Abstract

Stress is a state of physical and psychological tension that can disrupt both mental and physical health. According to the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), approximately 19 million adolescents in Indonesia experienced mental health disorders. Stress is commonly defined as a process in which individuals evaluate an event as a threat, challenge, or danger. This study aimed to examine the relationship between coping mechanisms and stress levels among adolescents experiencing parental conflict at SMK Negeri 3 Bekasi City. A quantitative method was used to describe phenomena based on collected data. The study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach to assess the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 216 adolescents aged 15–18 years using a simple random sampling technique. The results of the Pearson Chi-Square test revealed a significant relationship between coping mechanisms and stress levels (p = 0.000). This finding indicates that coping mechanisms are strongly associated with adolescent stress in the context of parental conflict. These results may serve as a reference for educators, parents, and adolescents to better understand the importance of adaptive coping strategies in managing stress caused by family conflicts.

Abstract

The rising prevalence of diabetes mellitus as a major chronic disease poses a significant global health concern, particularly due to its potential complications such as diabetic foot ulcers. Adequate knowledge of diabetes is essential to promote effective preventive behaviors. This study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge and preventive behaviors toward diabetic foot ulcers among diabetes mellitus patients at UPTD Pengasinan Public Health Center, Bekasi City. A descriptive analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted, involving 82 respondents selected from a population of 100 using Slovin’s formula. A simple random sampling technique was applied, and data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and diabetic foot ulcer prevention behavior, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) based on the Chi-Square test. Most respondents were aged 31–45 years, predominantly female, had been living with diabetes for more than five years, held a high school education, and were mostly unemployed. Univariate analysis indicated that the majority of patients had good knowledge and fairly good preventive behaviors. These findings highlight the importance of patient education in the prevention of diabetic foot complications.

Abstract

One of the leading causes of death in Indonesia—such as cardiac arrest—requires rapid intervention through Basic Life Support (BLS). Cardiac arrest can occur at any time and may be fatal if not addressed immediately. BLS is a fundamental skill that everyone should possess, as it plays a critical role in increasing the chances of survival in life-threatening situations. Many cardiac arrest cases happen outside of medical settings, known as Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA). This study aimed to assess the effect of BLS education on the knowledge of Youth Red Cross (PMR) members at SMAN 12 Bekasi City, considering the observed lack of BLS knowledge among members. A quantitative method with a pre-experimental design was applied, using a one-group pre-test post-test approach. The study involved all 59 PMR members through total sampling. Data analysis using a paired sample t-test showed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected. The findings confirm that BLS education had a significant positive effect on the participants’ knowledge levels. The study concluded that there was a notable increase in BLS knowledge among PMR members after the educational intervention.
