Abstract

Humans as the main actors in social action are a concern that cannot be underestimated when the problems that arise threaten the existence of human values. Islam comes as a founder that facilitates basic human rights. This paper seeks to explain the attitudes and efforts made by the Prophet towards slavery and his role in leading Medina in the midst of plurality and fanaticism at that time. In this study, the author uses a library research method by referring to several literatures such as hadith, books, and scientific articles. The results of this study indicate that the efforts made by the Prophet were essentially to abolish slavery, and the values of the policy in the Medina Charter are clearly to realize peace and harmony among mankind. At least there are several concepts that become stages to abolishing slavery, including treating slaves like their own brothers, encouraging and ordering freeing slaves, and ordering freeing slaves as sanctions for actions taken. While the values of the Medina Charter illustrate that the leadership and attitudes taken by the Prophet became the answer to the basic essence of human values. In the midst of the heterogeneous conditions of Medina society and frequent conflicts, the Prophet managed to overcome the problem by uniting and realizing peace through the establishment of the Medina Charter. The role played by the Prophet needs to be studied and researched in a broader scope to find out and apply Islamic attitudes and actions in overcoming humanitarian problems and social systems.

Islam comes as a founder that facilitates basic human rights. This paper seeks to explain the attitude and efforts shown by the Prophet towards slavery and its implications in upholding human rights. This research uses library research by referring to several literatures such as ḥadīths, books and scientific articles that are relevant to the discussion. Abstract

This article aims to explore the practice of boycotting during the Prophet's time, including whether it was carried out by the Prophet, his Companions, or the opposition. It also investigates whether hadith, as an authoritative source in Islam, supports boycotting and how to contextualize these teachings in the present. This research employs a library-based approach, collecting data from hadith, books, and scholarly articles relevant to the topic. The methods used include takhrij hadith and descriptive-analytical processing of historical accounts of boycotting during the Prophet's era to describe and analyze its contemporary application. The study finds that boycotting practices existed during the Prophet's time and were carried out by the Prophet and his Companions. Implementing hadith on boycotting in the modern context is complex but remains relevant to issues such as war and blasphemy. Additionally, contemporary boycotts have evolved into moral support actions at individual and international levels, aimed at drawing attention and resolving conflicts. Muslim scholars, institutions, and religious organizations consider boycott rulings based on fraternal hadith, the prohibition of oppression, and ijtihad through Islamic legal approaches (fiqh and ushul fiqh), such as Syadd al-Żarāi' and Qiyās. These considerations integrate textual evidence with modern contexts, ensuring flexible and dynamic rulings that align with the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharīʻah), particularly justice and welfare for the ummah.

Abstract

This study examines Digital Takhrij Hadith through the lens of Islamic Digital Humanities (IDH), proposing an epistemic framework for verifying and preserving hadith authenticity in the digital era. Using a systematic literature review and interpretative digital analysis, it explores how digital infrastructures—such as metadata provenance, semantic modeling, and AI-assisted verification—extend the classical logic of isnād, matn, and amānah al-naql. The proposed Digital Takhrij Epistemic Model (DiTEM) unites epis-temological integrity, ontological coherence, and ethical accountability to ensure trust-worthy digital transmission of hadith. Findings show that digitization, when guided by Islamic epistemology, enhances access and scholarly collaboration without compromising authenticity. Rather than replacing traditional scholarship, digital takhrij revitalizes it, transforming digital platforms into ethically grounded ecosystems of ʿilm. This synthesis demonstrates that digital technology can serve not as disruption but as ihyāʾ al-ʿilm—the revival of sacred knowledge through responsible innovation.

Abstract

Dynamic social patterns will undergo changes in various community systems including the concept of being a neighbor and guest which is a major part of daily activities. These developments and changes will experience stagnation and even conflict between individuals or community groups if they are not accompanied by good values as a basic footing in socializing. This paper seeks to explore the Hadith's view on the noble attitude towards neighbors and guests and its relationship to the level of faith. This research fully uses library research by applying the descriptive-analytical method, namely by presenting the related traditions and analyzing their relation to the level of faith. The results of this study show that honoring neighbors and guests has a strong urgency in the view of the hadith. Good behavior towards neighbors and guests is important to be applied in social life. A good attitude towards neighbors is not only limited to the rules applied in social ethics, but has a connection with the faith of a Muslim where the attitude towards neighbors and guests is one of the strong indicators of the level of faith of a Muslim. From the analysis of the traditions studied, it can be concluded that honoring neighbors and guests is highly considered in Islam, these noble morals are not only limited to commands but as a benchmark for the level of perfection of one's faith.

Abstract

Hadith constitutes an authoritative source of Islamic law after the Qur’an. However, throughout its history, its authority has been subject to continuous re-examination, both through isnād (chain of transmission) and matn (content) criticism. This article examines contemporary discourses on ḥadīth criticism and their implications for the authority of hadith by tracing classical and modern literature and comparing them with the views of contemporary Muslim hadith scholars. The findings reveal that contemporary hadith discourse can be mapped into three major perspectives: Orientalists, Occidentalists, and contemporary Muslim scholars. Orientalists such as Goldziher, Schacht, Juynboll, and others, who predominantly employed historical criticism as their main analytical tool, tend to regard hadith as a later socio-political construct, thereby casting doubt on its authority to a significant extent. Their critiques have influenced certain Occidentalist figures who highlight methodological weaknesses within the hadith tradition, particularly in transmission, codification, and the subjective nature of isnād evaluation, with a stronger emphasis on matn criticism. While the critiques of Orientalists and their resonance among modern Muslim thinkers reflect a concern that has encouraged more rigorous and comprehensive engagement with hadith studies among contemporary scholars, they often remain reductive and ahistorical. In response, contemporary hadith scholars such as Nūr al-Dīn ʻItr, al-Idlibī, al-Sibāʿī, and al-Jawābī assert that both isnād and matn criticism had in fact been practiced since the early period, even though methodological frameworks were conceptually systematized at a later stage. Consequently, the substantive authority of hadith as a normative Islamic text remains intact. This article underscores the relevance and urgency of hadith criticism methodologies in addressing modern challenges while reaffirming the central position of hadith within Islamic authority.
