Abstract

This article will elaborate in detail on Orientalism from a historical perspective. The study of Orientalism is complex, especially concerning the Orient, particularly Islam, and is driven by motives such as religious, scientific, economic, and political issues. The terms "Orientalism" and "Orientalist" emerged in Andalusia (Spain) in the 7th century Hijri or the 14th century AD. They have harmed Islam by submerging Muslims into misleading ideologies, particularly misleading the younger generation by diverting them from their religion through teachings of materialism and secularism. The stages of Orientalism development include Missionaries and anti-Islamic sentiments beginning in the 16th century AD, studies and dissemination in the 17th and 18th centuries, colonialism in the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century, and learning and politics in the latter half of the 19th century. The main goal of Orientalism is to uncover and reveal the symbolic meanings of deep-rooted Islamic cultural expressions, with the primary medium being the Arabic language.

Abstract

A long time ago, some cultures had social hierarchies that placed women on a lower level than men. They often have limited access to education and are rarely involved in political affairs or important decisions in society. However, with the advent of Islam, great attention was paid to women and they were given high dignity. In Islam, women are considered partners for men in carrying out the responsibilities of life. Allah affirms that women are men's companions in carrying out the role of caliph in this world. The purpose of this paper is to explore the rights and status of women in modern society, as well as to counter traditional ideas that are still influential from past cultures, both in the social, cultural, and political spheres. Thus, this study includes an analysis of the position and rights of women according to an Islamic perspective.

Abstract

Imam Al-Ghazali, a great figure in the history of Islamic thought, made important contributions to understanding the concept of the soul. In his works, especially Ihya' Ulum al-Din, Ghazali describes the soul as an entity that is not only physical, but also has deep moral and spiritual dimensions. This research aims to examine the concept of the soul according to Imam Ghazali, with a focus on the division of the soul into three parts: rational soul, natural soul, and physical soul, as well as the relevance of Ghazali's teachings in modern life. The method used in this research is library research with a qualitative approach. The research results show that the rational soul plays a role as a controller that directs the physical and physical souls, and the importance of tazkiyah al-nafs or purification of the soul to achieve inner happiness and closeness to God. Ghazali's thinking remains relevant in an increasingly materialistic modern world, providing guidance for achieving balance between rational, emotional and spiritual dimensions. Thus, the concept of the soul according to Ghazali not only provides theological understanding, but also becomes a moral and ethical guide in everyday life.

Abstract

Majlis Taklim is a non-formal religious educational institution that plays an important role in the spiritual and social development of the community. However, in Kunti Village, Andong District, Boyolali Regency, the management of the majlis taklim is still carried out traditionally, without a structured institutional management system. The Community Partnership Program (PKM) activity aims to empower and improve the capacity of the majlis taklim administrators through organizational management training, work program preparation, and institutional assistance. The method used is a participatory and educational approach, which actively involves the community in every stage of the activity. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the ability of the majlis taklim administrators to manage programs and administration independently and professionally. The outputs of the activity include work program documents, an organized organizational structure, activity SOPs, and training modules. The evaluation showed a high level of satisfaction from participants, and there were indications of sustainability through the formation of local teams and support from external partners. This PKM makes a real contribution to strengthening community-based religious institutions and has the potential to be replicated in other areas.
