Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship interpersonal communication  between parent-child and self-control towards bullying behavior in early adolescents in Dororejo Village, Doro District, Pekalongan Regency. The subjects of this study were early adolescents spread across 5 schools in Doro District, Pekalongan Regency, totaling 270 students. The research sampling technique was simple random sampling. This research uses Multiple Linear Regression Test and correlation product moments as data analysis. The research instrument was a bullying behavior scale based on Darmawan's theory, a parent-child interpersonal communication scale based on DeVito's theory and a self-control scale based on Averill's theory. The results showed a relationship between interpersonal communication and self-control towards bullying behavior, which was indicated by R = 0.293, R square = 0.086, F regression = 12.977, p = 0.000 (p <0.001). In addition, it was also found that parent-child interpersonal communication had a negative and significant effect on bullying behavior as indicated by the value of rx1y = -0.245 (p<0.001) and also self-control has a negative and significant effect on bullying behavior as indicated by the value of rx2y = -0,257 ( p <0, 001).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of test items in a psycholinguistics course using the Classical Test Theory. The data used consisted of 30 students’ responses to 20 multiple-choice test items, which were analyzed using several indicators: difficulty level, discriminatory power, item-total correlation, and instrument reliability. The results showed that most items were in the moderate difficulty category (p = 0.46–0.56), with one item categorized as easy (p = 0.73) and two items as difficult (p = 0.26). The discriminatory power of the majority of items was in the very good category (87.5%–100%), while three items showed lower discriminatory power and required revision. The item-total correlation was generally very high (r = 0.88–0.99), indicating consistency among items, but several items with lower correlations (r < 0.70) suggested possible wording inaccuracies or content inconsistencies. The test’s reliability reached 0.99, indicating very high internal consistency, although this value was influenced by the quite extreme response patterns between the upper and lower groups. Overall, the test instrument was considered good, but several items needed revision, particularly in terms of distractors, difficulty level, and item functionality, to ensure more accurate and representative learning evaluations.

Abstract

In early adulthood, individuals experience significant life transitions, which can lead to difficulties in self-adjustment due to societal expectations, commonly manifested in the phenomenon known as the quarter-life crisis. This condition is often triggered by social comparison. One potential factor that may help mitigate the emergence of a quarter-life crisis in early adulthood is psychological well-being. This study aims to examine and analyze the role of psychological well-being as a mediator between social comparison and the quarter-life crisis in early adulthood. The sampling technique used was nonprobability sampling, with criteria including individuals aged 18–40 years and residing in the city of Semarang, resulting in a total of 384 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using path analysis with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed a Sobel test value of 6.39 and a significance level of 0.000, indicating that psychological well-being serves as a mediator between social comparison and the quarter-life crisis in early adulthood. The implication of these findings is that enhancing psychological well-being can reduce the negative impact of social comparison on the level of quarter-life crisis. Therefore, interventions focusing on improving psychological well-being can serve as an effective strategy in addressing this crisis.

Abstract

HIV cases in Semarang City have increased annually, with a high prevalence among Men who have Sex with Men (MSM). The dual stigma associated with being both HIV-positive (PLHIV) and homosexual often leads to social sanctions, which in turn elicit negative emotional reactions as a form of grief in response to such stigma. This study aims to explore the self-acceptance process among homosexual PLHIV members of the Kariadi Peer Support Group (PSG) in Semarang, based on the Kübler-Ross grief model. The research employed a qualitative case study approach. The participants were three homosexual men living with HIV, who contracted the virus through same-sex intercourse and were members of the Kariadi Semarang PSG. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and overt observation. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model by Miles & Huberman. Data validity was tested through triangulation and verification with significant others. Findings indicate that all three participants went through the stages of denial, bargaining, depression, and acceptance in their journey toward self-acceptance. Only one participant did not go through the anger stage. Each participant had unique strategies and personal approaches in achieving self-acceptance of their HIV status. The implication of this research highlights the importance of openness among PLHIV in order to gain social support, which plays a critical role in facilitating self-acceptance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of social support and forgiveness on psychological well-being in early adult women after experiencing a breakup. This type of research is quantitative cross-sectional using purposive sampling technique. The sample characteristics in this study are adult women aged 18-40 years who have experienced a breakup for at least one year. The number of respondents was 542 participants. This research instrument uses a social support scale, based on the theory of Zimet, dkk. (1998) with a reliability result of 0.904. The pemaafan scale is based on McCullough’s (2000) theory with a reliability result of 0.928. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression analysis method by showing that there is a simultaneous influence between social support and pemaafan. The amount of social support and pemaafan variables can affect psychological well-being in adult women by 47.8% with the remaining 52.2% influenced by other factors.
