Abstract

AbstractThe research aims to evaluate the ability of class VIII middle school students in understanding news texts using learning video media via the Nearpod platform. A descriptive qualitative approach was used by observing junior high school students as the main data source. Students at Al-Ma'Arif Middle School filled out questionnaires as a data collection technique, which was then analyzed through reading, note-taking and documentation methods. The accuracy of the results of this research is guaranteed through source triangulation techniques, with researchers seeking information from various sources to ensure data accuracy. The research results show that the use of learning video media through the Nearpod platform received a positive response from students, thus indicating that the Nearpod platform is gaining acceptance of technology in the educational context. This research provides insight into how a multimedia approach can be an effective tool in improving educational standards by utilizing technology. The implications of this research can help develop more innovative learning strategies at junior high school level and can improve their understanding of news texts through video media. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan siswa SMP kelas VIII dalam memahami teks berita dengan menggunakan media video pembelajaran melalui platform Nearpod. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif digunakan dengan mengamati siswa SMP sebagai sumber data utama. Siswa di SMP Al-Ma'Arif mengisi kuesioner sebagai teknik pengumpulan data, yang kemudian dianalisis melalui membaca, mencatat, dan metode dokumentasi.  Keakuratan hasil penelitian ini dijamin melalui teknik triangulasi sumber, dengan peneliti mencari informasi dari berbagai sumber untuk memastikan keakuratan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media video pembelajaran melalui platform Nearpod meraih respons positif dari siswa, dengan begitu menandakan platform Nearpod mendapatkan penerimaan teknologi dalam konteks pendidikan. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana pendekatan multimedia dapat menjadi alat yang efektif dalam meningkatkan standar pendidikan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi. Implikasi dari penelitian ini dapat membantu pengembangan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif di tingkat SMP dan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman mereka terhadap teks berita melalui media video.

Abstract

This article discusses the poetry writing abilities of grade 4 students at Kedaung Elementary School, Depok. 4th-grade elementary school students' understanding of poetry is still very limited, even when writing poetry individually. Therefore, teaching poetry material in elementary school requires learning media. Cartoon videos are used as learning media for elementary school students because they are very popular. This research was conducted with the aims of finding out the extent of the poetry writing skills of grade 4 elementary school students and analyzing the effectiveness of video media in improving the poetry writing skills of grade 4 elementary school students. Descriptive qualitative methods and open interviews were used in this research. Poetry by 4th grade students at SDN Kedaung, Depok, was used as a data source. Based on this research, it was found that there was an increase in the poetry writing skills of grade 4 elementary school students by using cartoon video media. Of the 30 students, it was found that 24 students experienced an increase in their grades from the first poem to the second poem they wrote. This is proven by the average score for poetry 1 is 65.5 and for writing poetry 2 is 73.2. Based on the results of open interviews, it was found that 21 students felt they had no more difficulty writing poetry after watching cartoon videos. So it is concluded that the use of video media in the form of cartoons is very effective in improving poetry writing skills in students at the elementary school level.
