Abstract

Emergency services require nurses with the ability to respond quickly, accurately, and according to standards in handling trauma and cardiac arrest. One way to increase capacity is through Basic Trauma Cardiac Life Support (BTCLS) training. This community service program aims to improve nurses' skills and knowledge in handling emergency situations through BTCLS training. The implementation method uses a participatory-educational approach that includes preparation, pre-tests, theoretical presentations, skills demonstrations, case simulations, hands-on practice, and post-tests. The number of participants in the activity was 32 nurses from healthcare facilities. Evaluation was conducted by measuring knowledge and observing participants' skills before and after the training. The results of the activity showed that the average knowledge score of participants increased from 52.4 to 86.7 after the training. In addition, participants' skills in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management, triage, and trauma management showed significant improvements. Participants also showed increased confidence when facing emergency situations. BTCLS training has been proven to be successful in improving nurses' abilities in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This program is expected to be implemented continuously as part of improving the quality of health services and patient safety

Abstract

Leadership competence is one of the essential competencies that nurses must possess to effectively manage nursing services and improve the quality of patient care. However, many nurses still encounter challenges in decision-making, communication, team management, and problem-solving within clinical settings. Therefore, leadership training based on clinical practice is needed to strengthen nurses' leadership capacity. This community service program aimed to improve nurses' leadership competencies in nursing service management through clinical practice-based leadership training. The program was conducted using a participatory approach involving 40 nurses from a regional hospital. Activities included needs assessment, preparation, implementation of leadership training, simulation, case discussions, mentoring, and evaluation. Participants' knowledge was measured using pre-test and post-test assessments. The average pre-test score was 63.5, which increased to 86.8 in the post-test, indicating an improvement of 23.3 points. Participants demonstrated enhanced understanding of transformational leadership, effective communication, conflict management, delegation, and clinical decision-making. Increased confidence and leadership initiative were also observed among participants. Clinical practice-based leadership training effectively improved nurses' leadership competencies in managing nursing services. Similar programs should be implemented regularly to support professional nursing development and healthcare service quality improvement.

Abstract

Toddlerhood represents a critical period that determines children's growth and developmental outcomes. Early detection of growth and developmental disorders through the Early Stimulation, Detection, and Intervention for Child Growth and Development (SDIDTK) program is an essential strategy for preventing stunting and developmental delays. However, the capacity of parents and Posyandu (Integrated Health Service Post) cadres to perform standardized screening remains suboptimal. This community service program aimed to optimize the roles of parents and Posyandu cadres through standardized SDIDTK-based training on toddler growth and development screening. The program employed a participatory health education and training approach consisting of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, interactive discussions, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test assessments. The activity was conducted on July 14, 2026, at a Posyandu within the service area of a Community Health Center in South Jakarta and involved 17 participants, including eight Posyandu cadres and nine parents of toddlers. The evaluation demonstrated an increase in the mean knowledge score from 55.3 before the training to 83.5 after the training, representing an improvement of 28.2 points. Overall, 94.1% of participants achieved higher post-test scores. These findings indicate that standardized SDIDTK-based training effectively improved participants' knowledge and practical skills in conducting toddler growth and development screening. This program is expected to strengthen the implementation of SDIDTK at Posyandu, improve family health literacy, facilitate early identification of growth and developmental problems, and support sustainable community-based stunting prevention efforts.
