Medium”, design “Modern”, color “Natural” and print type “Sticker”.
