Abstract

Ecoanxiety, which encompasses the psychological impacts of environmental change, has emerged as a pressing global concern. However, the complex interrelationship between environmental factors and mental health in the context of ecoanxiety remains underexplored. This bibliometric analysis examines the evolution of international research on ecoanxiety and mental health using the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Parameters analyzed include publication trends over time, contributing countries, research foci, and keyword frequencies related to climate change, ecoanxiety, mental health, and solastalgia. The findings reveal surging scholarship in recent years, exponential publication growth, and increasing international collaborations. The total of 214 documents initially retrieved, 122 peer-reviewed publications met the inclusion criteria after pre-processing. The analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of ecoanxiety and mental health research. It elucidates patterns in the emergence and progression of this burgeoning field to inform future research directions. Specifically, the elucidated features regarding keyword usage and research trends establish a foundation to advance investigations on the nexus between environmental issues and psychological well-being. This bibliometric study synthesizes existing knowledge and unveils fruitful avenues to progress understanding of the psychological ramifications of ecological crises.

Abstract

Balance disorders pose a significant risk for falls among the elderly and can greatly diminish their quality of life. This study seeks to inspect the impact of incorporating balance exercises with tandem walking on enhancing balance in the elderly demographic. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups was utilized. A total of thirty-two elderly participants from two nursing homes in East Java were chosen through purposive sampling. The independent variable comprised the combination of balance exercises and tandem walking, while the dependent variable was the balance level, evaluated using the Time Up and Go Test (TUGT). Statistical analyses were operated utilizing the Paired t-Test, Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test, and Mann Whitney U Test with a significance level established at p < 0.05. In the intervention group, the average TUGT score before the intervention was 21.35 seconds (indicating unstable mobility), which improved to 16.01 seconds (indicating good mobility) after the intervention (p=0.000). Conversely, the control group, which did not undergo the combined intervention, showed average scores of 26.67 seconds before and 25.38 seconds after the intervention, both categorized as unstable mobility (p=0.326). The intervention group revealed a greater enhancement in balance with a average improvement of 5.33 seconds, compared to 1.28 seconds in the control group (p=0.002). These outcomes demonstrate that the combination of balance exercises and tandem walking is significantly effective in enhancing balance in the elderly. This intervention has the potential to minimize the danger of falls and enhance the overall quality of life among older adults.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted health policy globally, leading to heightened concern and urgency. However, previous studies have been hampered by limited resources and insufficient discussions on the long-term implications for health policies following multiple COVID-19 waves. Thus, this study examined the evolution of international studies on post-COVID-19 health policy. A comprehensive analysis used well-known literature databases Scopus and Web of Science to explore parameters including publication growth, participating countries, areas of interest, and keyword analysis of topics such as"COVID-19" and "Health Policy." The United States emerged as an active participant, focusing on "Computer science." Key themes included "COVID-19 Pandemic," "Public health policy," and "Epidemiology," highlighting current trends. It emphasized the significance of global cooperation and knowledge exchange in addressing the complex challenges posed by the pandemic and shaping resilient health policies for the future. The contribution of this study lies in providing a comprehensive overview of post-COVID-19 health policy research and its implications for the health field.

Abstract

Determining the prevalence of sarcopenia and identifying associated factors can aid in early detection and treatment among community-dwelling elderly. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of sarcopenia and identify associated factors. This cross-sectional study was conducted in the elderly community within the two areas of Public Health Center, Semarang, Indonesia, through random sampling. Sarcopenia was defined based on the 2019 Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) criteria. Data on socio-demographics, clinical, and functional status were collected and associated factors analyzed using multivariable logistic regression. Of the 153 participants, the prevalence of severe sarcopenia was 50.33%, and overall sarcopenia prevalence was 44.44%. Elderly individuals with severe sarcopenia had a mean age of 69.45, with a higher occurrence in women (79.2%) compared to men. Age (p=0.003; APR: 1.105; 95% CI: 1.035-1.180), toilet type (p=0.002; APR: 4.194; 95% CI: 1.677-10.493), and being female (p=0.049; APR: 2.341; 95% CI: 1.003-5.460) were identified as risk factors for severe sarcopenia. The prevalence of severe sarcopenia is elevated among community-dwelling elderly. Sarcopenia was defined as low muscle mass with low handgrip strength and/or low gait speed. Routine check-ups are needed to detect sarcopenia and its risk factors in primary health care to enable early intervention for sarcopenia in the elderly.
