Abstract

Pikiran Rakyat Media Network (PRMN) is part of Pikiran-Rakyat.com which was created out of concern over the increasing number of unemployed in Indonesia. Pikiran Rakyat Media Network (PRMN) is here to make a real contribution. PRMN builds a digital media ecosystem that is dedicated to the independence of Indonesian youth, especially in the field of text and video-based content creators. PRMN prepares technology, infrastructure, training, mentoring, to a business plan, to give birth to new entrepreneurs in the field of digital media (Mediapreneur). On August 29, 2021, PRMN came up with the idea that it would start changing the word corrupt in its reporting to thieves, robbers, and looting people’s money. This study uses a quantitative descriptive research method that aims to see the reader’s perception of the word corruption carried out by PRMN. The results of this study indicate that the reader’s perception of the word corruptor gets positive results. Abstract

One of social media that is easy to use to express oneself and interact between users is Instagram. Instagram is the third most used social media platform until January 2021 with the majority of users are teenagers. The application has various features, one of them is the multiple account feature which supports self-disclosure. Instagram users usually do self-disclosure in different places. When you have more than one account, Instagram users tend to present themselves differently on each account. Therefore, there is a phenomenon of Instagram second account which is considered as a relatively safe place to express themselves because it only filled with the closest people. Pontianak City was chosen in this study because Kalimantan is one of the regions with a relatively high level of digital literacy and the era of globalization has touched Pontianak City so that it has influenced Pontianak City youth in using Instagram. this study uses a qualitative research method with dramaturgy theory by Erving Goffman where the main account is the front page and the second account is the back stage. The informants of this research involving 4 Pontianak City teenagers consisting of two boys and two girls. The researcher found that there are several reasons and purposes put forward by the informants for using second Instagram accounts and also there are differences in appearance and identify used in each account.

Abstract

Women in the mass media, basically talk about the women representation in the mass media, the media has always made women as an object. The depiction of women in the mass media is often stereotyped. One of the mass media that still stereotypes women is comics. Women are often portrayed as victims in the comics. There is a korean comics depicting a woman who is different from the general stereotype. In South Korea, comics published online and in print are called Manhwa. The Manhwa called Ebony, features a woman who has an ambitious, confident, courageous and feminist figure who breaks her country's patriarchal system for gender equality. This study aims to clarify how the representations of feminism on Ebony Manhwa in Kakaopage. This research used a descriptive qualitative research method using criticaI discourse anaIysis by Sara Mills. The resuIts of this study showed that there are two types of feminism represented in this Manhwa. There is Iiberal feminism, as shown by the resistance movement to achieve gender equality and women's rights, and post-modern feminism, as shown by women who are intellectual, strong, confident, brave and woman support woman. Abstract

The use of humor is very effective in getting people to pay attention to advertisements and creating awareness. Humor is one of the accessories that make advertising more interesting. This was done in the Joe Taslim x Fadil Jaidi Head & Shoulders advertisement. The purpose of this study was to find out whether exposure to Joe Taslim x Fadil Jaidi humor advertisements affected Brand Awareness of Head & Shoulder shampoo. This study used a quantitative explanatory research method using the S-O-R (Stimulus-Organism-Response) theory. Respondent data was obtained from 130 respondents aged 9-24 years who live in Denpasar City. The findings from this study indicated that there was an influence of exposure to the humorous advertising of Joe Taslim x Fadil Jaidi on Brand Awareness of Head & Shoulder shampoo in Denpasar City which was at a moderate level with a positive value of 0.527 with an r square of 27.8%

Abstract

‘The invasion of Ukraine by Russia’ at the end of February 2022 was enough to make the world uproar, this is certainly an interesting discussion for the media. This study aims to determine the Framing of news about the Russian lnvasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in CNN Live News using Robert N. Entman's Framing analysis. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data source is obtained from the news released by CNN on February 24, 2022, about the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. The news published on February 24, 2022, was 171 news, the researchers took randomly, the first 2 news released on February 24, 2022, and the last 3 news released on February 24, 2022, in every 5 news. This was done to avoid bias. The method used in this research is ‘‘Robert Entman's Framing’ analysis model which states that every media construct news must go through two stages, issue selection and aspect highlighting, after that, analyzing news with 4 stages, (1) define problems,-(2) diagnose causes,-(3) make moral judgments, and-(4) treatment recommendations. From the results of this study, CNN Live News does not frame its news in black and white. This is because, in its reporting, CNN only took Ukraine's point of view and interviewed sources who were pro-Ukraine, so it can be concluded that CNN framed Ukraine as a victim by providing news about Ukrainian citizens who panicked and also several major countries who spoke out, while Russia carried out attacks for no reason. Abstract

One of the information on social media that is still consumed by Indonesian people is SARA. In addition to being used to share photos or videos, Instagram is also a provider of news content which does little to discuss SARA. Equipped with a comment feature, audiences can express their opinions about the information they receive. This study aims to determine the reception of followers of the Instagram account @jurnaliskomik on SARA-based news content and classify them according to the three audience positions put forward by Stuart Hall. The type of research used is qualitative research with reception analysis theory. The results of this study indicate that there is a critical attitude of the audience which can be seen from the number of comments. Related to Stuart Hall's three audience positions, the writer finds that most of the audiences who provide comments are in a Dominant Hegemonic position. This is because the average @jurnaliskomik account followers have fanaticism towards the content produced by @jurnaliskomik.

Abstract

One of the women's clothing outlets that uses the TikTok application as a marketing medium is Modis Fashion Store, as evidenced by the TikTok account @Ceritamodisfashion which now has 2.1 million followers on the TikTok application. This study aims to determine the effect of Tik Tok @Ceritamodisfashion content in increasing Modis Fashion Store Brand Awareness among teenagers in the city of Denpasar. The results found in this study are 76.7% of the Fashion Store's Fashion Store Brand Awareness in teenagers in Denpasar, which is influenced by exposure to the video content of TikTok @Ceritamodisfashion. The remaining 23.3% is influenced by other variables outside of this study. However it has positive and significant . Keywords: Brand Awareness, Modis Fashion Store

Abstract

Mockumentary short animation film ‘Save Ralph’ is a campaign made by animal protection organizations and charity fundraiser, Humane Society International. This campaign film raised the issue of cosmetic animal testing represented as signs in every scene that contains messages. This study aims to analyze the messages from ‘Save Ralph’ as a cruelty-free campaign media. This study uses Charles Sanders Peirce’s analytical semiotic theory by examining the signs as representamen, object, and interpretant. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods, using a constructive paradigm. Primary data were obtained from this study's object, based on its scenes. The result of this study shows the meaning contained in ‘Save Ralph’ is to encourage the cosmetic animal testing free represented by the negative impacts experienced by animals as the victim of cosmetic testing.

Abstract

The 2024 presidential election contest is deemed to have numerous violations and fraud. This has attracted the attention of the public and the mass media, especially Tempo Magazine. The magazine, known for its characteristic illustrated covers in every issue with various characters and visual styles that often become controversial, is the subject of this study. This research aims to uncover the meaning behind the cover of Tempo Magazine's February 18-25, 2024 edition titled "Stains of a Single Round." The study employs a qualitative approach with descriptive interpretive analysis. Data collection techniques in this research include observation and documentation. The method used is visual semiotics with Roland Barthes' semiotics model encompassing denotation, connotation, and myth. The results of this study identify that the fraud committed by Prabowo Subianto's camp can tarnish democracy and develop into an ideology in society, where everything can be done to achieve victory, including dishonest methods. The power obtained through such fraudulent processes can be perceived as something that everyone is entitled to without shame.
