Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the embedding of the vocal phoneme in gairaigo in Higedan’s Japanese song lyrics and to describe the changes in moral and its syllables. The benefit of this research is that Japanese language learners can understand the detailed process of the vocal embedding in gairaigo in Japanese song lyrics. The theories used are Hirayama’s theory about vowel phonemes in Japanese, Kawarazaki and Kubozono’s theory about embedding vowel phonemes in closed syllables, and changing the syllables in gairaigo, Sutedi’s theory about mora and syllables. This research method is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data source is from the album song Traveler by the Japanese band Official Hige Dandism (Higedan) with data in the form of gairaigo which has undergone a process of embedding vocals. Researchers used literature study techniques to collect data, then analyzed with descriptive techniques. The findings found that gairaigo underwent a process of embedding vowels as many as 15 words which were divided into 3. First, embedding vowel phonemes at the beginning of words as many as 5 words, namely furiidamu (フリーダム), adobanteeji (アドバンテージ), sutookaa (ストーカー), kurosuwaado (クロスワード ) and sutoorii (ストーリー ). Second, the embedding of vowel phonemes in the middle of the word consists of 2 words, namely, iesutadai (イエスタデイ) and kontorooru (コントロール). Third, embedding vowel phonemes at the end of words as many as 8 words namely, poketto (ポケット), patto (パット), binteeji (ビンテージ), endo (エンド), fitto (フィット), taaminaru (ターミナル), rokku (ロック), and souru (ソウル). The process of embedding these vocal phonemes also influences the occurrence of changes in mora and syllables. Keywords: gairago; Higedan song lyrics; vocal embedding; vowel phoneme.

Abstract

Morphology focuses on elements related to word structure or word forms in language. Various morphological processes are present in morphological analysis, including the reduplication or repetition of word forms. Word repetition or reduplication is a method in which a grammatical unit is reapplied, either in whole or in part, whether there is a difference in sound. In this study, the approach adopted is a qualitative research method. This approach does not involve calculating numbers or statistics but focuses on analyzing data narratively. Therefore, the data used in this research comes from documents, especially the collection of short stories "Atavism" by Budi Darma. The data collected are quotations that include words, phrases, sentences, and discourses related to various forms of reduplication, including complete reduplication, sound-changing reduplication, partial reduplication, and compound reduplication. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis and comprehensively understand reduplication aspects in Budi Darma's "Atavism" short story collection, including complete reduplication, sound-changing reduplication, partial reduplication, and compound reduplication. Through this research, a clearer picture of the use and effect of reduplication in literary work can be achieved. Keywords: short story, morphology, reduplication

Abstract

The development of literacy in Indonesia is still low, with minimal interest in reading impacting students' literacy skills. The causes include difficulty in understanding reading and the lack of literacy resources in schools. The School Literacy Movement by the government, including the book donation program, is expected to improve students' literacy and reading comprehension. This program involves counseling, storytelling, and a target of reading one book per month for students. Although challenges such as limited infrastructure exist, cross-sector collaboration and community support are expected to build a strong literacy culture at SDN 54 Aipiri. On September 15, 2023, a community service activity was carried out at SDN 54 Aipiri, East Manokwari, West Papua. Involving students in grades 1-6, lecturers, and Indonesian Literature students, this program aims to improve literacy skills. The stages include planning, implementation, and evaluation to expand student literacy and provide inspiration for similar programs elsewhere. The book donation initiative at SD Negeri 54 Aipiri aims to increase the book collection, stimulate students' interest in reading, and improve the quality of learning. 120 books were collected from various donors, including students, lecturers, and the community. Ongoing efforts involve more contributors. Counseling is carried out at the beginning of each learning session, including storytelling, to increase students' literacy awareness and skills.

Abstract

Pasir Putih Beach in Manokwari Regency, West Papua is an attractive natural tourist destination with soft sand, clear water and stunning natural views, attracting both local and international tourists. However, its natural charm is disturbed by a serious problem, namely the presence of rubbish on the beach, especially plastic waste such as bottles, bags and single-use food containers which are often scattered around the beach. It is important to manage waste on beaches with specific measures, including regular cleaning programs, raising public awareness, and conducting environmental education campaigns. The main aim of this activity is to increase the awareness and responsibility of students, the community and tourists in protecting the coastal environment in Manokwari Regency, especially in the White Beach Tourism. This community service activity was held at Pasir Putih Beach Tourism, Manokwari Regency, West Papua. The event was held on Sunday, June 3 2023, and included the stages of socializing plans, coordinating and implementing activities to achieve the set goals.
