Abstract

This research aims to calculate the amount of fuel in the multi-fuel boiler unit at PT Toba Pulp Lestari, Tbk. A boiler is a closed steam boiler, and the heat of combustion is transmitted to the water until it becomes hot steaming water or steam. In the work process, it is necessary to calculate the total fired and moisture to determine the efficient level of maturity for each unit. In this research, the author found that the energy needed to evaporate water in fuel up to 0% was Palm Caul 2303.67 kcal/kg, Palm Shell 3833.25 kcal/kg, and Bark 1513.69 kcal/kg. The energy used in the Multi Fuel Boiler requires Palm Caul 186,688.4 kg/hour, Palm sheel 97,683.6 kg/hour, and Bark 181,508.9 kg/hour.

Abstract

PT. KPBN Belawan is a company branch entrusted as an agent for buying and selling CPO (Crude Palm Oil). PT. KPBN Belawan operates a tank storage unit that temporarily stores CPO before selling it to customers. Regular inspections are necessary for the storage tanks, such as checking the thickness of the tank plates and ensuring the strength of the locking mechanisms on the shell central hole to prevent leaks during filling. This research aims to calculate the dimensions of the bottom cover of the storage tank (central hole), which serves as a seal for the CPO in a storage tank with a capacity of 5,000 liters. The calculated dimensions for the shell central hole are as follows: the nominal diameter of the shell maintenance hole bolts is 17.5 mm, the flange width is 40.25 mm, the outer diameter of the flange shell maintenance hole is 913.6 mm, the bolt circle diameter of the flange shell central hole is 887 mm, the inner diameter of the flange shell central hole is 869.5 mm, the number of bolts is 24, the flange thickness is 18 mm, and the bolt spacing of the flange shell mainhole is 115.77 mm.

Abstract

Pegas merupakan sebuah elemen fleksibel yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan gaya atau torsi dan pada saat yang sama menyimpan energi. Pada vibrating screen, pegas ulir tekan digunakan sebagai pendistribusian gaya yang dihasilkan oleh getaran bandul. Getaran bandul pada vibrating screen memberikan beban siklik (berulang) terhadap pegas, yang mengakibatkan pegas mengalami kelelahan pada sifat elastisitasnya secara berkala. Kelelahan yang terjadi pada pegas merupakan faktor penyebab berkurangnya effisiensi berdasarkan kuantitas. Karena pegas dapat mengalami kelelahan maka haruslah diperhitungkan kekuatan lelah (fatigue) pegas yang akan digunakan, guna menghindari terjadinya kerusakan pada pegas. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian kelelahan pada pegas ulir tekan dengan bahan baja Carbon AISI 1045 dengan kategori baja Carbon menengah menggunakan alat uji mesin rotary bending. Pada pengujian kelelahan menggunakan beban 20 Kg (I), 30 Kg (II), dan 40 Kg (III) besarnya tegangan lentur (σl) pada bahan uji I, II, dan III adalah 101,92 Mpa, 152,88 Mpa, dan 203,84 Mpa. Besarnya tegangan patah (σB) pada bahan uji I, II, dan III adalah 28,30 Kg/mm2, 42,46 Kg/mm2, dan 56,61 Kg/mm2. Waktu yang dibutuhkan pada bahan uji I, II, dan III adalah 78,40 menit, 5,59 menit, dan 1 menit. Siklus yang yang terjadi pada bahan uji I, II, dan III adalah 73829 putaran, 5612 putaran, dan 938 putaran.

Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. Hutahaean will analyze the causes of unstable blade rotational speed due to speed droop during the sweet potato chopping process at the cutting station. The cutting machine has eight blades to chop sweet potatoes into smaller pieces before further processing. Observations revealed several key factors causing the instability in blade speed, including electrical voltage fluctuations, wear on the drive motor, improper calibration, and debris buildup around machine components. The calculation results showed that the speed droop in blade rotation reached 5%, contributing to decreased production efficiency. Routine maintenance of machine components and adjustment of settings are recommended to address these issues.

Abstract

This study aimed to calculate the volume of air required by a blower to transfer tapioca flour from the dryer unit to the shifter unit in a factory with a production capacity of 35 tons per day. The flour transfer process utilizes a blower to generate sufficient airflow. Still, it often experiences instability caused by factors such as blower speed fluctuations, material load variations, and pipe blockages. The research was conducted over one month using data collection methods that included interviews and direct observation. Analysis results showed that the cross-sectional area of the blower pipe was 0.6358 m², the airflow velocity was 1.517 m/s, and the airflow rate reached 0.965 m³/s. The total air volume required by the blower to move the flour was calculated to be 27,792 m³ per day. The findings highlight the importance of properly regulating and maintaining the blower system to ensure efficiency in tapioca flour production.

Abstract

The application of Occupational Safety and health (K3) is very important in the work environment because it is closely related to the risk of accidents, safety and health when carrying out work. Various efforts have been made by the Tenera machinery factory (PMT) PTPN IV to minimize work accidents and diseases caused by work by installing warning signs, the use of complete personal protective equipment (PPE), providing good nutrition and regular health checks. However, the lack of awareness of K3 is still found in PMT PTPN IV Dolok Ilir workers. This can be seen from the still finding of minor work accidents and occupational health effects shown from the results of employee health reports. The methods used in this service activity are socialization, training, discussion on the basics of K3 welding for employees of PMT PTPN IV, so that factory employees are able to identify potential hazards that can occur in the workplace and accident prevention measures. The results of the socialization and training of welding K3 activities that have been carried out are expected to increase employee awareness of the importance of K3. So that the company is able to maintain the zero accident predicate.
