Abstract

Academic performance is usually viewed in terms of numerical figures as manifested in the individual activities of students in the classroom. As mentioned by Husaini, Y & Shukor, N (2022), students' Academic Performance is vital for assessing a student's standing within a university. It makes it possible for academic staff, educational administrators, and decision-makers to precisely evaluate students taking various courses throughout a semester. Additionally, it served as a cautionary tale for the students to assess their performance level and make subsequent improvements Supported by the results from the study of Husaini, Y & Shukor, N (2023), students' academic performance is vital for assessing a student's standing within a university. It makes it possible for academic staff, educational administrators, and decision-makers to precisely evaluate students taking various courses throughout a semester. The study investigated the relationship between student’s academic performance and their participation on Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Activities. It further investigated if Age, Sex and Academic Program would cause significant differences in their Academic Performance, Co-curricular Activities and Extra-curricular Activities. A total of 75 students from the Business Administration program participates in the study. The students were from the four (4) academic majors namely; Marketing Management, Financial Management, Operation Management and Human Resource Management. Results revealed that Co-curricular Activities and Extra-curricular Activities of the students are both significantly related to their academic performance with P-value < 0.05. Likewise, the Age, Sex and Academic Program of the students did not cause any differences on their assessments towards Academic Performance, Co-curricular Activities and Extra-curricular Activities with P-value of >0.05.

Abstract

Performance evaluation practices for faculty members has been an effective method to improve faculty performance, thus, educational institution must give paramount importance on ways to improve the performance of their faculty members. Indicated in the study of Mamatha, H et al (2021), higher education institutions being the major economic drivers in a nation rely on their faculty for quality of education. Traditional methods of performance evaluation based on quantitative data are more of a mathematical calculation than a scientific approach. The research sought answers to the effectiveness of evaluation practices in terms of student evaluation, peer evaluation and immediate superior evaluation as mechanism to enhance performance of faculty members. The research employed a quantitative-descriptive methodology and the main participants in the research are academic heads and faculty members. Results revealed that, the current evaluation practices of the select educational institution are effective as assessed by the participants. In terms of identifying differences, results revealed that between academic head and faculty members, there was no significant difference in the assessment about student evaluation, peer evaluation and immediate superior evaluation. On the other hand, when faculty members are categorized in terms of employment status, result revealed that their assessment differs on the three evaluation practices.

Abstract

The existence of hazards and risks in businesses is inevitable, specifically, in the construction industry. The research is qualitative by nature which aimed the identification and investigation of the actual hazards and risks in the workplace as experienced by the select construction workers as main participants in the research. A total of eleven (11) constructions workers were utilized in the research and selected by way of purposive sampling. During the focus discussions, participants are divided into three groups. Among others, results revealed the following construction-related hazards: Scattered Broken Tiles, Unstable Scaffolding, Scattered Nails, Insufficient Lightning, Exposed Extension Wire and Chiselling and Grinding, No Insulation and Physical Transport of Heavy materials. The research further investigated the level of risks in the identified hazard using the probability and severity matrix. At average, the identified risks obtained a high level of probability while severity at average is to medium or moderate only. Occupational Construction and Health and Safety Program was developed based on the results of this research.

Abstract

roviding quality services is a must for all type of industry and the requirement is not different from the industry of real estate. As mentioned by Chege, S & Bett S (2019), the real estate industry is one of the most important industries for the development and economy of a nation and therefore important that adequate measures are put in place to ensure quality in the sector. This study investigated the quality management systems of select real estate firms focusing on the following areas: Customer Focus, Leadership, Involvement of People, Process Approach, Continual Improvement, Factual Approach to Decision Making and Mutually Beneficial Supplier Relationship. Indicated in the study of Quiambao, J & Alvaro, K (2023), that the QMS practices dimensions top management leadership, customer orientation, process control and improvement, and employee engagement each had significant positive impact on each business performance perspectives financial, customer, internal business processes, and innovation and learning of the subject government corporation Likewise, the study identified following themes focusing on areas of real estate quality management practices were culled out” Client Determination, Keeping Clients Satisfied, Handling Complaints, Direction Setting, Planning, Alignment and Empowerment, Communication, Opportunities and Growth, Competence, Communication Enhancement, General Rule, Client Need, Efficiency and Effectiveness, Firm Reputation, Accessibility of Data, Word of Honor, Act of Appreciation and Fairness and Quality.

