Abstract

The initial interest of elementary school students towards extracurricular music shows a low percentage, which is 50.29%. Therefore, teachers need to make efforts to increase students' interest in that extracurricular music. The learning by doing method is applied to students to enhance their interest in extracurricular music. The methods used are qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive (mixing method). Data collection is conducted through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The research results indicate that the learning by doing model can increase students' interest in extracurricular music by 90.73% and can foster student interest in the learning process as well as in music activities. In this effort, support from the school and teachers' facilities and infrastructure is needed, including increasing music activities (practice) in the process of learning music arts and requiring students to actively participate in the learning process such as asking questions, giving opinions, and engaging in music activities in the classroom.

Abstract

Choosing a learning strategy is very important to get optimal learning results, providing motivation and interest in learning for students in learning mathematics in elementary school. The implementation of music and melodies in learning can be used as a solution strategy to provide a positive impact on learning in creating and increasing creativity, self-confidence, motivation and cognitive skills. Apart from that, the strategy of using music in learning is an effective strategy to implement so that students can learn independently. For this reason, this study investigates the impact of music and melody teaching on lower grade elementary school mathematics learning outcomes. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with an experimental design and a control group. The statistical population includes 120 third grade students selected as the research sample. Both groups learn the same things and defined concepts. However, the experimental group learned these concepts using music and melody teaching, while the control group learned these concepts using conventional-based teaching methods and students' final mathematics scores were used in the analysis. Questionnaires, motivational questionnaires, learning outcomes tests are used in research instruments. The results of covariance analysis show that teaching mathematics using music and melody methods has a significant positive impact on elementary school students' mathematics learning, namely (87.3%) and increases student learning motivation by (92%). Therefore, it can be concluded that applying melodic teaching in learning mathematical concepts can be more effective than conventional teaching methods.

Abstract

The misalignment between academic orientation and professional practice demands in instrumental music education indicates a gap in the integration of graduate competencies. The relevance of learning is influenced by formal curricular structures that tend to be rigid, resulting in inconsistent connections with professional practice. This study employs a qualitative approach using a narrative literature review design with thematic synthesis. The data corpus consists of 25 scholarly articles published between 2019 and 2026, sourced from Google Scholar, Scopus, SINTA, and Garuda. The analysis identifies structural barriers, including curricular fragmentation and limited connectivity with professional ecosystems. The dominance of product-oriented assessment constrains the development of learning processes, while limited digital infrastructure weakens the integration between academic learning and real-world practice. An Integrative Conceptual Framework (ICF) is proposed as an analytical tool to interpret and guide the development of instrumental music pedagogy. The framework comprises epistemological foundations, adaptive curricular design, and institutional ecosystem connectivity. Strengthening the relationship between educational institutions and industry is essential for the effective implementation of this framework.
