Abstract

The penetration of generative AI (GenAI) applications in Indonesian higher education has increased significantly; however, the understanding of the multi-application usage ecosystem among pre-service elementary school teachers remains limited. This study aims to describe the usage patterns of 13 GenAI applications by Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students at Universitas Katolik Musi Charitas and to understand the functions, motives, and perceived limitations in designing lesson plans. A Convergent Parallel Mixed Methods design was applied using two parallel strands: the QUAN strand utilized an online questionnaire administered to 101 students (analyzed using descriptive frequencies and percentages), and the QUAL strand employed purposive in-depth interviews with 9–13 informants, which were analyzed using thematic analysis. Integration was conducted through a joint display at the interpretation stage. ChatGPT dominated the usage (85.1%; n=86), followed by Grammarly (21.8%; n=22) and Google Bard/Gemini (10.9%; n=11). The primary purpose of usage was seeking references or additional learning resources (83.2%). Four main themes were identified: (T1) the function of GenAI in lesson plan design, (T2) motives for selecting specific applications, (T3) perceived limitations, and (T4) usage patterns of multi-application combinations with ChatGPT as the primary application. The joint display results showed a convergence between the QUAN data and QUAL findings regarding the dominance of ChatGPT, and revealed that the purpose of use reported in the questionnaire ("seeking references") refers to specific pedagogical functions in designing teaching modules.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara kritis konsep micropolitics dalam organisasi sekolah serta mengelaborasi strategi kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam mengelola dinamika kekuasaan pada tingkat mikro. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kajian literatur kualitatif dengan analisis tematik terhadap berbagai sumber yang relevan. Hasil sintesis menunjukkan bahwa micropolitics merupakan realitas inheren dalam kehidupan sekolah yang tercermin melalui relasi kekuasaan, negosiasi kepentingan, konflik dan kolaborasi antar aktor. Micropolitics tidak selalu bersifat destruktif tetapi juga dapat menjadi mekanisme strategis untuk membangun konsensus dan mendorong perubahan apabila dikelola secara reflektif dan etis. Dalam konteks kepemimpinan, kepala sekolah berperan sebagai aktor sentral yang perlu memahami serta menggunakan kekuasaan secara kontekstual melalui pendekatan power over, power with dan power through. Penggunaan kekuasaan yang proporsional dan situasional memungkinkan kepala sekolah menyeimbangkan berbagai dinamika micropolitics di sekolah. Kajian ini menegaskan bahwa micropolitics perlu diposisikan sebagai kompetensi esensial kepemimpinan kepala sekolah guna menciptakan iklim sekolah yang partisipatif, adaptif dan berorientasi pada peningkatan mutu pendidikan.

Abstract

This Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PkM) activity was conducted in response to the increasing number of domestic violence cases involving children, as well as the ongoing tendency of some parents to entrust character education entirely to schools. The program was carried out through an in-person parenting seminar at SD Indriasana Palembang on January 23, 2026. Attended by 38 parents/guardians of 1st to 3rd-grade students, the seminar discussed the characteristics of Generation Alpha, parenting challenges in the digital age, the importance of role modeling, positive communication, emotional support, and children's character building. The evaluation results showed that 86.8% of the participants found the activity to be highly beneficial. All respondents (100%) agreed that character education is a shared responsibility between schools and parents. The majority of respondents emphasized the importance of parental role-modeling, emotional support for children, and the cultivation of basic values such as honesty (76.3% strongly agreed), responsibility (71.1% strongly agreed), and politeness (73.7% strongly agreed). However, maintaining consistency in applying rules at home remains a challenge, as the proportion of those who "agreed" (60.5%) was higher than those who "strongly agreed" (39.5%). Additionally, 5.3% of the respondents have yet to support regular communication with teachers. Overall, this program successfully increased parental awareness and strengthened the synergy between school and home, producing a parental guidance module titled "Orang Tua Hebat" (Great Parents) as its output.
