Abstract

This study was conducted to find out whether pronunciation is the most important problem in students' speaking and what factors affect students' pronunciation the most. This research has been completed at SMP N 4 Gunung Talang. This research was conducted because students pronounce sentences according to what is written, students do not pay attention to the teacher when learning takes place, and students feel embarrassed when pronouncing sentences in English. This research is a quantitative research with purposive sampling method with a sample size of 30 people. To collect research data, researcher used documents and questionnaires. In analyzing the data, the researcher analyzed the results of the assessment of the four aspects of student speaking and calculating mean score, for the research questionnaire was calculated using the percentage formula and Likert scale formula. From the results of the analysis of the four aspects of speaking namely pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and fluency it was found that, pronunciation aspect was the lowest score. And from the results of the questionnaire analysis it was found that native language was the dominant factor that most influenced students' pronunciation. The findings of this study contain two findings, the first is that pronunciation is the main problem in students' speaking assessment, and identity and language ego is the factor that most affects students' pronunciation with percentage 79, 96%.

Abstract

This Research was done due to several problems found: Students ability in reading were low, lack of interesting in reading, and students were difficult to comprehend the text. Anticipation Reaction Guide strategy is related to this problem because the Anticipation Reaction Guide is enabled strategy to help the students who may hold misconceptions regarding a specific concept based on the lesson in reading. Therefore, this research was to investigate the effect of using Anticipation Reaction Guide Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension. This research used quantitative method with quasi-experimental design by comparing two classes. The researcher used a cluster sampling technique because teacher recomendation and these class have similar characteristics. The total sample was 53 students of VIII 1 and VIII 2. The researcher used multiple test wich consisted of pre test and post test were applied in collect the data. Based on the data analysis used T- test Formula. The result from post test both of classes, it was t-obtained (2.73) was higher than the t-table (2.009). So it means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted while the null hypotesis (Ho) was rejected. So, it means that using anticipation-reaction guide strategy can help students to increase their reading comprehension.

Abstract

Some of the problems in students' mastery of vocabulary are very diverse, ranging from errors in spelling, pronunciation, and choosing the right words in writing and speaking. This research aims to analyze the increase in vocabulary mastery of students in class VIII at MTs HUBBUL WATHAN TABUYUNG, through the use of wordwall learning media. This research is classroom action research. The subjects of this research were 24 class VIII students, the data collection technique was in the form of tests. The average student score before using wordwall media was 73.00. The results of data analysis show that the average score of students' vocabulary tests in cycle I was 98.75 and the average score of students' vocabulary tests in cycle II was 99.5. Cycle II experienced an increase of 26.5 from the average student score before using wordwall media. So it can be concluded that student learning outcomes in vocabulary mastery through the use of wordwall media in class VIII MTs HUBBUL WATHAN TABUYUNG students have increased. This research hopes that English teachers will use wordwall learning media because it can improve students' vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik anagram terhadap kosakata siswa di kelas dua SMPN 2 X Koto. Hal tersebut dilakukan di SMPN 2 X Koto dikarenakan siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam mengingat kosakata. Keterbatasan sumber dalam materi pembelajaran. Akibatnya, peneliti juga menemukan kosakata siswa terbatas. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian eksperimen. Untuk menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan normalitas dan homogenitas dengan menggunakan SPSS 26 untuk menguji hipotesis, peneliti menggunakan rumus t-test dan mengkonsultasikan hasilnya ke dalam t-tabel untuk hipotesis pertama, kedua dan ketiga.

Abstract

This research was due to by several problems of students’ in the first grade in SMP N 3 Sungai Pua related to students’ achievement in English learning especially in lesson simple present tense and simple past tense. This research to determine whether there was a significant effect and whether there was significant difference using the Noticing technique on students’ achievement in lesson simple present tense and simple past tense and to determine whether students’ achievement using the noticing technique was the best than not using the noticing technique. This study was classified as a quasi-Experiment design. There was experimental group, namely the VII.B class (19 students’) and the control group namely VII.A (20 students’). Data obtained through pre-test and post-test . Pre- test was given to both groups before treatment and post-test was given after treatment.Treatment using the noticing technique was only given to the experimental group. After the data was collected, the researcher analyzed the data with a significant of α = 0,05. From the results of statistical analysis, the first hypothesis was obtained; there was a significant effect using the noticing technique on students' achievement in simple present tense and simple past tense lesson. The analyzes of the data showed that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted because tobtained (26,46) was higher than ttable (20,93) with the level significant α of 0,05. The second hypothesis there was a significant difference using noticing technique on teaching simple present tense and simple past tense. The analyzes of the data showed that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted because tobtained (50,13) was higher than ttable (20,86) with the level significant of α 0.05. Finally, the third hypothesis that teaching simple present tense and simple past tense for the students who were taught by using noticing technique better than the students who were taught conventional method toward student’s achievement . The analyzes of the data showed that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted because tobtained (50,13) was higher than ttable (20,86) with the significant of α 0,05. In this manner, it may well be conclude that the noticing technique seem influenced for understandies accomplishment in learning simple present tense and simple past tense to be way better than without utilizing the taking noticing technique.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the students’ perception of school literacy program. The design of this research was descriptive quantitative research by using Survey method. The instrument of this research was questionnaire to know the perception of students toward the school literacy program. The population of this research was all of the eleventh grade students of SMKN 1 Bukittinggi which consisted of 7 majors and 587 students. The sample was all of the population because this research was using total sampling technique. The research was carried out in December 2020. The instrument validity test was carried out by using expert validity to three experts as instrument validators and to analyze the data was done by identifying the responses, counting the percentages of each indicator and taking the conclusion. The results of the research showed that the average score of the habituation stage of school literacy program was 78,07% which was good perception. The average score of the development stage of school literacy program was 78,22% which was good perception. The last, the average score of the learning stage of school literacy program was 78,66% which was good perception. It can be concluded, the average mean of students’ perception toward the implementation of school literacy program was 78,30% which was in good category in the rating interpretation 60%-79,99%.
