Abstract

This article examines the concept of knowledge in Islam from an Islamic worldview perspective that offers a holistic and integrative approach. In Islam, knowledge not only functions as a means of understanding the world, but also as a form of worship that brings oneself closer to Allah and contributes to the benefit of the people. Integration between science and ethical values is an important basis for responding to the moral and spiritual crisis faced by modern science. This article also highlights the importance of education based on an Islamic worldview and the application of Islamic values in the development of knowledge as a strategic effort to build a sustainable and ethical civilization. By using the Islamic worldview as a guide, knowledge not only provides material benefits but also blessings for humanity and the universe. This research aims to emphasize the relevance of the concept of science in Islam in facing the challenges of modern science, while at the same time contributing to the development of a civilization based on Islamic values.

Abstract

The theory of student development has become an important study in the world of education. Three main theories, namely nativism, empiricism, and convergence, offer different perspectives in understanding the factors that influence student learning and growth. Nativism emphasizes that individual development is more influenced by innate factors, while empiricism assumes that experience and environment are the main factors in learning. Convergence theory tries to combine these two views, by emphasizing the interaction between genetic and environmental factors in the educational process. This research aims to analyze the extent to which these three theories are still relevant in the context of modern education. Although convergence is becoming a more widely accepted approach, there is still a research gap regarding how innate and environmental factors interact specifically in the learning process, especially with current technological developments.

Abstract

Indonesia’s National Awakening, marked by the founding of Budi Utomo in 1908, was a pivotal moment in the emergence of a collective national consciousness, in which education served as the main driver of intellectual formation, national awareness, and the spirit of unity. This article aims to examine the role of education in Indonesia’s National Awakening and its relevance in contemporary educational contexts. The study employs a qualitative approach with a library research method, using books, journal articles, and education policy documents related to the themes of the National Awakening and education as data sources. The data were analyzed thematically to identify the role of education in the history of the national movement, the values it fostered, and their implications for current educational practice. The review shows that education during the National Awakening functioned as a means of liberation, social transformation, and nation-building through the internalization of values such as nationalism, unity, self-reliance, and gotong royong. These values remain relevant in addressing the challenges of globalization and digital technological development, particularly in strengthening character and citizenship in both physical and digital spaces. The article concludes that reinforcing education grounded in the values of the National Awakening is essential for safeguarding national identity and nurturing a generation of citizens who are critical, of strong character, and responsible in the modern era.
