Abstract

Improvements in logistics facilities and infrastructure have increased the volume of world trade transportation. On the other hand, increased trade transportation activities may have the potential to reduce environmental quality through emissions. Therefore, this study analyzes the relationship between logistics performance and environmental quality, which is approached by using the ecological footprint. Using a quantitative approach, this study employs panel data regression with a fixed effect model on data from 17 APEC member economies over the period 2010–2022. A robustness check is also conducted using quantile regression to evaluate the consistency of results across different data distribution quartiles..  The results of panel data regression with fixed effect model show that Logistic Performance Index (LPI) has a positive and significant effect on ecological footprint. These findings have important implications for sustainable development policy. Efforts to reduce environmental impact should focus on improving logistics performance in a sustainable manner that mitigates its impact to environmentally unfriendly economic growth.

Abstract

MSMEs have a central role in boosting Jakarta's economy, so policies that support competitiveness and productivity need to be prioritized. This study assesses the effectiveness of the New Industrial Entrepreneurship Program (WUIB) which is part of the Integrated Entrepreneurship Development (PKT). Referring to the theory of production function, this study designed a quasi-experimental approach using Propensity Score Matching on thousands of business actors in the culinary and craft/fashion sectors to compare recipients of the WUIB program who received production facilities accompanied by technical training with non-recipient business actors. The results of empirical analysis show that facility recipients experience a significant increase in turnover of Rp10-16 million per year. This effect is consistent across model specifications and passes validity and robustness tests across various matching algorithms, indicating that policy interventions are effective. The impact is short-term but shows a multiplier effect that strengthens regional economic activity. The study also highlights the mitigation of limitations through the identification of potential spillover to actors outside the target group, limitations of cross-sectional design that limits long-term inference and potential interference of marketing programs, mentoring, financial reporting facilitation and capital facilitation as a series of CCP programs. The results of the socio-economic analysis emphasized the broad benefits for women-led MSMEs, for those expanding their workforce capacity, and for actors with a primary-secondary education background. These findings encourage policymakers to expand and continue the program as part of the CCP strengthening strategy with data-based targeting, as well as improving turnover-based performance monitoring through an integrated information.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of air temperature on the prevalence of mental health disorders in Indonesia from 2013 to 2023, and projects the future burden through 2045. Using panel data from 34 provinces across three time points, the analysis employs a random effects model to capture interregional variation. The findings reveal that annual average temperature is positively and significantly correlated with the prevalence of mental health disorders. Specifically, a 1-degree-Celsius increase in temperature is associated with a 0.5–0.6 percent rise in the proportion of the population experiencing mental health issues. Among socioeconomic factors, unemployment shows a significant positive association, while income inequality, poverty, and unmet need for mental health services are statistically insignificant. The study further constructs long-term projections by integrating regression results with climate and demographic trends. These results highlight the urgency of incorporating mental health dimensions into climate adaptation policies, especially in tropical middle-income countries. A spatial-temporal evidence-based approach is essential for developing early warning systems and responsive policy interventions to address climate-related mental health risks.

Abstract

Background: Economic growth, reflected by an increase in GRDP per capita, may stimulate consumption activities and contribute to higher waste generation. However, this relationship can differ across regions depending on waste management capacity and policy implementation. Objective: This study examines the relationship between GRDP per capita and waste generation at the district/city level in Indonesia by considering the moderating role of the Regional Waste Management Policy Strategy (Jakstrada). Methods: This study employed panel data covering Indonesian districts/cities during 2019–2024 and estimated the model using the Two-Way Fixed Effects approach. Robustness checks were conducted through mean centering of interaction variables to assess the consistency of the findings. Results: The estimation results indicate that GRDP per capita does not significantly affect waste generation in the baseline model. However, after incorporating Jakstrada as a moderating variable, the relationship becomes significant, showing that higher GRDP per capita is associated with increased waste generation. The negative and significant interaction coefficient demonstrates that Jakstrada weakens the tendency of waste generation growth associated with economic expansion. Further analysis indicates a potential nonlinear relationship between economic growth and waste generation. Robustness tests confirm the consistency of the coefficient direction and statistical significance. Conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of regional waste management policies in ensuring that economic growth is accompanied by sustainable environmental management. Strengthening policy implementation can help reduce the environmental pressures arising from economic development.
