Abstract

LBW is used as a parameter to assess the health status of the population widely. More than 20 million of the world's total births per year are LBW babies (15-20%). Indonesia itself has 6.1% of LBW cases by 2023, which is short of the global target. Therefore, this research aims to identify the maternal factors associated to LBW incidence in Indonesia, which will be used to develop evidence-based health policies. This research design used a cross-sectional design and data obtained from the Indonesia Health Survey (IHS) 2023, with 11.769 samples. Data were analyzed with descriptive analysis and a chi-square test. The results from this study showed that there was an association between CED (p-value 0,0001 < 0,05), hypertension (p-value 0,0001 < 0,05), and parity (p-value 0,002 < 0,05). On the other hand, variables that were not significantly associated with LBW because the p-value was more than 0.05 were maternal age, maternal education, and iron intake. This means that early detection of the pregnant woman's condition is necessary to prevent LBW.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a significant health problem among the elderly population, with an estimated prevalence ranging from 60% to 80%. Proper treatment of hypertension in the elderly is essential, as it can lead to decreased quality of life, difficulties in social and physical functioning, and an increased risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Objective: This study explores the potential use of autosuggestive techniques as a new intervention in managing hypertension in the elderly to improve health outcomes and quality of life. Method: The method used is bibliometric analysis to map and synthesize related literature in the Scopus reputable database. Key Results: The main results of the analysis show that managing hypertension in the elderly requires a comprehensive approach, including knowledge, attitudes, and practice (KAP) intervention models, family support, and the development of self-empowerment models. Autosuggestive techniques have the potential to be integrated into this approach as a novel intervention that can improve blood pressure control and quality of life in older people with hypertension. Conclusion: This study concludes that autosuggestive techniques can be a promising intervention to improve health outcomes and quality of life in the elderly with hypertension. Integrating these techniques into a comprehensive hypertension management approach can provide significant benefits to the elderly population.

Abstract

The postpartum period, also known as the postpartum period, begins immediately after the birth of the neonate and placenta and ends at 6–8 weeks. Maternal mortality in Indonesia was caused by bleeding in 30.5%, infection in 22.5%, gestosis in 17.5%, and anesthesia in 2.0%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the risk factors that affect the incidence of complications in postpartum mothers in the working area of the Grobogan Health Center in 2025. This research is quantitative with a case control study design, using data from the Grobogan Health Center in 2025. The analysis used was univariate, bivariate (chi-square test), and multivariate analysis (logistic regression). The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal education (p=0.011, OR=1.83), employment status (p<0.0001, OR=2.52), gestational age (p<0.0001, OR=3.02), parity status (p=0.034, OR=1.24), BMI (p<0.0001, OR=9.09), childbirth distance (p<0.0001,OR=13.38), hypertension (p=0.006, OR=2.4), diet (p<0.0001, OR=5.797) and exposure to cigarette smoke (p<0.0001, OR=3.50), history of psychological disorders (p=0.007,OR=0.158), and LBW (p<0.0001, OR=2.443). The results of this study are expected to increase postpartum mothers’ awareness of the importance of recognizing and  managing risk factors that may lead to complications, thereby encouraging healthy behaviors and informed decision-making during the postpartum period.

Abstract

The prevalence rate in Semarang City has not yet reached the global SDG 2025 target of a 25% reduction (WHO, 2023). Hypertension is often referred to as a “silent killer” because its early symptoms are rarely noticeable, leading many individuals to be unaware of their condition until complications such as gastritis and duodenitis occur. This study aims to analyze the epidemiological patterns of hypertension and gastritis and duodenitis, as well as the association between these conditions and hypertension incidence. This quantitative research uses a nested case-control design with SIMPUS data from Semarang City from 2020–2022, involving 220,093 patients, consisting of 21,639 cases and 198,032 controls. The dependent variable was hypertension, while gastritis and duodenitis served as independent variables. Univariate and bivariate (chi-square) analyses were performed. The results show that hypertension was more common in women (27,709 patients) and highest in the 50–59 age group, while gastritis and duodenitis were also more frequent in women (25,042 patients), peaking in the 20–29 age group. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant association between gastritis and duodenitis and hypertension. Among males, the highest risk occurred in the 70–79 age group, with an OR of 2.76 (95% CI: 2.62–2.89), while among females, the highest risk was observed in the 80–89 age group, with an OR of 3.32 (95% CI: 3.08–3.57). The Semarang City Health Office is recommended to strengthen hypertension prevention by prioritizing early screening for gastritis and duodenitis in high-risk older adults.

Abstract

One of the most common causes of mortality related to noncommunicable disease is diabetes mellitus. Driven by the high number of people living with diabetes globally, Indonesia ranks fifth with approximately 19.5 million diabetes cases (IDF, 2021).  The nation that is Indonesia's provides the latest statistic that shows the prevalence of diabetes has been increasing over the five-year stretch of 1.5% in 2018 to 1.7% in 2023 for all ages, and for those 15 years and older is 2.0% in 2018 to 2.2% in 2023. Among the 38 provinces of Indonesia, Central Java ranks 8 in for diabetes. In the last calendar year with reports ranging from 2022 to 2023, Semarang City reported a 2.08% increase and the Module 1a (2 diabetes 0% target) has shown no shifts and zero diabetes and obesity (0%) target has been shown. At the same time, many people suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus continue to suffer from hypertension. This research is going to discuss the epidemiological trends of T2DM and hypertension to understand the link between hypertension and T2DM based on gender and age. This is a quantitative and observational study based on the research of the Semarang City SIMPUS system of the years 2010 to 2015 and analyzed using the univariate method (using frequency distribution) and the bivariate method (using chi-square test). Findings indicate an alarming trend of higher prevalence of comorbid diabetes type 2 and hypertension among women than men.