Abstract

The research assessed the User Interface of a Select Consumer Mobile Application and its effect to the buying behaviour of Generation Z. The Visual Appeal, Navigational Content and Application’s Data Modelling are used as factors for the Mobile App User Interface while Frequency, Quantity and Timing of Purchase are used for Purchase Behaviour. The research is quantitative in nature and utilized 250 respondents selected by way of purposive and random sampling. Results revealed that, in terms of the User’s Interface, respondents expressed a Strong Agreement on the aspect of usability in terms of features and functionalities of the select Consumer Mobile Application. Similarly, a Strong Agreement is also expressed by the respondents towards influence of the user interface in their Purchasing Behaviour. Also, result revealed that the User’s Interface of the Select Mobile Application Strongly Influenced the Purchasing Behaviour of the respondents.

Abstract

Every profession has a different focus of specialization and every professional’s competence are measured against their level of expertise, effectiveness, and efficiency. Meanwhile, conflict is inevitable, and it may cause destructive impacts if not managed properly. On one hand, Custom Brokers, as per “Custom, Broker Act of 2004” are professionals who render consultation, preparation of customs requisite document for imports and exports, declaration of taxes, etc. The study assessed the extent of adherence of customs brokers to code of ethics in terms of Competence, Respect, Integrity, Justice and Fairness. The customs broker’s adherence indicates the extent of practice of their code of ethics and results revealed that, customs brokers usually and always adhere to code of ethics. However, results also revealed that, there is a significant difference in the assessment of the Customs Broker Practitioners towards adherence to Code of Ethics.

Abstract

There is no organization with no conflict situations (Kharadze & Gulua (2023), thus, this research identified and analysed organizational conflict in the subject institution. It further investigated the effectiveness of conflict resolution as practiced by the select organization. The study is qualitative in nature and utilized twelve (12) key informants selected by way of purposive sampling. Results revealed common organizational conflicts, strategies and suggestions based on the experience of the select key informants. The following organizational conflicts were culled out: Misinterpretation/Misunderstanding, Failure to Comply, Leadership Conflict, Professional Rivalry, Work Load Distribution and Undesirable Decision-making. On the other hand, the following are the common strategies applied to solve organizational conflict: Teambuilding, One-on-One Interaction, Portraying Positive Disposition, Identifying and Eradicating Root Causes and Policy Re-orientation. Lastly, the following are suggested by the key informants to lessen if not to solve organizational conflict: Socialization Activities, Collaborative Activities, Expert Advice, Helpful Attitude and Openness and Honesty.

Abstract

Conflict is inevitable in all organizations as well as in all professions and with proper management its negative effect can always be mitigated. This research utilized a descriptive-comparative approach and determined the extent of conflict management practices in customs brokerage from one hundred eighty professional brokers. Results revealed that customs brokers highly practiced the following conflict management: Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding, and Accommodating. Likewise, results further revealed that there is no difference in the extent of practices of conflict management by customs brokers when industry, years in practice, and age are considered.

Abstract

Board courses have been highlighted in all higher education institutions regardless of the program. Most education institutions, if not all, are using board performance as one of their marketing strategies to attract more enrollees, and the customs administration is not an exception. Thus, this study is conducted to determine whether mock board performance is associated with licensure examination performance and if it can predict such. The study utilized thirty-six (36) takers from 2021 – 2023. Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test of 2-independent Sample is used and determined that data are normally distributed with significance values greater than 0.05. On the other hand, Spearman-Rank Correlation is used and determined that Performance in the Mock Board Examination is directly related to the Performance in the Customs Broker Licensure Examination with significance values less than 0.05. On the other hand, simple regression is used and determined that performance in the mock board examination is a determinant for the performance in the licensure examination obtaining probability values of less than 0.05.
