Abstract

ZnO yang memiliki stabilitas kimia serta energi thermal yang tinggi merupakan material non magnetik dan ion Ni yang merupakan salah satu golongan transisi metal yang memiliki sifat magnetik. Kombinasi antara ion Zn2+ dan ion Ni2+ akan menghasilkan material ferromagnetik serta mengakibatkan munculnya perubahan karakteristik listrik dan magnetik. Zn1-xNixO (x =0, 0.01, 0.03 dan 0.05) telah disintesis dengan menggunakan teknik Solid-state reaction. Serbuk ZnO dan NiO dimixer dan di miling dengan menggunakan high speed shaker mill. Pengaruh dari dopan Ni terhadap sifat listrik dan magnetik telah diinvestigasi dengan menggunakan I-V dan C-V serta VSM. Pengukuran  resistivitas, konduktivitas dan konstanta dielektrik dengan menggunakan I-V dan C-V meter, diperoleh resistivitas sampel Zn1-xNixO(x = 0, 0.01, 0.03 dan 0.05) sebesar (3.44 x 105 ohm.m, 3.54 x 105 ohm.m, 3.91 x 105 ohm.m dan 4.80 x 105 ohm.m) . Resistansi yang naik mengindikasikan bahwa perbedaan antara jari-jari ion Zn2+ dan ion Ni2+ menyebabkan internal stress pada sistem kisi ZnO yang sehingga mengakibatkan cacat pada batas butir (grain boundaries). Konstanta dielektrik sampel Zn1-xNixO(x = 0, 0.01, 0.03 dan 0.05) sebesar (13, 28.36, 34.81 dan 47.55). Konstanta dielektrik yang meningkat diakibatkan karena dengan meningkatnya komposisi dopan, yang diindikasikan Ni2+ dapat menempati posisi pada pusat Zn2+, yang mengarah ke daerah dipol listrik permanen yang menunjukkan perilaku dielektrik. Hasil karakterisasi VSM untuk melihat sifat magnet sampel  Zn1-xNixO menunjukkan sifat ferromagnetik pada seluruh sampel.

Abstract

Energi panas surya dapat di jadikan sumber energi yang sangat besar dan dapat di jadikan menjadi salah satu sumber energi alternatif guna menggantikan energi listrik dan minyak bumi. Salah satu bentuk pemanfaatan dari energi surya adalah untuk memanaskan air. Pada penelitian pemanfaatan energi radiasi surya dikumpulkan melalui suatu alat yang disebut kolektor surya. Untuk mengoptimalkan pengumpulan energi radiasi surya, permukaan kolektor surya di cat dengan warna hitam kusam (doff) yang berfungsi untuk menyerap dengan maksimal intensitas radiasi surya yang datang dan mentransfer kalor yang diterima tersebut ke fluida kerja. Penelitian ini menganalisa kemampuan kolektor yang dicat dengan cat biasa juga cat yang divariasikan dengan paintfiller cangkang kelapa sawit yang dicatkan pada kotak kolektor. Berdasarkan hasil analisa diperoleh bahwa bahwa selain cat hitam, cat hitam yang divariasikan dengan cangkang kelapa sawit juga dapat digunakan sebagai pelapis pada kolektor pemanas air dengan koefisien konveksi sebesar 0,3084 - 0,3133 W/m2.0C dan efisiensi kolektor 27,64% - 33,00% dengan kalor pemanas air 57637,29 - 72049,40 Joule.

Abstract

The recent application of palm empty fruit bunches as solid waste directly on soil or as organic fertilizer has enhanced palm farms. Moreover, the co-products of this palm oil mill constitute a dependable metric for assessing mill processing performance, specifically regarding quantity and weight. The quantity of palm empty fruit bunches is usually ascertained through manual counting using a hand counter during processing. The imprecision in calculating palm empty fruit bunches is a limitation of this method, as operators sometimes perform erroneous calculations, overlook quantities, and produce contradictory results for mill management. To address this issue, the sector requires enhanced execution of a monitoring and counting system methodology. The aim of this community service project is to create an empty fruit bunches count station using an IoTbased palm solid waste counting system for use in palm mills. The Ministry of Industry - Politeknik Teknologi Kimia Industri (PTKI) Medan will engage in and oversee the advancement of Industry 4.0 within the industrial sector. The initiative was executed at Tanah Gambus Estate in Batubara Regency, North Sumatra. Assistance was provided by a palm mill partner associated with PT. Socfin Indonesia. The implementation of the empty fruit bunches palm oil counting system was conducted efficiently, facilitating optimal operations, real–time online monitoring, uninterrupted functionality exceeding 24 hours daily, swift assessment of the empty fruit bunches volume, immediate identification of traditional counting inaccuracies by operators and management, and its station provides benefits to the palm industry.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on the radiation shielding capability of coir fiber composite boards to determine the extent of neutron radiation absorption as it passes through the created radiation shield. This study aims to ascertain whether coir fiber can be used as a filler in the production of radiation shields. Initial analysis was conducted using SEM-EDX, FTIR, and XRD testing. The results indicated that the primary component of coir fiber is carbon at 70.68%, which is structured in chemical bonds of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Additionally, coir fiber retains a crystalline region observed at the peak of 2θ=22.4°, with a crystallinity degree of 35.46%, suggesting its potential for neutron radiation absorption. After fabricating the composite board, it was tested using the Neutron Activation Analysis method to evaluate its neutron radiation absorption capability. The analysis results showed that the absorption capacity of the composite board at a fiber mass fraction of 2.0 g ranged from 59.4 to 97.8%; at 3.0 g from 64.3 to 98.3%; and at 4.0 g from 73.5 to 99.3%. The linear attenuation coefficients (µ) for each coir fiber fraction were found to be 3.84; 4.13; and 4.80/cm, with half-value layers of 0.18; 0.17; and 0.14 cm, respectively, demonstrating that coir fiber can be utilized as a filler for neutron radiation shielding.

Abstract

The application of Occupational Safety and health (K3) is very important in the work environment because it is closely related to the risk of accidents, safety and health when carrying out work. Various efforts have been made by the Tenera machinery factory (PMT) PTPN IV to minimize work accidents and diseases caused by work by installing warning signs, the use of complete personal protective equipment (PPE), providing good nutrition and regular health checks. However, the lack of awareness of K3 is still found in PMT PTPN IV Dolok Ilir workers. This can be seen from the still finding of minor work accidents and occupational health effects shown from the results of employee health reports. The methods used in this service activity are socialization, training, discussion on the basics of K3 welding for employees of PMT PTPN IV, so that factory employees are able to identify potential hazards that can occur in the workplace and accident prevention measures. The results of the socialization and training of welding K3 activities that have been carried out are expected to increase employee awareness of the importance of K3. So that the company is able to maintain the zero accident predicate.
