Abstract

Language is one of the main reflections of a person's personality. Through language, abstract thoughts that occur in the human brain can be expressed and understood by other people. The thought process embodied in words and language can influence actions, behavior, habits, and ultimately shape a person's character. The method for writing this article is qualitative with a literature study approach. Character formed from good habits will bring success and prosperity, while bad character will lead to failure. Language and culture have a close relationship and influence each other. Language is a part of culture that functions as a means of communication and a means of cultural development. Language speakers develop vocabulary and ways of speaking according to their experiences and cultural values. Therefore, language reflects not only individual personality, but also the cultural identity of society. The relationship between language, behavior and culture attracts the attention of many experts from various scientific disciplines. Some views view language as a subordinate part of culture, while others consider language and culture to have an equal coordinative relationship. In this context, language not only influences the way of thinking and acting, but also reflects the values and norms that apply in society. The influence of globalization on local languages and culture is also a concern. Even though there are concerns about the extinction of regional languages, such as Javanese, the enthusiasm to preserve and develop local languages and culture remains strong. Awareness of the importance of language as a means of communication and cultural identity must be increased to face the challenges of globalization. In conclusion, language structure can influence the structure of perception and behavior, and vice versa. Therefore, an in-depth study of the relationship between language, behavior and culture is needed to ensure the continuity and development of local culture amidst global cultural influences.

Abstract

Plastic remains dominant in everyday life in Indonesia, favored for its affordability and long-lasting properties. However, the negative impact is seen through non-biodegradable plastic waste which damages the environment and causes the transfer of toxic compounds. Various efforts to deal with plastic waste, such as burning and burial, produce new problems. The lack of public knowledge and awareness highlights the importance of education in managing plastic waste. This research aims to reveal the situation of plastic waste processing, with a theoretical review of previous research, literature study methodology, and the potential for creativity in managing plastic waste. The research method uses literature study and observation techniques to collect information. The result of this research is a product created with economic value from plastic waste. Apart from reducing plastic waste, these creative products can also increase people's income, because the products produced can be sold at high prices.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the potential and challenges of utilizing Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in Medan City, which is geographically located near the equator and receives high exposure to sunlight throughout the year. The method used is a literature review with a narrative review approach that analyzes secondary data from various journals and relevant scientific articles. The results of the study show that Medan City has an average annual horizontal global solar radiation intensity of 463.61 W/m², with the potential for electrical power that can be generated from rooftop solar panels reaching 748.57 MW (monocrystalline), 598.85 MW (polycrystalline), and 299.43 MW (thin film). This potential is comparable to the capacity of large-scale power plants. The use of PLTS contributes to reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy security, creating jobs, and developing the local economy. However, challenges such as high installation costs, limited suitability of roof structures, and low public awareness are still major obstacles in the implementation of this technology. Therefore, synergy is needed between government policies, public education, and technological innovation to optimize the use of solar energy in urban areas such as Medan.

Abstract

Lake Singkarak is a tectonic lake that plays a vital role in supporting the economic life of the surrounding community, especially traditional fishermen in Nagari Sumpur. However, pressure on the ecosystem and the decline in the population of bilih fish pose a threat to the sustainability of fishermen's livelihoods. This study aims to analyze the form of community empowerment carried out and its impact on improving the fishermen's economy. The study was conducted through a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that although an empowerment program had been carried out through assistance with fishing gear and PAP funds, its sustainability was not well maintained. Fishermen's income has not shown a significant increase, and tourism development has not fully touched their welfare. A more integrated strategy is needed between the fisheries and tourism sectors to realize sustainable empowerment.
