Abstract

The lactation period is a natural process that occurs in mothers who have already given birth. During this period, it is not easy for mothers, as they need to have good knowledge in the process of providing exclusive breastfeeding. The high-quality protein and nutrition in maternal milk are crucial for providing newborn babies aged 0-6 months. According to data from the Ministry of Health (MoH), the prevalence of mothers who provide exclusive breastfeeding to their babies during the first few months decreased from 62.3% in 2013 to 50.2% in 2016, then increased to 64.2% in 2020. Meanwhile, the prevalence of babies consuming formula milk decreased from 50% in 2016 to 32.1% in 2020. This research aims to identify the factors influencing mothers to provide exclusive breastfeeding to babies aged 0-6 months at the Becora Community Health Center in Dili, in the year 2023. The researcher employs an analytical quantitative method with a cross-sectional study approach for this research. The bivariate analysis results show an influence between knowledge and the provision of exclusive breastfeeding based on the Chi-Square statistical analysis with a p-value of 0.00<0.05, and the Kendall's tau-b analysis indicates a result of 0.69, suggesting a strong influence between maternal knowledge and the provision of exclusive breastfeeding to babies. The Chi-Square statistical analysis results between maternal attitude and the provision of exclusive breastfeeding indicate a p-value of 0.05<0.05, and the contingency coefficient analysis shows a result of 0.21, suggesting a weaker influence between maternal attitude and the provision of exclusive breastfeeding. There is a strong influence between maternal knowledge and the provision of exclusive breastfeeding, and there is also a weaker influence between maternal attitude and the provision of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Introduction: Stockouts of vital medicines remain a critical issue in hospitals, particularly when drug availability drops to zero in pharmacy facilities. Although supplies may still exist elsewhere, it often takes up to a week for replenishment, potentially jeopardizing patient care. The "vital" category includes life-saving drugs whose unavailability is unacceptable. In Timor-Leste, stockout rates reported by the Ministry of Health were 20% in 2020, 22% in 2021, 19% in 2022, and rose sharply to 43% in 2023. Objective: This study aims to identify the factors contributing to stockouts of vital medicines at the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV) Pharmacy Facility. Method: One of the methods used in this research is a quantitative analytical approach with a cross-sectional study design. The sampling technique employed is probability sampling, which approximates the total sample. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS program to perform a Spearman Rank Correlation. Result and Discussion: Results revealed that human resources (p = 0.00, r = 0.416), medicine management (p = 0.00, r = 0.472), and patient volume (p = 0.00, r = 0.600) significantly influence stockouts. Conclusion: To eliminate the problem of stockouts in Timor-Leste, health professionals must pay attention to the factors influencing stockouts. Additionally, professional medication control services should plan medication purchases before supplies run out.

Objective: The purpose of the research is to identify the student’s anxiety level about elaboration of final course work for the student 5th year at the School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the National University Timor-Lorosa’e in the year 2024. Method: Research type is a descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach and technical probability sampling with Simple Random Sampling type. Result and Discussion: Research result indicated that majority the elaboration of final course work for the student mostly with poor elaboration category 29 (44%) and anxiety level mostly with severe category 25 (38%). The population for this research is 5th year students at the Higher School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the National University Timor-Lorosa’e and the sample for this research is a total of 66 students. Data analysis used SPSS program to analyze the elaboration of final course work and the level of anxiety. Conclusion: The elaboration of final course work for student is in poor elaboration and the anxiety is in the severe level.
