Abstract

West Java is the most populated province in Indonesia, and this places quite a heavy burden in facing the wave of demographic dividend which is predicted to occur in 2030-2035. This article aims to identify patterns of similarity and anomalous values from West Java demographics using spatial autocorrelation. The data used consists of population growth rates at the Regency/City level in West Java as well as growth factors such as birth rates (TFR), infant mortality (IMR), and migration. To identify spatial patterns from demographic variables, Global Moran statistics and Local Indicators of Spatial Association (LISA) with the ArcMap application are used. The results show that there is global and local spatial autocorrelation for the demographic variables considered. The use of LISA also shows the existence of clusters and outliers that are formed as well as an indication of their location in West Java. The contribution of this study is to provide an overview of significant locations in West Java for policy studies and further research in preparing for the momentum of the demographic dividend.

Abstract

Determining the correct strategic issues when developing an area is crucial so that the solution can effectively be implemented to the existing dynamics. Unfortunately, determining strategic issues is often disregarded or not taken seriously during the planning process. A Similar mistake of not defining strategic issues appropriately looms over the development of Mekarmanik Village, which is based on the Rasagalor Coffee Educational Tourism Concept. This research aims to understand the development dynamics happening in Mekarmanik Village so that the correct issue could be determined. By using data and information gathered from literature studies, focus group discussions, and field observations two types of analysis were done to correctly determine strategic issues that fit with the existing condition of Mekarmanik Village, namely case study, content analysis, and descriptive analysis. The result shows that the strategic issues of developing Mekarmanik Village as a tourism village are specific education, tourism concept exploration, and physical infrastructure improvement.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of passive telecommunications infrastructure (IPT) plays an important role in supporting digital transformation and urban spatial planning. However, in Bandung City, underground cable excavation works as part of IPT development not only cause traffic disruption during implementation but also frequently degrade road pavement quality due to restoration processes that do not comply with technical standards. This study aims to evaluate the level of conformity of cable excavation manhole restoration in Bandung City with road construction regulations. The evaluation employs a conformance-based approach using a scoring technique applied to six technical indicators: the gap between the cover and frame, the presence of utility identification, the condition of the cover material, surface depressions or protrusions, surface uniformity, and elevation relative to the roadway. A total of 82 manhole locations across 16 road segments were observed to assess field restoration conditions. The results indicate that 84,14% of the locations fall into the “fair” category, 10,98% into the “poor” category, and only 4,88% meet the “good” category. These findings suggest that most post-excavation road restorations have not met the required technical standards, particularly with respect to surface evenness and utility identification. Such conditions affect safety risk levels and pavement performance. Therefore, consistent supervision and improvements in restoration quality are required to ensure that IPT development aligns with the principles of safety and sustainability of road infrastructure.

Abstract

Rapid urbanization in Indonesia has significantly transformed the spatial needs of Muslim communities. This study examines the role of spatial planning in shaping the development of urban Muslim societies through a comparative analysis of Jakarta and Bandung. The research investigates how spatial planning policies influence the distribution, accessibility, and socio-religious functions of mosques and other religious facilities.,Employing a qualitative desk study approach, the research analyzes secondary data from national and regional spatial planning regulations, official demographic and religious statistics, and relevant scholarly literature. The analysis integrates global urban theories with the Islamic normative framework of maqashid sharia and spatial justice. The findings reveal notable disparities between the two cities. While Jakarta has a larger absolute number of mosques, Bandung demonstrates a higher ratio of religious facilities per population and relatively better spatial integration. However, both cities face challenges of land scarcity, commercialization pressures, and uneven distribution, particularly in high-density and informal settlements. These conditions indicate that current spatial planning has not yet optimally functioned as socio-religious infrastructure. This study concludes that spatial planning must be repositioned as a transformative instrument that integrates ethical values and social justice.  By bridging maqashid sharia with spatial justice concepts, the research offers a new perspective for more inclusive urban planning in Muslim-majority cities. The findings contribute to both theoretical discourse on Islamic urbanism and practical policy recommendations for equitable spatial development in Indonesia and similar Global South contexts

Abstract

The increase in vehicle volume in Bandung City, particularly in the Ciroyom area adjacent to the railway and market area, has resulted in significant traffic congestion. This has prompted the construction of the Ciroyom flyover, which is expected to improve travel time efficiency and smooth vehicle traffic in the surrounding area. This study aims to evaluate travel time efficiency and analyze public perceptions of the Ciroyom flyover. This study uses a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative analysis of vehicle travel time before and after the flyover through descriptive statistics, with a qualitative approach through field surveys and questionnaires distributed to road users and residents. Performance evaluations were conducted on five variables: travel time efficiency, congestion, traffic smoothness, driving comfort, and driving safety. The results show that all variables obtained evaluation scores at the "fairly good" level, with vehicle travel times ranging from 2-4 minutes and respondents feeling helped by the flyover. Although not yet optimal, the Ciroyom flyover has proven quite effective in improving mobility and safety, also provides a strong foundation for the development of similar infrastructure in the future.

Abstract

The growth and development of the population has caused urbanization phenomena that imply some problems such as congestion, dusty settlements, lack of open green spaces, floods, air pollution, which of course can reduce the comfort and aesthetics that exist in Bandung City. Efforts to improve the aesthetics of the city of Bandung, are currently limited to attempts to set up pavements and parks, as well as underground cable planting systems. (ducting kabel). The aesthetics of a city and its layout can influence the way people see and feel the city, as well as how they interact with its surroundings. Therefore, in order to make an effort to improve the aesthetics of a more targeted city, it is necessary to assess the quality of aesthesia of the city first. Thus, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the aesthetic quality and the efforts to improve the quality of the esthetics of the city in Bandung. The evaluation of the city's aesthetic quality was analysed using the Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) method, which assessed 25 vantage points in Bandung. From the results of the SBE assessment , the vantage point with the lowest SBE score is found in the densely populated area of Tamansari (A1) with a score of 0.00 and the highest is the area of Mesjid Al Jabbar (F2) with the score of 227.56.
